Chapter 874: 858 You've Become Manly Again (Alliance Leader Joywong421 Bonus Chapter 1)

~7 min read 1,302 words

Mu Tao forgot the time, went to the Intervention Department and saw that work was already over; only the on-duty doctor was there.

The on-duty doctor didn't know him, so there was nothing to say. Mu Tao couldn't be bothered to waste words and just said who he was.

He pulled his rolling suitcase down and found a nearby hotel to stay in.

When in Pengxi Township, Zheng Ren and Su Yun didn't bring their phones, and Mu Tao didn't leave contact information either.

Anyway, it's not a big deal to miss one night, so Mu Tao wasn't in a hurry.

He slept soundly through the night, and the next morning he arrived at the hospital around seven.

It was still early, but Mu Tao wanted to wait for Zheng Ren to come, so he wouldn't be sprayed by that sharp-tongued, effeminate guy.

He stepped into the elevator and unexpectedly saw Zheng Ren and Su Yun inside.

"Zheng... Boss Zheng? Why are you here so early?" Mu Tao said in surprise.

Zheng Ren frowned, feeling the man looked familiar. He stayed silent, waiting for Su Yun to speak to avoid awkwardness.

"Hey, long time no see, Mu Tao, you've become manly again." Su Yun said with the capital's emphasis, in a teasing tone; Mu Tao was used to it.

Su Yun glanced at Mu Tao twice and smiled.

"Mu Tao, I thought you said you came from the front line to 912 just to study was a joke, but you really came?" Su Yun was also a bit surprised to see Mu Tao early, but that didn't mean he would look at Mu Tao differently; he would still sneer and mock as usual.

"I had planned to come later, but after watching Boss Zheng's surgery livestream the day before yesterday, I flew over last night." Mu Tao automatically filtered Su Yun's words—a skill he'd learned at Pengxi Township Hospital.

"Teacher Mu, hello, hello." Zheng Ren then recalled everything about him from those two characters.

His level was not bad, about the same as Su Yun's—pretty good.

Zheng Ren was enthusiastic, extended his hand, and smiled at Mu Tao.

"I wouldn't dare call you teacher teacher; I'm here to learn from Boss Zheng." Mu Tao chuckled, reached out, and shook Zheng Ren's hand.

"When did you come back from Pengxi Township?" Zheng Ren asked casually.

"It's been another week since I withdrew, then I went straight back to Pengcheng." Mu Tao said: "I didn't expect Boss Zheng to be so restless—coming back and causing such a big commotion."

"It's fine, just a surgery livestream." Zheng Ren laughed.

"Any livestreams lately?"

"The patients for the second-phase surgery don't need it; there's one surgery tomorrow. After finishing the second-phase surgery today, patients will be discharged the day after tomorrow, and things will go smoothly after that."

"Boss, why are you being so polite with him?" Su Yun glanced at Mu Tao and said, "Want to learn TIPS surgery?"

"Yes." Mu Tao stated frankly.

"Come with me in a bit; first sign the agreement." Su Yun said.

"How many cases do you need on that side?" Mu Tao asked.

The wording was vague, but everyone present understood.

"At least 3000 cases; this is what Boss Zheng got by doing coronary interventional surgery for Dr. Mei Ha'er. Otherwise, I doubt even a recommendation would be easy." Su Yun complained.

3000... finishing that many before August would be really tough.

Whether it succeeds or not has nothing to do with Mu Tao.

He smiled and didn't say more.

Arriving at the floor of the operating room, Xie Yiren went out first. Afterwards, the few of them headed to the Intervention Department, and Mu Tao asked, "Boss Zheng, how many beds do you have over there?"

"Six."

Mu Tao understood why Zheng Ren had done that.

With just six beds, trying to finish 3000 cases by himself would take until the year of the monkey and horse.

Even so, he felt a bit anxious, Mu Tao thought.

Entering the office, Su Yun changed clothes, then handed Mu Tao a stack of papers, tossed them to him, and began making rounds with Zheng Ren.

Six patients were waiting for today's elective surgery; if there were no complications after the operation, they could be discharged the day after tomorrow and go home.

Those staying in the hospital were getting tired, especially after the first TIPS surgery, when symptoms clearly eased; these days the patients could eat and drink. Although Chang Yue repeatedly told them to take it slow, some patients secretly binged on high-protein food behind their backs.

This is because Zheng Ren's TIPS surgery was done well; otherwise, just this one point would be enough to make a successful surgery fail.

After checking the patients, Zheng Ren arranged the surgery order and then returned to the office with Su Yun.

"Boss Zheng, is there anything else?" Mu Tao asked.

"Su Yun, that's all."

"Okay."

"Then I'll sign." Mu Tao finished speaking, asked Zheng Ren for a pen, and signed his name with a flourish in the blank signature line.

"Look at the difference between people." Old Mu, keep it up, I'm optimistic about you." Su Yun put the agreement away, locked it in the drawer, and said, "Boss, I'm going to the bank to rent a safety deposit box."

"Oh, go ahead."

"I'll let you know." Su Yun said.

"Why rent a safety deposit box?" Zheng Ren asked then.

"In the future there will be more and more agreements; we need a place to keep them properly." Su Yun, looking like a profiteer, said to Mu Tao: "Old Mu, hurry up and learn; once you've learned, hurry back to do surgery."

"..." Only then did Mu Tao feel he had been tricked.

"Don't mess around, Teacher Mu, what don't you understand over there?" Zheng Ren asked, "Since we haven't handed over yet, let's discuss it."

"Just call me Old Mu; Boss Zheng, don't keep calling me Teacher Mu, Teacher Mu." Mu Tao said.

"Alright, no need for formalities on this matter." Zheng Ren also didn't mind, saying, "Old Mu, the surgery livestream—did you get it?"

"No." Mu Tao didn't feel embarrassed and said it directly.

"Let's start from the nuclear magnetic diffusion." Zheng Ren found a computer, sat down, pulled up the relevant data of the surgery patients from the computer, and began explaining to Mu Tao.

Zheng Ren is a man of action, seizing every moment to get things done.

Mu Tao wasn't talkative either; he pulled up a chair, sat beside him, and began asking the countless doubts in his mind.

Mu Tao had studied this image for nearly thirty-six hours.

From the diffuse Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, he went to look for the puncture point; he already had some ideas, but there were still many difficult points he hadn't figured out.

Every difficult point, in Mu Tao's view, was impossible to overcome.

But when he asked, Zheng Ren answered without hesitation, directly; either his approach was clever, or he simply pointed out some blind spots Mu Tao had not considered, and each question was resolved one by one, without any effort.

Time passed, and soon it was time for the early shift change.

Zhao Wenhua changed his clothes, changed his mood, wanting to dispel as much of the gloom brought by Zheng Ren's surgery live broadcast as possible.

When he entered the office, he saw Zheng Ren explaining the images to someone.

"It's time for shift change; let the patients' families leave." No matter what Zhao Wenhua said, he was always in the right. He said it casually, but in fact he was saying it for Zheng Ren to hear.

"Teacher Zhao, it's you." Mu Tao heard Zhao Wenhua's voice, stood up, and greeted him with a smile.
