Chapter 254: All Transferred to Your Name

~4 min read 646 words

Chloe Reed had just returned with a glass of water when she heard Judith Pierce speak, and her pretty brow instantly furrowed.

"Mom, what are you trying to say?"

Judith Pierce looked at her, then said, "Chloe, why don’t you go wash the fruit."

’She’s trying to get rid of me.’

’It must be about the divorce.’

Chloe Reed didn’t move. With a placid expression, she said, "If you’re here to talk about Walker Grant and me, then it’s better if you don’t. I’ve already told my grandmother, and she approves of the divorce."

Judith Pierce froze, looking at the older woman in astonishment.

’Shouldn’t people of her generation be against it?’

’After all, the two of them had been together for so many years.’

’How could they get divorced just like that?’

The grandmother wore a kind, gentle smile. She nodded and said, "I’m Chloe’s grandmother. I support any decision she makes."

For a moment, Judith Pierce was at a loss for words.

But the thought of what that boy of hers had said made her let out a sigh.

"Ma’am, to be honest, this is exactly what I came to talk about. I just feel it would be such a shame for them to separate. Those two kids put in so much effort to be together, and now they want to divorce. Wouldn’t all that effort have been for nothing?"

But the grandmother said, "They worked hard in the past because they loved each other. Now they’re separating because they no longer do. Nothing was wasted. Life moves forward, and you can’t look back."

Judith Pierce: "..."

’Fine.’

’There was nothing she could do.’

Chloe Reed had been tense at first, but her body relaxed upon hearing her grandmother’s words.

The support of her most beloved family member was more important than anything else.

Chloe Reed decided to change the subject. "Mom, why don’t you stay for dinner?"

"I can’t."

Judith Pierce shook her head. "Noah’s still at home. I need to get back to him."

Over this period of time, she and Noah had grown quite attached.

He was her grandson, after all, and his face bore a resemblance to her late son’s, which made her dote on him and pity him all the more.

Judith Pierce turned to the grandmother. "Please, you must come visit us at the estate sometime."

"Alright."

The grandmother nodded.

With a look of resignation, Judith Pierce turned and left.

Chloe Reed immediately rushed over and hugged her grandmother warmly. "Grandma, I feel so safe with you here."

The grandmother smiled. "Don’t worry. I’ll always be here for you."

Chloe Reed nodded. "Okay!"

Dinner was soon delivered from the hotel, a spread of all the grandmother’s favorite dishes. As she looked at the food on the table, a flicker of sorrow passed through her eyes, but it was gone in an instant.

Chloe Reed, not noticing her grandmother’s expression, placed some food on her plate. "My work here will be finished in about half a month. Then I’ll come find you. I want to stay with you for a while."

"That sounds wonderful." A smile returned to the grandmother’s face.

Just then, the grandmother’s phone rang. She answered it, and a moment later, hung up. She looked at Chloe and said, "Sweetheart, I’ve had my lawyer settle all my assets and funds. I’m going to transfer everything to you. I’ll just keep a little for myself to live on; that’s enough. The lawyer will contact you for your signature, so be sure to answer your phone."

Hearing this, Chloe Reed was stunned. "Grandma, why are you suddenly doing this? I don’t want it. You should keep it."

But the grandmother said, "You’re divorcing Walker Grant, and you don’t have a great relationship with your parents. What will you do if you don’t have any money to your name?"
