Chapter 294: Isn’t This a Beast?
Chloe Reed hung up immediately. She found Daniel Hayes and told him to find her grandmother.
Daniel Hayes’s expression changed as soon as he heard what she said. "She’s insane! What kind of animal does something like that?"
Chloe Reed took a deep breath. "Hurry. Nothing can happen to Grandma!"
"Don’t worry, Miss Reed. Some of the other guys have made it to Breyburn. I’ll contact them right now." Daniel Hayes quickly reassured her, then pulled out his phone and started making calls.
Standing in the empty hospital room, Chloe Reed felt as if she had been plunged into an abyss. A bone-deep chill swept over her.
She never imagined that Autumn Linton would do something like this.
All for an adopted daughter—for that girl’s parents, and even her grandparents! How could she do something like this!
’Doesn’t she have even a shred of affection for Grandma?’
’Even if she grew distant from Grandma later on, what about more than a decade of childhood memories?’
’Do they count for nothing?’
Chloe Reed couldn’t bring herself to believe it, but it was really happening.
She went into the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face, forcing herself to calm down.
Just then, she received a message from Autumn Linton, telling her to bring the prepared asset transfer documents to the Reed Villa.
Chloe Reed left the hospital and headed straight for the Reed Villa.
「Meanwhile.」
Daniel Hayes had just hung up when he saw Walker Grant’s name flash across his screen.
He scowled, his voice curt. "What do you want?"
"Have you forgotten what you promised me?" Walker Grant’s voice held a sinister chill.
Even through the phone, Daniel Hayes felt a chill run down his spine.
His expression faltered. "I was just about to tell you," he said quickly. "There’s trouble with Miss Reed. Grandma Sutton is missing. Autumn Linton took her. Mr. Grant, if you can do anything to help, please join the search."
Walker Grant hung up without another word.
Daniel Hayes pursed his lips. ’What a piece of work.’
...
Walker Grant ordered Dylan Finch to pull the hospital’s security footage while he drove toward the Reed Villa.
As he turned onto another street, he spotted Chloe Reed’s car.
She was speeding, driving as if she had a death wish. His expression instantly darkened.
But he didn’t dare call her, afraid he’d distract her and cause an accident.
Glancing at the road ahead, he dialed another number.
Soon, Chloe Reed noticed the cars ahead of her were all changing lanes, and the traffic around her was thinning out.
Her face was taut as she continued to accelerate.
She made a drive that should have taken an hour in just thirty minutes.
Parking at the entrance to the Reed Villa, she hurried inside.
Autumn Linton was sitting in the living room. When she saw Chloe storming in, she instinctively stood up. "Chloe, what are you doing?"
But Chloe Reed glared at her. "I should be asking you that!"
Autumn Linton frowned. "I made myself clear on the phone. Did you bring the documents?"
"You’re delusional!" Chloe Reed stared at her coldly. "Tell me where Grandma is right now, or don’t blame me for what happens next!"
She exuded a terrifying aura, and the look she gave Autumn Linton was murderous, as if she wanted to tear her to pieces.
But Autumn Linton wasn’t afraid. She sat back down. "Chloe, I’m doing this for your own good. You and Walker Grant aren’t divorced yet. What if he tricks you out of all that property? I know how much you like him, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Once you two divorce, I’ll transfer it all back to you."
