Chapter 512: The Wedding Dress Was Personally Designed by Walker Grant

~3 min read 598 words

"What are you two doing?"

Mrs. Yates saw them still standing by the entrance, muttering to each other, and immediately called out to them.

"We’re coming, Mom."

Iris pried Chloe’s hand away, called back, and then winked at Chloe before finally walking into the bridal shop.

Wedding dresses of every style were displayed in glass cases, a dazzling and overwhelming array.

Chloe looked at them one by one, her expression rather placid.

Mrs. Yates asked, "Chloe, what was your wedding dress like?"

At her words, Chloe lowered her gaze slightly, her long lashes trembling. "My dress was one Walker Grant designed himself."

When Mrs. Yates heard this, she immediately broke into a smile. "Oh, is that so? He must have really treasured your wedding then."

Iris curled her lip and muttered under her breath, "What good did caring do? In the end, he was still lured away by a homewrecker."

Mrs. Yates frowned at her. "What are you muttering about?"

Iris said, "I said we should just pick any style. You only wear it for one day, why be so picky about it?"

"How can you say that? How many times does a woman get married in her lifetime? Of course the wedding is important! It’s the most beautiful day of her life, so she has to wear the most beautiful dress." Mrs. Yates was adamant, then sighed. "Sigh... It’s just a shame the wedding is so rushed. Otherwise, I would have designed a dress for you. You’d look absolutely beautiful wearing it."

Iris glanced around, pointed to a strapless, mermaid-style wedding dress, and said, "How about that one? I think it looks nice."

Mrs. Yates took a closer look and said, "It is nice. Very figure-flattering."

She turned to Chloe. "Chloe, what do you think?"

Chloe smiled faintly. "All that matters is that Iris likes it."

Mrs. Yates said, "It’s not just about her liking it. Nathaniel has to like it, too. He’s the groom, after all."

"I’m quite happy with it, Auntie."

Just then, Nathaniel Monroe’s voice sounded from nearby.

The group turned to see Nathaniel walking in with a short-haired woman.

Her smile widened when she saw them. "Nathaniel, Claire, you’re just in time. Iris was just looking at this dress. Come take a look and tell us what you think."

Nathaniel walked over and said, "Iris and I have the same taste."

He even winked at Iris as he said it.

Iris desperately wanted to roll her eyes but managed to restrain herself.

"Iris, this is my sister. I don’t think you’ve met, have you?" Nathaniel said, gesturing to Claire Monroe.

Iris smiled sweetly. "It’s a pleasure to meet you."

Claire smiled faintly. "Hello. You have very good taste. That dress is perfect for you."

After speaking, her gaze drifted, as if unintentionally, to Chloe’s face.

’The last time I saw this beautiful girl, she hadn’t yet married Walker Grant. She’s changed so much since then.’

’She’s still just as beautiful, but there’s a new stillness about her, and a hint of distant coldness in her eyes. She’s not as lively as she used to be.’

’It seems what’s happened these past few years has really taken its toll on her.’

And just like that, the wedding dress was decided. As Nathaniel went to pay, Mrs. Yates said with a smile, "You’re having your wedding photos taken this afternoon. I won’t tag along—you young people go by yourselves. You’ll be more relaxed that way."

She then turned to Iris. "Now, you behave, get some beautiful shots, and send a few to me, you hear?"
