Chapter 53: Tracing the Trail
The Death Overlord also sheathed their weapon, then sighed and said, "I understand, but sparring with you has been the only possibility I've found in countless years, so naturally I'm full of hope."
"We can still spar in the future; there will be plenty of opportunities," Shawn added.
Among the Four Great Overlords, the Death Overlord is the most awkward; the other three are Great Perfections, and the Destruction Overlord, like her, is a super divine beast, but she has already attained Great Perfection while the Death Overlord has not.
By Shawn's estimate, the Four Great Overlords are actually tiered; Fate Overlord and the Destruction Overlord are clearly stronger.
But it seems the Life Overlord and the Death Overlord share a special ultimate technique, though we don't know what it is.
The Death Overlord said again, "Let's go, back to the Underworld."
After speaking, the space around Shawn shifted gradually, and in the blink of an eye he was back atop the great hall on the summit of Yuming Mountain.
After returning, the Death Overlord asked, "Shawn, I have nothing else here. If you wish to stay on Yuming Mountain, you may; if not, any other place is up to you;"
"But perhaps sometime I'll come looking for you; if you go to a material plane, it would be best to have someone nearby who can communicate with me at any time."
If a Great Perfection goes to a material plane, even a Primordial God would be hard to locate; among the dozen or so Great Perfections between heaven and earth, several have vanished completely—no one can find them. If they weren't slain by a Primordial God, they must have gone into hiding on a material plane.
"Alright, I'll leave behind a person infused with a soul seed; one of his divine avatars will stay on Yuming Mountain, and the other will go to the material plane where my other divine avatar resides," Shawn said after a moment's thought.
Fortunately, divine avatars can serve as "phones"; otherwise, divine masters would have no way to communicate.
The Death Overlord nodded, "Fine."
After bidding farewell to the Death Overlord, Shawn arrived at another dwelling atop the summit—the residence of the Primordial God's envoy, Ao De Biao.
"Ha ha, Shawn." Ao De Biao, delighted to see Shawn, asked, "How long do you plan to stay on Yuming Mountain this time?"
Shawn replied, "Not long; I'll just make a quick circuit and then leave."
If there's no news of a Primordial God status, he, now a Great Perfection, could live on Yuming Mountain without issue, even relocating his entire clan to its foothills;
That way, even if one day he inadvertently offends a Primordial God, he'd be under the Death Overlord's watchful eye and essentially risk‑free.
But now a Death Primordial God status might be on some material plane, which keeps him restless.
Ao De Biao said, "That's enough, Shawn. I want to spar with you and experience how powerful a Great Perfection Ascended God truly is."
"Are you sure? You've already sparred with Magnus before," Shawn asked with a smile.
Ao De Biao nodded, "I'm sure. Because we've fought before and I had no chance to retaliate, my desire to spar with a Great Perfection has only grown stronger;"
"I want to truly feel the gap; perhaps it will give me a chance to break through to Great Perfection."
"Fine. After all, you have three Primordial Artifacts; you won't die." Shawn, unbothered by the request, added, "But our cultivation rules differ, so the assistance is even less effective."
He and Ao De Biao were already friends, so a bout was no big deal; it's actually normal— not just for Primordial Gods, but even peak Asuras would not refuse a chance to spar with a Great Perfection;
Generally, given the stature of a Great Perfection, even a Primordial God may not grant them face unless they're close friends.
Ao De Biao laughed, "I can't even find the Destruction Great Perfection in Hell, so I have to come to you."
"Ha ha, then I'm coming." Shawn smiled, and in a flash his figure appeared directly before Ao De Biao.
After being thoroughly beaten, Ao De Biao could only shout, "I concede; this is a world‑apart difference."
Shawn laughed, "Even though the gap is huge, you have three Primordial Artifacts; a Great Perfection can't kill you—at most exile you, and the Overlord will certainly come to rescue you."
That means Shawn has become a Great Perfection; otherwise, someone like Ao De Biao with three Primordial Artifacts would be the Primordial God's favored envoy.
"Alas, now I finally see the gap; no wonder the Overlords value you so highly," Ao De Biao sighed.
"That sort of thing can only depend on fate," Shawn said, paused, then asked, "Ao De Biao, I recall the Primordial God's army on the Yuming Continent is under your command, right?"
Ao De Biao replied, "Yes. What is it—you want the Primordial God's army to do for you? As long as it's not a huge matter, I can personally help; for very big tasks you'll have to ask the Overlord, but it shouldn't be a problem."
The Primordial God's army belongs to the Primordial God, but it's essentially run by the army's commander, who handles everything; generally, as long it doesn't contradict the Primordial God's early orders, the commander's word is final.
Shawn said, "Nothing special; I want to tour various material planes, so I'd like to use the Plane Guardians within the Primordial God's army to see which planes are interesting and fun."
The current first mission is to locate the Twelve‑Winged Divine Angel Uriel, who is highly trusted by the Fist Primordial God; finding him could reveal the Fist Primordial God's material plane.
He has already checked the Divine Planes and found no such angel, so it's most likely on a material plane; but with countless billions of material planes, searching them one by one would take an unfathomable number of years.
The fastest method is still to query the guardians of each plane, probing their memories to lock onto whether a high‑level god master of the Dark Law resides there; that speeds things up.
Of course, if this angel has truly hidden his identity completely, that trick won't work; in that case you'd have to laboriously investigate each plane yourself. Time is unlimited, and he also possesses a Primordial God Token.
"Ha ha, easy. I'll have those guardians write up the conditions of the material planes where their divine avatars reside, then give them to you—how about that?" Ao De Biao agreed immediately upon hearing such a simple task.
Shawn shook his head, "No need; I'll find them myself. Where are they?"
Ao De Biao replied, "They're in a Primordial God's army camp near the Undead Sacred Mountain. If you go, I'll inform the camp's commander to cooperate with you."
Shawn asked again, "With so many planes, how many material planes does the Underworld control?"
"Only a small portion—eleven Divine Planes divide all material planes," Ao De Biao answered. "It's said to be the Supreme God's decree; as long as a guardian guides a person to a material plane, that's enough, and we don't mind the rest."
"Alright, I'll go first," Shawn nodded.
