Chapter 55: Coercion and Temptation

~6 min read 1,158 words

"It's really Uril!"

Shawn's eyes brightened; with his divine perception plus the power of his will, any god‑level master's disguise before him is meaningless.

"Greetings, sir." The Guardian of the Material Plane of the Xia Continent, upon seeing the water‑realm visitor, immediately bowed and said.

Shawn glanced at the mid‑rank deity beside him, said nothing, flashed, and vanished outright;

In a dim valley, Uril was savoring a delicacy; as a Twelve‑Winged Divine Angel, his strength was great, comparable to a typical Asura, but unlike them, his race had no chance for growth;

Whatever rank one is born with from the Angel Reincarnation Pool remains that rank, and forever obeys the Lord God's command;

But until one day, they discovered that they suddenly regained their memories of the Material Plane and became free, and then he returned. Unfortunately, by then countless billions of years had passed, and his own plane was long changed beyond recognition. Consequently, he has since hidden within his own Material Plane.

Suddenly, Uril's expression changed, he turned sharply, and discovered that at this moment, a person was suspended in the sky.

Shawn looked at the person below and couldn't help but laugh, "No wonder you're a Twelve‑Winged Angel of Dark Law, yet you managed to find me."

"Did you come from the Divine Plane?" Uril's whole body surged with black divine energy, and twelve wings sprouted from his back.

When one becomes a god on the Material Plane, the cosmic laws descend with fluctuations across all planes. He has been here for billions of years; no one could independently ascend to a higher god and train without his knowledge, let alone a master close enough to approach him.

Dark Law excels at concealment and likewise at detecting those hidden nearby. He is the Twelve‑Winged Angel of Wurong; even on the Divine Plane, few can achieve this.

Shawn asked, "You are Uril, right? Your changes in appearance mean nothing before me; I have something to ask you."

"How do you know my name?" Uril's expression was very cautious; this person was coming straight at him.

Shawn asked, "I need to know some information about Lord God Feisite."

"Are you sent by another Lord God?" Upon hearing this, Uril let out a "boom" as Dark Lord God's power enveloped his whole body,

Then, a strange long blade in his hand slashed straight at Shawn; wherever the blade cut, the space of the Material Plane was easily cleaved.

Shawn sighed, flashed, and instantly appeared in front of Uril; his right hand lightly tapped the side of the long blade;

"How is this possible?" Uril also realized Shawn's speed, far faster than his own when wielding Lord God's power, and the long sword in his hand, after the light tap, was struck by a massive force and the Divine Artifact Long Sword flew out.

The tremendous force shattered his right hand, spouting a mouthful of blood, and he immediately used the momentum to retreat backward.

He understood the newcomer's strength was overwhelming; staying here by force would be a dead end.

"Stop running." Shawn was too lazy for more words; he launched a soul attack, but unexpectedly Uril was unaffected.

Shawn exclaimed in surprise, "You still have a soul‑defending Divine Artifact? Ha, that's somewhat impressive, but useless."

After speaking, his speed suddenly increased tenfold, and he rushed straight to Uril's front, lightly slapping his back with a palm.

"Boom~~" Uril, out of control, collided with a several‑kilometer‑tall mountain ahead;

How could the Material Plane's mountain range withstand such an attack? The entire range instantly resembled a meteor strike; massive waves like a tsunami surged among the rocks, and within dozens of miles, all the surface turned into shattered stone.

Countless demonic beasts, elves, and even intelligent adventuring races, when even slightly affected by this energy, were instantly reduced to ash.

"Retreat, run fast, a god‑level master is fighting~" shouted several Sanctum beasts nearby.

Shawn naturally ignored those ants and kept watching Uril below; this Uril possessed a soul‑defending Divine Artifact, so he could not be confused or have his soul harvested—truly a bit troublesome.

Deep underground, Uril saw Shawn not continue his attack and realized he couldn't evade, so he flew out, looked at Shawn, and asked with a terrified face, "Are you the Great Perfect Ascended God?"

As the once‑most trusted Dark Angel of the Lord God, Uril had never seen the Great Perfect Ascended God, yet he knew some of Great Perfect's secrets and abilities, and having fought on the plane's battlefield, he naturally understood the capabilities of other peak Asuras;

To handle him so effortlessly, only the Great Perfect could achieve that in all heavens and earth.

"Correct." Shawn said with a faint smile, "Now can we sit down and talk?"

If we cannot confuse or harvest souls, then we must talk, or threaten.

Uril did not answer directly; instead he asked, "If you want to kill, then kill, but I never imagined I would die at the hands of a Great Perfect Ascended God; that would be worthy."

"I'm not here to kill you," Shawn said, his brow slightly furrowed.

Uril asked, "You didn't seek me for my Divine Artifact?"

"No," Shawn shook his head and said.

The deceased Lord God's Divine Artifact he had once sent out was truly "ownerless"; therefore, if a Lord God's envoy's Lord God dies, the first thing he should do is to hide quickly.

Uril thought for a moment, then said, "Very well, I trust a Great Perfect Ascended God."

"Alright, there's a nice hill over there," Shawn said and flew over; Uril, regardless of the Lord God's power still radiating from his body, followed.

When he arrived, Shawn had already laid out a plethora of Divine Plane delicacies on a table and beckoned, "Sit down."

"Thank you," Uril also bowed and sat down;

Facing the Great Perfect, even if he might be an enemy, one must show a certain courtesy; this has been the tacit rule of the Divine Plane for countless billions of years.

Shawn asked, "Uril, I want to know some things about the Lord God Feisite from back then; you were his most trusted angel, so you should know something, right?"

"I indeed know," Uril said oddly, "But Lord God Feisite fell long ago; why do you want to know about him?"

"You don't need to worry about that," Shawn said, then produced a small vial in his hand: "Inside are 100 drops of Dark Lord God's Power; this is my reward for you. Just answer my questions, and that's all."

Lord God's Power is nothing to the Great Perfect; moreover, Shawn also possesses endless Three‑Path Divine Power, yet under normal circumstances it need not be used.

"Fine, but you must swear a supreme divine oath, then you may not kill me, and you cannot tell anyone about what happens here," Uril said, looking at Shawn.
