Chapter 8: Inside Youming Mountain
Half a month later, on a full‑moon night, Shawn followed the hundreds‑strong main force and headed for the gate of Youming Mountain.
Just after leaving the hotel, many people gave chase, but a bearded hulker let out a cold hum; countless bolts of lightning crackled, and amid the "patter‑clatter" more than a dozen approaching high‑rank gods were instantly turned to charred husks, their bodies falling as their divine forms erupted.
Shawn instantly saw that the mysterious lightning attack carried a soul strike; the victims' bodily wounds were merely superficial, their souls were outright erased. To slay more than a dozen distant high‑rank gods with a single move is essentially Seven‑Star Demon level.
"Leinuo, these are just ordinary high‑rank gods; why unleash this killer?" a bald hulker laughed heartily.
The bearded high‑rank god Leinuo replied coldly, "A bunch of trash who can't even afford a room at Youming Hotel—do they even deserve to enter Youming Mountain?"
"Ha ha!"
Many nodded in agreement; Youming Mountain surely requires a certain level of strength to gain entry. Those who can't even pay ten thousand Youming Stones a day are certainly not strong.
Shawn likewise concurred—these people entering Youming Mountain were nothing but fertilizer for the trees inside.
Inside Youming Hotel, a green‑robed woman at the desk approached the red‑haired girl, smiling as she asked, "Boss, how many of these people do you think will come back alive?"
"This batch's strength is decent; at least, from what I know, there are two Seven‑Star Demons. But if they knowingly head up the mountain despite being outmatched, none of them might survive."
"Two Seven‑Stars? Besides that lightning‑type one, who else?" the green‑robed woman asked in surprise.
The red‑haired girl smiled lightly, "One is a Seven‑Star Demon that only rose to prominence a hundred million years ago; its strength is near the pinnacle. Perhaps it came to Youming Mountain to seek refuge."
"Refuge? Could it be Shawn, hunted by the Four Beast Clan?" the green‑robed woman speculated.
Seven‑Star Demons in the Netherworld are almost each a regional powerhouse; over countless billions of years their numbers have remained minuscule, with a new one emerging only after many hundred‑million years. Shawn, however, is the Seven‑Star Demon born in the Hongyang Mansion of Youming Continent within the past hundred million years, a peak‑level being who has defeated several long‑established Seven‑Star Demons.
The red‑haired girl glanced at her subordinate, "Looks like the Four Beast Clan's bounty has piqued your interest, huh?"
"Boss, I only know about that," the green‑robed woman hurriedly replied.
"He's rather clever, realizing that Youming Mountain is the safest place," the red‑haired girl said calmly.
Just after entering Youming Mountain, Shawn felt a massive pressure bearing down on him; the disguise on his face gradually faded under that pressure.
Likewise, his soul's depths throbbed, his divine consciousness could not disperse, and even gravity was undetectable—exactly the same sensation as Lin Lei's entry into Youming Mountain in the original work.
The others fared even worse than Shawn; many were shaken to the core by the overwhelming pressure, only a few Seven‑Star and Six‑Star masters managed to hold up slightly better.
Scanning the surroundings, the white mist was so thick that only a few saplings were visible. Shawn chose a random direction and sprinted forward; his appearance was forced back to normal, so there was no need for those who had just entered with him to recognize him—if anyone outside possessed a divine avatar that knew him, his trail could be exposed.
The Four Beast Clan may dare not enter Youming Mountain, but they could ambush at the sole exit; even the Death Sovereign of the Lezi people might not aid them.
Nevertheless, even if he went elsewhere he might be recognized; therefore the best course is to obtain the Youming Fruit. Once he becomes the Divine Envoy, he will no longer fear the Four Beast Clan.
Lacking direction, Shawn could only wander blindly; if he encountered others trapped in Youming Mountain, he could perform a Soul Seed on them to learn the Youming Fruit's location. Even if the Soul‑Seeded person didn't know, he could still trace others through them and eventually locate the fruit.
【5】 "Whoosh~~" a green flash shot toward him; although Shawn's divine consciousness could not disperse, his perception of surrounding energy fluctuations remained unaffected.
'Whoosh~~' a green light shot, although Shawn could not spread his divine sense, but his perception of the energy fluctuations around him was unaffected in the slightest.
Immediately a soul attack was launched, the green light vanished instantly, and the little snake's corpse disappeared outright.
"According to the original work, those green snakes were fashioned by the two divine beasts using some rare talent—what a remarkable gift," Shawn thought.
Based on his knowledge of the death rules, mere mysticism could not forge a weapon with innate offensive instinct, especially when they littered the mountain; these tiny green snakes could easily pierce Lin Lei's scales—a feat that only a Seven‑Star Demon could barely achieve.
Scanning the area, Shawn spotted several more green snakes; in an instant his figure flickered and vanished. He didn't wish to tangle with them—though he wasn't afraid of their soul attacks, their piercing power and sheer numbers could overwhelm his material defenses.
After wandering for several days, occasionally dispatching a few small green snakes with ease, he reached a hillside; climbing it and looking around, he realized he seemed to be at the foot of the mountain, and it wasn't the same entrance he had entered before.
"I don't believe I can't reach the Gray Mist Zone," Shawn thought, though he wasn't particularly concerned.
He wasn't Lin Lei, rushing to save his family; spending a million years in Youming Mountain didn't bother him. He simply wanted to obtain the Youming Fruit quickly, become the true pinnacle of the divine realm, and no longer fear the Four Beast Clan.
Once he possesses the primary material‑defense artifact, not even the Great Perfection, the Primordial God, nor the future Beirut can harm him.
A month later, Shawn suddenly sensed distant energy fluctuations, hurried over, and found several people fighting. What's worth fighting over inside Youming Mountain? Shawn didn't care to find out.
After a while, one combatant finally killed his opponent: "Ha ha, you finally died; your Spatial Ring is now mine."
But before he could claim ownership, a surge of energy behind him triggered a soul attack that struck him directly.
Shawn asked immediately, "Do you know where the Gray Mist Zone is?"
"I know," the Soul‑Seeded person replied.
Shawn said coolly, "Take me there."
With a guide, Shawn quickly reached the edge of the Gray Mist Zone, where the Soul‑Seeded individual said, "Sir, I cannot enter here; stepping inside would drive me mad."
"Very well," Shawn said, then launched another soul attack; the Soul‑Seeded person collapsed instantly, his divine form and Spatial Ring seized.
Afterward, Shawn stared at the Gray Mist Zone ahead and stepped straight in; upon entering, a bizarre influence acted on his soul, seemingly trying to drive him mad, but at his level it had no effect.
