Chapter 1933: Assassination

~6 min read 1,199 words

Within the narrow mountain pass, over two thousand Sun Warriors and nearly three thousand Zerg were locked in a chaotic slaughter.

The Sun Warriors' frontal combat prowess ranked second among the five tribes, with the Hasaro tribe's Predator Warriors taking the top spot.

"Bagu!"

A synchronized roar echoed through the pass. The Sun Warriors stood in a line, most wielding wooden spears tipped with cast black metal.

Flames clung to the wooden shafts, heating the metal tips to a searing red. More troublesome than these spearmen were the Sun Warriors wielding crudely forged straight blades with hooked tips—weapons specifically crafted to pry open Zerg carapaces and snag their limbs or spikes.

The Putesi Zerg cared little for the warriors' strength; their orders were simple: kill every enemy.

"Bagu!"

"Bagu!"

The Sun Warriors roared as they charged in formation. Behind them, two four-meter-tall giants clad in vine armor and wielding massive metal staves emerged—these were the Flame Dikas, an elite unit among the Sun Warriors.

Boom. Boom!

The Flame Dikas swung their five-meter-long metal staves, shattering a swathe of Zerg with every strike, turning them into burning pyres.

Fiery red light particles drifted from the burning corpses, sinking into the nearby Sun Warriors. Their wounds began to heal slowly, and they charged back into the fray as if injected with stimulants.

Inside the Wugu Hive, Su Xiao sat cross-legged, eyes closed, his right arm encased in a massive mechanical gauntlet bristling with wires.

Nearby, the Zerg Queen Wugu lay motionless within the consciousness transmission device, the Soul Crystals (Complete) embedded in the machine pulsing with light.

"Sun Warriors, as expected..."

Su Xiao had not known the Three-Leagued Alliance could command the Sun Warriors. Had he not created this hive as a decoy and instead tried to fight the Alliance head-on with five thousand Devil Beasts, the chances of defeat would have been high. The Sun Warriors were far more adept at countering Zerg than the contractors were, thanks to their flames and specialized weaponry, not to mention their self-healing capabilities after killing enemies.

Now that he had baited out the Alliance's trump card, Su Xiao was satisfied. Three thousand Putesi were nowhere near enough to deal with over two thousand Sun Warriors; even Tier 4 combat Zerg would need at least eight thousand to stand a chance against them.

Outside the valley, many contractors were watching the battle. They didn't care how many Sun Warriors died; rushing into the fray would only mean being swarmed by Zerg.

"This won't do."

Afuluo watched the Sun Warriors gradually pushing toward the hive. Despite the overwhelming advantage, there was no joy on her face.

"Indeed, this won't do."

Yakluo spoke as well.

"Agreed."

Muyushi looked at the distant hive, seemingly worried about something.

"Judging by the current situation, destroying this hive is only a matter of time, but..."

Afuluo didn't finish, but she knew Yakluo and Muyushi understood her concern.

Her meaning was simple: she feared that once the Zerg were at a sufficient disadvantage, Su Xiao would flee with the Zerg Queen, leaving them with no peace and the constant threat of his return.

"Long-range sensing confirmed it—it's that guy who uses the blade."

A male contractor displayed a very incomplete file to Afuluo and the others.

"I never had the chance to cross blades with him before, and it seems I won't have the chance now."

Yakluo shook his head. He remembered Su Xiao well—a man with a single blade who had held off five Elemental Stars. His combat record wasn't just terrifying; it was chilling.

"I don't want to fight a madman like that, and I'm not an assassin-type anyway."

Muyushi shrugged.

"I'll do it."

A girl about 1.5 meters tall stepped forward. She wore a cropped loose jacket, her toned midriff visible, and denim shorts so short they were nearly revealing.

"36D, you're too long-winded. Hesitation is defeat."

Qianhua tied her long black hair into a ponytail.

"36D, give me the buffs."

"The Zerg Queen is the primary target."

"Don't you trust me?"

Qianhua tilted her head, her dark eyes flashing.

"It's not that I don't trust you, it's just... contractors who specialize in blade arts have incredibly sharp perception. And that guy is a blade-madman; his close-range perception might even exceed that of a dedicated sensory contractor."

"Tch, then I'll just assassinate the Queen. Hurry up and buff me."

"..."

Afuluo remained silent, extending her staff as golden energy gathered at its tip.

'Courage'

'Stealth Enhancement'

'Moon Empress'

'Hildin'

'Speed Boost'

'Secondary Speed Boost'

'Silent Walk'

'Sheltering Spirit'

'Divine Armor'

At least twenty buffs were applied to Qianhua. A golden and a green angel fluttered beside her, scattering light particles that provided continuous healing and defense.

"I'm off."

Qianhua vanished instantly. Her original assassination skills were already top-tier, and with the buffs from the super-healer Afuluo, her strength had at least doubled.

Yakluo shook his head. He wasn't underestimating Qianhua; he was simply envious of those buffs.

In reality, by the time the others sensed her presence, she was already standing beside the hive.

Qianhua scanned the surroundings. The hive entrance was sealed. She crouched, pressing a hand to the ground.

'Transmission.'

Qianhua vanished, reappearing inside the hive, touching the ground only with her tiptoes.

She began to assess the situation. The interior was lined with dark green biological tissue. In the center sat a man with a massive mechanical gauntlet on his right arm, connected to hundreds of wires, a sheathed longsword resting across his lap.

With just one glance, Qianhua judged that her success rate for an assassination attempt was less than twenty percent. The faint bloodlust radiating from him made her senses sting.

'Divine Armor'

At least twenty buff states were added to Qianhua, with one gold and one green little angel flying beside her, scattering light particles that possessed continuous healing and defensive capabilities.

"Let's go."

As soon as Qianhua finished speaking, she disappeared from the spot. Everyone present could not perceive her aura; her original assassination ability was already very strong, and after being buffed by the super healer Madam Anqi, her strength had increased by at least two times.

Ya Ke Luo shook his head; he was not looking down on Qianhua's strength, but rather envying the buff states she had.

In fact, while everyone was perceiving Qianhua's aura, she was already standing beside the Hive.

Qianhua looked around; the entrance to the Hive was already closed. She crouched on the ground and pressed one hand against it.

'Transmission.'

Qianhua disappeared, and the next moment she appeared inside the Hive, touching the ground with only the tips of her two feet.

Qianhua began to observe the situation around her. Everywhere she looked, there were dark green Hive inner walls. In the center of the Hive, a man was sitting cross-legged, with a huge mechanical arm armor on his right arm, connected to a large number of wires, and a sheathed long sword was placed flat on the man's lap.

With just one glance, Qianhua judged that her success rate in assassinating the opponent was no more than twenty percent. The faint blood aura around the man made her perception feel vaguely stinging.
