Chapter 3839: Victory, Defeat, and Set Meals

Giant Armor City · Rear City District · Station of the First Wizard Legion.

The former Wizard Legion was very strong, first fighting the Ancient King faction, then repelling the tribes, and finally beating the Ice-born back to the extreme north cold land, which could be described as infinitely glorious.

If the system of the Wizard Legion had continued, the current Wizard Legion would definitely have top-tier combat power. The origin of everything started with the second-generation Moon Witch.

The first-generation Moon Wizard retired after being half-missing at the peak period, which was something no one expected. This made several wizards and witches who were qualified to become the second-generation Moon Wizard hostile to each other, and the entire wizard faction split into many factions at that time.

Fortunately, the foreign enemies were all beaten to death or half-dead, so the internal chaos of the wizard faction didn't affect the wizard faction's rule over this world. When the second-generation Moon Wizard barely ascended to the position, several Star Wizards with status only second to the Moon Wizard were dissatisfied, leading to the second-generation Moon Wizard's ascension not appearing in the situation where the overall situation was set as expected, but even more chaotic.

Under such circumstances, the second-generation Moon Wizard could only try his best to win over the powerful forces within the wizard faction. The "Wizard Legion," which was in its prime at that time, was the top priority. Under this situation, the second-generation Moon Wizard made a decision: he transferred the "Wizard Legion" stationed in Moon Ring City to "Giant Armor City" near the northern border, "Ancient King City" near the southern border, and "Silent City" located in the western coastal city.

This seemed to be a good border defense layout, but after a few years, the several Grand Generals of the Wizard Legion began to listen to the tune but not the announcement. It was fine to let them go to attack Ice-born, tribes, and Sea Barbarians, but wanting to interfere with the personnel appointments of the Wizard Legion, and letting these several Grand Generals come to the main city · Moon Ring City to participate in the council, was something they didn't even think about.

This situation lasted until the North Border Grand General of Giant Armor City colluded with the third-generation City Lord of Sky City, leading to a rebellion. At that time, the wizards were particularly good at fighting. Those old wizards who had resisted the Abyss invasion were still alive and were at the last peak before decline.

Facts proved that the Wizard Legion used for war couldn't beat these old wizards who had resisted the Abyss. The rebellion was suppressed. To prevent the Wizard Legion from losing control again, the position of Grand General, which could command multiple legions, was eliminated and changed to a commander system. Each commander could control at most one Wizard Legion, and the position of commander could only be held by members of wizard families.

The result of this was that laymen managed experts. Nine out of ten commanders from wizard families didn't understand how to lead troops to fight, and the remaining half were just armchair strategists, feeling that their theory was particularly strong, but when they practiced, they were in a mess.

Chaotic management, generous logistical material supply, military officers embezzling soldiers' salaries, and the infighting of wizard families after becoming high-level legion members.

Especially the last point, members of wizard families were little experts in factional fighting since childhood. When they clashed with the middle-level military officers of the legion, these middle-level officers were all numb from their fighting. They only knew how to fight and train soldiers, so how could they understand factional fighting.

What was even more fatal was that the wizard faction had no foreign enemies during this period, so the situation of laymen managing experts in the Wizard Legion lasted for many years, until after the fifth-generation Moon Witch ascended, this situation was officially ended.

When the warlike fifth-generation Moon Witch was ready to reorganize the combat power of the Wizard Legion and invade other worlds to plunder resources, she found that the situation of the Wizard Legion wasn't right.

It was during this period that the wizard faction and the Ice-born Kingdom turned into an armed conflict due to a trade conflict, and eventually, the border legions of both sides began to be on the verge of war.

That night, the old North Border King suffered from insomnia. He hadn't fought with the wizard faction, but in his grandfather's generation, he had already been scared by the first-generation Moon Witch. Until now, the old North Border King still remembered the witch floating above Eternal Winter City, the first-generation witch holding the huge head of the God of Winter.

The problem was that the contradiction between the two sides had reached the point where they had to fight. The Ice-born had long had no way to retreat, and if they retreated again, they would enter the extreme north ice field. The old North Border King could only bear the fear of the first-generation Moon Witch and be forced to fight.

On the night the war started, the fifth-generation Moon Witch suffered from insomnia. If it weren't for a few remaining foundations, the Sixth Wizard Legion sent this time might have been completely annihilated.

Just when the Ice-born were inflated internally because of this victory, the wizards told the Ice-born with individual powerhouses who was the big daddy of the Witches' World. Those old guys who had resisted the Abyss picked up their former weapons again. Early the next morning, the heads of the North Border King and all the high officials of Eternal Winter City were hung side by side on the city wall.

From then on, the Wizard Continent no longer believed in legion flow, plus the abundant resources here, individual powerhouses became the main body of combat power.

And the ambition of the fifth-generation Moon Witch, it was interesting to say, this Moon Witch who developed the Wizard Legion for a lifetime, just when the Wizard Legion had some improvement, she was backstabbed by her beloved disciple. That "Dark Moon Long Dagger" was still in the museum of Moon Ring City · District 1.

Although the fifth-generation Moon Witch died, the Wizard Legion stood up again. The problem was that the sixth-generation Moon Witch who ascended later was a conservative, and very afraid of the Wizard Legion developed by the fifth-generation Moon Witch, so a new round of suppression began.

Generation after generation of Moon Witch replacements, the Wizard Legion was in a state of standing up for a while, and then like an eggplant beaten by frost in autumn for a while. In the end, the Wizard Legion itself was confused, and felt: "Am I probably still okay?"

After the Moon Witch · Serithis ascended, she knew the situation of the myriad worlds of the void. Although she wasn't prepared to invade others, she also vigorously developed the Wizard Legion. After so many years of massive resources and talent investment, Serithis also wanted to see how the Wizard Legion was now. Therefore, her willingness to ask Su Xiao for help wasn't urgent.

And at this moment, Giant Armor City · Rear City District, at the station of the First Wizard Legion, in the council hall, 90% of the generals of the wizard faction were gathered here. The urgently appointed Supreme Commander · Gideus sat at the head of the council table. This old general had deep eyes and an immovable aura, making the commanders and middle-level military officers in the seats keep silent.

"Everyone, bring out your true skills. The Moon Witch is waiting for our results. Since the Calamity Legion dares to invade us, let them pay a painful price."

After the Supreme Commander · Gideus finished these words, the commanders echoed one after another, indicating that this battle would definitely make the Calamity Legion pay a price.

With this pre-war meeting, the subsequent combat goals were clear: first drive the Calamity Legion out of this world, and then lock onto the world where the other party was located and conquer it.

At nine o'clock that night, military airships took off in the Rear City District of Giant Armor City. With the huge population base of the Wizard Continent, the 50 million soldiers of the Wizard Legion were actually not many. At the peak period, there were more than 200 combat legions, each crown-winning legion had 3.0-3.2 million soldiers, each legion was divided into more than 50 combat echelons, and then dismantled level by level, until a small team of 15 soldiers.

From this afternoon, the atmosphere in the city gradually became tense. First, food prices soared, triggering residents to rush to buy, and then the prices of daily necessities also increased. After three wizards from the Hunter Agency visited several wealthy merchants in the city, prices gradually stabilized in the evening.

Airships and military aircraft flew straight to "Sky City." The equipment of the Wizard Legion was very advanced. The financial resources here made their high-tech equipment come from the Bana Little Human Race and the Star Race, but don't underestimate the close-combat ability of the Wizard Legion soldiers. The battle armor and long spears on their bodies were of mysterious characteristics. It could be said that they could bombard with technology from a distance, and fight to the death with supernatural power up close.

Every soldier's equipment was also like this. In addition to being equipped with battle armor and secret pattern long spears, each of them had a kinetic energy firearm, 2-5 magnetic gravity bombs, and in a small team, there was also a superconducting weapon firepower hand for attacking strongholds, a single-soldier heavy artillery soldier for suppression, a battlefield wizard doctor, a perception type, a double-blade close-combat type with high-defense battle armor, and finally a sniper using liquid weapons.

At five o'clock the next morning, the fleet of the Wizard Legion had half-surrounded "Sky City · Lower City." At this time, this giant city could no longer be called Sky City; calling it "Dead Defeat City" was more appropriate. Death, decay, darkness, and faint low howls of ghosts drifted out from the black mist.

The black mist shrouded the buildings of "Dead Defeat City." Inside the giant flagship under heavy protection at the rear of the fleet, Supreme Commander · Gideus issued an attack order.

Hum~, click-clack~!

Giant war machines unfolded above, and with a boom, a thousand-meter-thick dark purple laser sprayed down, which caused the black mist of "Dead Defeat City" to surge, accompanied by the crackling sound of energy devouring each other, quickly consuming the black mist that shrouded and protected "Dead Defeat City."

A ghost-green flame ball with a diameter of several kilometers fell from above, like a falling ghost flame meteorite, smashing into "Dead Defeat City" with a boom. While a large area of black mist dissipated, the corrupted ones inside were ignited while wailing, and the sunken ones transformed from commoners were even more vulnerable, being burned to ashes on the spot.

Under the bombardment of technology and mystery, the corrupted ones swarming out of "Dead Defeat City" fell one after another like harvested wheat. Several legions of soldiers, in a semi-surrounding array, began to advance forward with long-range weapons.

The fierce melee battle imagined didn't appear. Under the crushing of technology and wizardry, the outer defense line of "Dead Defeat City" disintegrated in just one hour.

Pfft!

A sturdy soldier pierced the head of a corrupted one with the long spear in his hand. This soldier named Gao of the Wizard Legion picked up the corrupted one with the long spear. As he activated the secret pattern on the gun blade, the long spear erupted with scorching red, blasting the corrupted one's head to pieces with a boom.

Almost at the same time, soldier · Gao pulled out a large pistol-like kinetic energy firearm from his waist.

Bang, bang, bang!

Three precise shots blasted a corrupted one that pounced from the black mist more than ten meters away, avoiding a treatment witch from dying on the spot. The treatment witch, splashed with some dark blood, looked at soldier · Gao and deeply remembered the other party's appearance. However, there were no love stories on the battlefield. After the two nodded to each other, they threw themselves into the battle again.

The front-line battle was in full swing. Looking down from above, you could see the soldiers gradually closing in, making the area of Dead Defeat City shrink rapidly. The occasional casualties and the miserable wails of soldiers after being seriously injured were also diluted by the roar of weapons and the step-by-step advance.

Inside the giant flagship · command room under heavy protection at the rear, from the start of the battle until now, the state of Supreme Commander · Gideus could be divided into three stages. First, his face was serious, but he was uneasy in his heart. He really couldn't determine what the situation would be after the dozen or so Wizard Legions under his command clashed with the "Calamity Legion."

When the battle started, Supreme Commander · Gideus was very confused, which was that the combat power of the "Calamity Legion"... how did it feel average? Could it be a trap?

And the battle developed until now, Supreme Commander · Gideus was still serious. However, the cup of hot tea emitting wisps of heat in his hand represented his mood at this time, and he regretted that when he promised the Moon Witch before, his tone should have been more decisive, and the expectation of the results should have been higher. For example, after driving the enemy out of the Witches' World, immediately launch a counterattack?

With the progress of the war, the Supreme Commander · Gideus and the commanders in the command room became more and more heavy. It wasn't that the front line was unfavorable, but it was too smooth. By three o'clock in the afternoon, Dead Defeat City was already one in ten thousand, leaving only the dark space gate and the elite corrupted ones stationed around.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Under the bombardment of kinetic heavy artillery and elemental wizardry, at four o'clock that afternoon, the thousand-meter-high dark space gate only had a large half left, and all around were the broken limbs and arms of elite corrupted ones, as well as a small amount of seriously injured and wailing soldiers. 90% of the soldiers could get rescue from treatment witches or battlefield wizards after being injured.

Boom!!

A giant hand composed of elemental wizardry pressed down from top to bottom on the dark space gate. With the roar and air waves spreading, the dark space gate shattered. This impact, which affected a range of more than ten kilometers, made many soldiers fall over. Some soldiers climbed up from the ground while cursing, and after spitting out the soil debris in their mouths, they saw the gradually collapsing dark space gate.

First, there was a short silence, followed by a mountain-shaking cheer. An alien soldier with a height of more than five meters and wearing full-body technological battle armor even held up a huge head with one hand. This was the head of Baron Death Curse, one of the three followers under the Corruption Lord.

Inside the command room, Supreme Commander · Gideus in front of the holographic projection sand table frowned. This battle was too smooth. He vaguely felt something was wrong, but the "Calamity Legion" was defeated and driven out of the Witches' World, which was an indisputable fact. Especially, the space crack was completely sealed, which undoubtedly announced again the powerful combat power of the Wizard Legion and this crushing brilliant victory.

After thinking for a few seconds, Supreme Commander · Gideus contacted the Moon Witch. After a moment, the holographic projection of the Moon Witch's upper body was projected. Gideus immediately knelt on one knee to salute and reported the situation of this battle one by one.

When hearing that the Calamity Legion had already retreated in disgrace, although the Moon Witch's expression was calm, there was a short palpitation in her heart. After learning that the space crack had been completely sealed, she felt a little relieved.

Inside the Moon Witch's office at the Witches' Guild headquarters, after ending the communication, the Moon Witch · Serithis closed her eyes and leaned back. After a moment, she let out a long sigh. This victory was too dreamy. She pulled open the secret compartment under the drawer, and the 【Origin Core】 inside, as well as the 【Will Gem】 among the eight strongest gems, were the rewards she prepared to ask the Zerg for help. Unexpectedly, this preparation wasn't used.

The so-called eight strongest gems were: Will Gem, Holy Gem, Soul-Devouring Gem, Nature Gem, Soul Gem, Death Gem, Elemental Gem, Abyss Gem.

The known holders were:

Soul Gem (Su Xiao, didn't obtain the complete body of the Soul Gem, temporarily obtained 80%, the remaining 20% Soul Gem origin energy was located in the Apocalypse Paradise).

Death Gem (Solomon, didn't obtain the complete body of the Death Gem).

Nature Gem (Arcane Eternal Star · Daughter of Nature · Elucle).

Moon Witch · Serithis put down the "Will Gem" and thought carefully. After investing massive resources and talents in the Wizard Legion for so many years, she should have received some returns. And this victory was the most favorite return. After thinking of this, the Moon Witch suppressed the palpitation.

At this moment, Dead Defeat City, which was the original site of Sky City · Lower City, soldiers and logistics departments were cleaning up the mess. Soldier · Gao was chewing a small piece of meat jerky as hard as tree bark. Just then, he felt someone pat his shoulder from behind. Having just experienced the battle, his nerves were a bit tense. If it weren't for not feeling hostility, he would have counterattacked.

Soldier · Gao turned his head and found it was the treatment witch he had saved before. He knew his spring was coming. Just as he was about to greet with some clumsy enthusiasm, he suddenly felt blurred in front of his eyes, and bloodshot appeared in his vision, which greatly affected his vision.

"Cough, cough..."

Soldier · Gao covered his mouth and coughed dryly. A slippery, viscous substance gushed out from between his fingers. He looked at his palm and found it was full of dark purple viscous liquid. This thing looked... very much like the body fluid of a corrupted one.

"Roar!!"

A sharp roar of a corrupted one came, and layers of black air waves spread because of this roar. Soldier · Gao's pupils shrank violently. He was already somewhat familiar with this sound; it was the roar of a corrupted one. He looked at the source of the sound and actually found that the source was his captain.

At this time, the captain was hunching his body. With a few crisp sounds of pop, pop, pop, bone spurs broke out from his back one by one. Scale-like keratin grew on the captain's arms. His entire body's blood vessels were revealed like flowing magma. Those scorching red vertical pupils represented that this was already a corrupted one.

Seeing this scene, soldier · Gao was terrified. He immediately pulled out the kinetic energy firearm on his waist. After pulling the trigger, the kinetic energy firearm emitted a beep-beep-beep alarm sound, representing unauthorized illegal use, which made him a bit confused. After looking at the kinetic energy firearm like a large pistol, he found that a hand claw that was as scorching red as magma was holding the kinetic energy firearm.

"What is... this?"

Boom!

A large warship behind fell obliquely. From the broken opening where the fire was burning, corrupted ones swarmed out. They were still hanging with some battle armor fragments, clearly the standard battle armor of the Wizard Legion soldiers.

Invisible to the naked eye, and even capable of shielding perception, corrupted fungi drifted in the air. The groundwater that had been polluted before began to corrupt the ground upward. The black clouds in the sky were deep, and purple-black raindrops fell. That's right, this was the means of the Calamity Legion, deep corruption. And the corrupted ones eliminated by the Wizard Legion, 90% of them were intentional cannon fodder.

With a boom, the flagship dragged fire and fell. The metal cabin wall was broken through, and a large number of corrupted ones ran out on four legs. In the end, Supreme Commander · Gideus walked out limping. When he was in the purple rain, white flesh tissue grew wildly and clung to his body.

In the end, this Supreme Commander · Gideus of the Wizard Legion turned into Baron Death Curse, one of the three followers under the Corruption Lord. Just now, Baron Death Curse was beheaded and killed, which was simply a trap.

In the quiet bedroom, Su Xiao was in meditation. Suddenly, a kind of corrupt malice spread. It wasn't aimed at him, but the entire Witches' World would be eroded by this. Because he was in a state of meditation, his perception of the world was sharp, so he had this feeling at this time.

The Wizard Legion should have been defeated. This was Su Xiao's first guess after sensing the "corrupt malice." Of course, he never thought that the Calamity Legion could defeat the Witches' World. If both sides fought to the death regardless of the cost, the winner would definitely be the Witches' World. This was a problem of the price paid, not victory or defeat.

Both sides knew this, so the Corruption Lord behaved very restrained. After destroying Sky City, he didn't let the corruption spread again. Regarding why the Witches' World wasn't stronger, it wasn't that they didn't want to, but they couldn't. Fighting the Calamity Legion to the death could indeed win, but once the Meteor Star attacked in a big way, that might be the beginning of the Witches' World's destruction.

The invasion of the Calamity Legion, for the Moon Witch · Serithis, wasn't a key major event, but the aftermath of the Ancient King's death. When this aftermath ended, the truly important things for her would begin.

So the attitude of the Moon Witch · Serithis was to pass this stage as soon as possible. The problem also lay here. The Wizard Legion suffered a crushing defeat

The Moon Witch previously proposed entrusting the Zerg to resolve this matter, thinking that this stage could be resolved as quickly as possible. The problem is that the Zerg entering the field directly is equivalent to slapping the Wizard Legion in the face. The current situation is the exact opposite: the Wizard Legion side has already been beaten into a state of self-isolation and has hurriedly hidden back in the Giant Armor City. The Supreme Commander, Gideus, is even more ashamed to face the Moon Witch's trust and is preparing to resign to take the blame.

It is said that if it weren't for his adjutant being quick-witted enough, this old commander would have already quietly piloted a combat aircraft, returned to the battlefield of Sky City, and set out alone to crusade against the Calamity Legion once more.

In fact, this old commander is very capable. Over the years, the tribes in the Southern Border Great Swamp Wetlands have been beaten by him until they were howling. He has guarded that place for most of his life and is one of the people the Moon Witch trusts most. Unfortunately, at this moment, this is already an enemy in disguise, and the acting is top-notch. Gideus's command of the Wizard Legion against the Calamity Legion this time, described in data, is:

(Level 60 Wizard Legion) VS (Level 97 Calamity Legion).

It is normal that they couldn't win. Not being completely wiped out is already a sign of disciplined retreat. Of course, not being able to win is temporary; there is a Level 110 monster that hasn't entered the field yet.

Ending his meditation, Su Xiao felt the recovery of his injuries; they had recovered by eighty percent, and he would likely be back to his peak state in about 2 to 3 days.

Opening his skill list, Su Xiao saw the "Heavenly Wrath: Torrent Slash" ability. At this moment, the edges of this ability were flowing with a golden shimmer, representing that the seal authorization was about to expire. Currently, this ability is at Lv. 50, and it has a characteristic where its level will be synchronized with Blade Master, and it will improve as the level of Blade Master increases.

Su Xiao's Blade Master ability is Lv. 87. He took a deep breath, feeling his Strength, Agility, and Stamina attributes, all at 539 points. He estimated that raising "Heavenly Wrath: Torrent Slash" to Lv. 87 should be no problem. This is not arrogance, but the confidence gained after mastering multiple Law-Extinguishing abilities.

Su Xiao chose to lift the upgrade seal on the "Heavenly Wrath: Torrent Slash" ability. The next second, he felt as if endless Boundary Thunder was erupting within his right arm, but the excruciating pain deep in his soul was very brief. A beautiful day ended just like that.

Not knowing how much time had passed, Su Xiao opened his eyes. As soon as he opened them, he saw Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang's dog head leaning in close, along with anxious and worried little eyes, and the hot air it was exhaling.

Su Xiao sat up and patted Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang's dog head. His right arm still had a slight stinging sensation. He was just about to check the upgraded "Heavenly Wrath: Torrent Slash" ability when Bahar, on the back of the chair beside him, said: "Boss, the Moon Witch is here."

"Have the three of them come?"

"They're here."

"……"

Su Xiao got up and went to the restaurant next door. Afterward, he saw Caesar, who was full and had packed up quite a few ingredients, the Toad who was picking his teeth with his mouth wide open, and the Violent Rat holding a bottle of wine. The three scumbags of the Arbitrators were all gathered.

Seeing Su Xiao come, the three scumbags of the Arbitrators all stood up and went downstairs with him, walking toward the inner hall on the first floor.

At this time, in the inner hall on the first floor, the Moon Witch, who was sitting in a chair with her eyes closed to rest, opened her eyes. Standing behind her were the Old President and Lady Silver.

Amu pushed open the door. Su Xiao, Caesar, the Toad, and the Violent Rat walked into the inner hall. Caesar sat in the C-position of the high wooden chair, Su Xiao sat on a single sofa, and the sheathed long sword was drawn from his waist and placed on the coffee table in front of him. Meanwhile, the Toad and the Violent Rat sat on the three-person sofa to the side.

"This, honorable lady, are you looking to hire us to deal with the Calamity Legion? May I ask if you simply want to repel the Calamity Legion, or do you want to enjoy one of several packages? If you purchase a package, we can give your side a twenty percent discount."

Caesar spoke with a face full of cunning smiles. After speaking, he even took out the 【Endless Greed Shabby POS Machine】 from his pants pocket.

"The package is……"

Lady Silver was a bit confused. Seeing this, Caesar immediately explained:

"This depends on the extent to which your side wants to deal with the Calamity Legion. For example, the 'Bankrupt' package: we guarantee that while repelling the Calamity Legion, we will also leave them penniless."

"This……"

Lady Silver's expression was a bit spectacular for a moment.

"This radiant old lady, please trust our professionalism. Similar shady dealings…… *cough cough! * Similar business, we are already very proficient."

Caesar simply pulled out a price list and handed it to Lady Silver, whose expression became even more spectacular.

Moon Witch Cecilis watched Su Xiao, Caesar, the Toad, and the Violent Rat opposite her without saying a word. For some reason, after seeing these four guys appear just now, she suddenly had the feeling that the Calamity Legion was about to face a great disaster.
