Chapter 812

【Special Mission: Caesar's Crisis】

Difficulty Level: lv. 23

Mission Introduction: In the name of Nicholas Caesar, help Carlos clear the unknown energy from his body.

Mission Information: The unknown energy in Carlos's body has formed a low-level symbiosis with Carlos.

Mission Deadline: 3 natural days.

Mission Reward: Caesar's gratitude.

Mission Penalty: Caesar's favorability reset to zero, Carlos's favorability -1000 (Enemy).

Su Xiao had triggered a mission of unknown nature. If he had triggered a mission with other plot characters, Su Xiao might have been in a good mood. As for from Caesar...

Su Xiao glanced at Caesar. This guy was grinning foolishly with a mouthful of yellow teeth. Caesar's goal was obvious: to drag Su Xiao onto his pirate ship.

"Caesar, even getting something for nothing has its limits."

After a period of contact, Su Xiao had some understanding of Caesar's character.

There were many traps in this mission. First, Su Xiao had to treat Carlos in Caesar's name. That is to say, even if he successfully helped Carlos clear that energy, Carlos might not thank him, but instead credit the favor to Caesar. After all, Su Xiao was the assistant Caesar found. So this 'in the name of Nicholas Caesar' was very problematic.

Secondly, regarding the reward, a reward like 'Caesar's gratitude' was very suspicious. Given Caesar's character, his gratitude would likely be some 'bizarre' things, such as a broken bowl with a chipped edge, a bowl of soup? Or perhaps just a verbal thank you.

Don't think this is absurd. Given the thickness of Caesar's skin, there was a 70% or higher chance of this happening. Even if Caesar's conscience were awakened, that so-called gratitude would be heavily watered down.

"My dear friend, what are you saying? How could Caesar..."

Before Caesar could finish speaking, Su Xiao spoke: "Xiang Bubu, bite him!"

The reckless Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang didn't care what kind of special plot character Caesar was. In Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang's eyes, Caesar was just a green-skinned little dwarf, so it went up and bit him.

"Wait, you silly dog, we are friends. Do you have the heart to bite me... Awoo!"

Caesar let out a miserable shriek. Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang bit him on the butt, shaking its dog head from side to side. To help Su Xiao deal with Caesar, Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang also temporarily threw away its integrity.

"Stop, stop, stop! I'll show you a good thing."

Hearing Caesar's words, Su Xiao raised his hand, and Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang let go. This policy of 'closing the door to release the dog' clearly made the stingy Caesar somewhat helpless.

"I obtained that thing by chance; it was a few years ago."

Caesar walked into the bedroom, and the sounds of rummaging came from inside. A long while later, Caesar walked out of the bedroom holding a black brooch.

This brooch looked somewhat like a name tag. It wasn't large, and if worn on the collar, it wouldn't attract attention.

The brooch emitted a dark purple light, a light so deep and profound, as if it had been reinforced several times within the Reincarnation Paradise.

"Help me solve the trouble at hand, and this thing is yours. Although I don't know its function, my intuition tells me that this thing I got from a corpse is not bad."

Caesar only knew that the thing in his hand was an ornament, and for Caesar, this thing had no use whatsoever; he couldn't use it at all.

When Su Xiao touched the black brooch, his body stiffened for a moment. This was the equipment he had been searching for!

Set Effect 2: Melee Expert (Passive), Melee damage increased by 40%, Maximum Health +20%.

Set Effect 3: (Invisible)

Su Xiao remained calm, although his heart was very excited right now. One of the Demon Hunter sets he had been bitterly searching for for a long time was right before his eyes.

To find this thing, Su Xiao didn't know how long he had searched in the trading market, yet there were no clues. It seemed that apart from the 'Ring of the Demon Hunter,' the other two pieces simply didn't exist.

Just today, Su Xiao finally found one of the components of the Demon Hunter set; this was a brooch.

Actually, the attributes of the three pieces of the Demon Hunter set themselves weren't very strong. What was strong was the set attribute activated after collecting all three: Strength +15, Agility +10, Stamina +10, Melee damage increased by 40%, Maximum Health +20%.

What kind of concept is this? For any melee fighter, these were all dream bonuses.

However, the quantity of Demon Hunter sets was too scarce. Su Xiao had killed many strong enemies in previous derived worlds and completed many hidden missions, but he hadn't even obtained a clue about the Demon Hunter set.

Now, a piece of the Demon Hunter set appeared before Su Xiao. He suspected that this thing was dropped after another contractor died in this world and was subsequently obtained by Caesar.

The origin of this equipment wasn't important; what was important was how to get his hands on it.

Rob it by force? Clearly not possible. Black Earth Fortress was garrisoned by over a hundred thousand troops, and the relationship between Caesar and Carlos was extraordinary. Robbing by force was the most stupid method.

And looking at Caesar's intent, this was clearly the reward for treating Carlos.

"What is the function of this thing?"

Su Xiao said this deliberately. If Caesar realized he was yearning for it, given Caesar's character, getting this thing would be harder than ascending to heaven.

"Eh~ this thing, uh~ that~"

Caesar was speechless for a moment.

"The workmanship is quite fine, no alchemical fluctuations. Is this a magical artifact?"

Su Xiao examined the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】, his gaze very critical.

"Cough~ That's right, this is a magical artifact. My dear friend, as long as you help Caesar solve the current trouble, this thing belongs to you."

Caesar actually didn't know what this thing was; he just felt that it had some value, belonging to the category of things that are tasteless to eat but a pity to discard.

"This..."

Su Xiao took the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】. Regrettably, he didn't obtain ownership of the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】.

"If this thing is the reward, it's not impossible, but it needs to..."

"Deal!"

Caesar roared urgently; he heard that Su Xiao still wanted him to add benefits.

"..."

Su Xiao stared at Caesar, and Caesar had the look of a dead pig not afraid of boiling water.

"My dear friend, the deal has been struck. Let's start quickly."

Caesar snatched the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 from Su Xiao's hand. Su Xiao didn't show the slightest look of regret.

"After it's done, I want to be a Captain."

Su Xiao's meaning was obvious: promotion and salary increase. Of course, this was just a smoke bomb. The contractor battle royale was about to begin. By then, official rank wouldn't be of much use to Su Xiao; he wasn't good at leading troops in battle or winning people over.

"Captain..."

Caesar rubbed his chin with his hand. He appeared to be hesitating, but in reality, he was secretly happy that he didn't have to pay anything else.

"Deal. After it's done, you will wear this brooch and become a Captain."

"Deal."

Su Xiao accepted that special mission. The special mission reward had already become: 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 + Captain official rank.

Xiang Ignoring Bubu Wang quietly turned its head and sighed. That little look seemed to be saying: "Master, your acting is truly good."

Su Xiao felt relieved in his heart. The 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 could not be lost. Using a Captain position that Carlos could confer at will as a cover was most appropriate. As for letting Caesar add other benefits, Su Xiao hadn't considered it at all. Given Caesar's level of stinginess, taking out the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 was already his limit.

If Su Xiao had readily agreed earlier, it wouldn't have worked; that would have made this matter very troublesome. Caesar was not easy to deal with. If he discovered something was wrong, he would immediately put away the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 and raise the price. Fortunately, Su Xiao was calm and meticulous enough not to let Caesar detect anything abnormal.

Now that things had reached this point, it was time to test Su Xiao's 'alchemy level.' However, the method Su Xiao used to help Carlos clear the unknown energy in his body was not alchemy; that was just a front.

If things went well, Su Xiao could also obtain a very large profit. Perhaps that profit would be no less than the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】. This was also the profit he originally wanted to obtain; the 【Proof of the Demon Hunter】 was an unexpected harvest.

Man proposes, God disposes. Su Xiao had already tried his best to do what he could to the best of his ability.
