Chapter 169: Preparing for the College Entrance Exam

By the end of May, the college entrance exam entered countdown mode, and the review for the third year of high school also entered the final sprint stage.

Education Bureau Director Lu Fan cared about the third-year high school students. During this period of time, except for the meetings that must be attended, as long as there was time, Lu Fan would go to the High School to go all out to participate in the logistics support work.

As time went by, the third-year high school students gradually recognized this young Director who didn't look much older than them. Moreover, this Director often appeared on campus, as if he was "staring" at them all day long, which made some students feel a little curious.

However, this Director is very good. He would add meals to everyone from time to time. Last night, he distributed a chicken leg to everyone for dinner; today, he sent ten watermelons to each class; I heard that the electric fans newly installed in classrooms and dormitories were also ordered by him!

Lu Fan interpreted what is called care and dedication with practical actions, making third-year high school teachers and students feel warmth and strength.

At such a tense and critical moment, Lu Fan gave care and encouragement to the students, just hoping that every student could enter the exam hall with confidence to meet the challenge, achieve excellent results, realize their dreams, and replace him to taste the college life he dreamed of!

On June 3rd, County Party Committee Secretary Gao Yuanfei investigated the safety preparation work for the college entrance exam, checked the safety preparation work for the college entrance exam of the County High School, actually checked the exam room layout, exam point safety channels, video monitoring room, confidential room, and other important places, learned in detail about the exam room arrangement, and listened to the report of Education Bureau Director Lu Fan on the preparation work for the college entrance exam.

Gao Yuanfei pointed out that the college entrance exam is related to thousands of households, so it is necessary to strengthen service guarantees and do everything possible to create a safe and comfortable exam environment for candidates. We must provide all-round and humanized service guarantees for candidates in terms of traffic guarantee, food safety, medical services, weather information, environmental noise control, etc. We must strengthen comprehensive management, improve emergency plans, improve the ability to prevent and dispose of emergencies, ensure orderly and foolproof, and ensure the successful completion of the 2014 college entrance exam work.

This month, guaranteeing the college entrance exam and middle school entrance exam is the primary task of the whole county. The Secretary has "shown his face," so County Chief Hu Chengwei naturally is not willing to fall behind.

On the afternoon of June 4th, Ningyang County Deputy Secretary and County Chief Hu Chengwei led Deputy County Chief Zhao Sijie to investigate and supervise the preparation work for the college entrance exam. Responsible persons from the Government Office, Education Bureau, Health Bureau, Public Security Bureau, Urban Management Bureau, Industry and Commerce Bureau, Traffic Police Brigade, and other departments accompanied the investigation.

Hu Chengwei checked the security check process, exam room preparation, patrol control room, listening broadcast room, exam office, and other places one after another, and learned in detail about exam organization, test paper confidentiality, safety security, power traffic guarantee, and surrounding environment rectification.

Hu Chengwei pointed out that the college entrance exam is a major livelihood event, related to the future and destiny of thousands of students, and related to the vital interests of the masses. Departments at all levels must attach great importance to it in their thinking, earnestly enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency for doing a good job in college entrance exam preparation, highlight the requirements of "practical, detailed, fine, accurate, strict, fast," grasp the preparation work for the college entrance exam solidly, in detail, and well, and ensure foolproof.

Hu Chengwei emphasized that it is necessary to do a good job in traffic control, fire safety, food safety, noise, and surrounding order maintenance at the exam point, create a safe, orderly, stable, and warm exam environment for students, and ensure the smooth progress of the college entrance exam. We must do a good job in service guarantees for candidates, create a good atmosphere for preparation, and ensure that the vast number of candidates take out their state, results, and level.

That night, Hu Chengwei's "majestic" image appeared in Ningyang News, sincere and full of concern for the college entrance exam.

The whole city is a "show field," and Ningyang is closest to the Yingjiang city area.

On June 5th, Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee member and Municipal Party Committee Secretary Zhou Xi came to Ningyang County to check the preparation work for the college entrance exam. County Party Committee Secretary Gao Yuanfei, County Chief Hu Chengwei, Deputy County Chief Zhao Sijie, Education Bureau Director Lu Fan, and others accompanied the inspection.

Zhou Xi actually checked the confidential room, exam office, video monitoring room, and exam room, learned in detail about the construction of exam style and discipline, test paper safety and confidentiality, exam room video monitoring, exam point surrounding environment, candidate service guarantee, and other pre-exam preparation work, and expressed condolences to the vast number of teachers fighting on the front line of the college entrance exam.

Zhou Xi emphasized that the college entrance exam affects thousands of families and is related to the life dreams of all candidates. Party committees and governments at all levels must strengthen the sense of responsibility for the college entrance exam, strengthen leadership, clarify responsibilities, grasp implementation, earnestly ensure that responsibility implementation is in place, supervision and management are in place, and service guarantees are in place, and do everything possible to create a safe, reassuring, fair, and just exam environment for candidates. We must improve the ability to prevent and dispose of emergencies, ensure orderly and foolproof, and successfully complete the 2014 college entrance exam work.

During the investigation, an unexpected small episode occurred.

Municipal Party Committee Secretary Zhou Xi suddenly cast his gaze on Lu Fan, and asked with doubt on his face: "Lu Fan, I remember you were in the Baishu Bay Township Government before? How did you suddenly become this Education Bureau Director?"

Facing Zhou Xi's inquiry, Lu Fan felt a trace of unwillingness in his heart, but replied calmly: "Secretary, I firmly obey the organization's arrangement. No matter which position I am in, I will devote myself wholeheartedly, do one line, love one line, specialize in one line, and refine one line. The cause of education is related to every household. The County Party Committee and County Government entrusted this heavy burden to me, making me feel that the responsibility is heavy and the mission is glorious. Only by working diligently and performing duties can I be worthy of the organization's trust and be worthy of the expectations of the people of the whole county. This year, we in Ningyang have confidence in creating historic good results in the college entrance exam!"

"Then I will wait for your good news. After the college entrance exam results are announced this year, I will pay attention to Ningyang's results. Don't blow the cowhide!" Zhou Xi said, and took a meaningful look at Gao Yuanfei!

Returning to the office in the afternoon, Admissions Office Director Yan Guangliang came in to ask for instructions: "Director, the exam work meeting will be held tomorrow. How should we grasp the invigilation scale today?"

Lu Fan asked: "Guangliang, let me ask you first, if the invigilator has a

"Director, it's like this: if there is any violation, their invigilation duties must be terminated immediately, and the Education Bureau will give them criticism and education, admonishment talks, orders to write self-examinations, circular criticisms, and cancel their qualifications in terms of awards, promotions, professional title assessments, job appointments, salary increases, and talent program applications."

"If it involves participating in cheating, then it depends on whether they used exam fraud to seek improper benefits. If so, it violates laws and regulations and constitutes a crime, which should be seriously investigated for criminal responsibility by judicial organs in accordance with legal procedures."

Lu Fan nodded and said: "That means the power of handling it is in the hands of the Education Bureau. Guangliang, you must know that the college entrance exam is a competition between our Ningyang students and the whole province. A difference of one point can mean hundreds or even thousands of people, and it might make many of my candidates miss out on their ideal schools! The momentum of this year's senior students is very good, and Ningyang's high school education needs good results to boost morale and lay a foundation for the second half of the year's enrollment. I think that no trouble during the college entrance exam is the main theme of invigilation, and at the same time, we must protect our invigilators and candidates, giving them a comfortable exam environment!"

Yan Guangliang said thoughtfully: "Director, I understand!"

Lu Fan laughed: "Really understand? If you understand, then implement it!"

"Okay, Director, I know what to do. After work, I'll go take a stroll around the High School."

On the afternoon of June 6th, the 2014 Ningyang County National Unified College Entrance Exam Work Conference was held at the County High School. Provincial and municipal inspectors, Deputy County Chief Zhao Sijie, all members of the exam area committee, and all exam-related personnel attended the meeting.

The meeting made detailed arrangements for exam scheduling and precautions, and the provincial and municipal inspectors gave speeches on the college entrance exam work.

Deputy County Chief Zhao Sijie pointed out that since it concerns the future and destiny of candidates, all relevant units must adhere to the highest standards and strictest requirements, serve the candidates wholeheartedly, strive to create a comfortable and harmonious exam environment for all candidates, and go all out to organize all aspects of the college entrance exam; they must carefully do a good job in security and confidentiality, severely crack down on exam cheating, continuously increase the intensity of hidden danger investigation, properly handle exam-related emergencies, and ensure that the exam process is safe, stable, and orderly.

Education Bureau Director Lu Fan made a statement, expressing that the college entrance exam is an important task for recruiting and recommending talent for the country, and also an important platform for many students to realize their life dreams after years of hard study. The Education Bureau will definitely attach great importance to it, earnestly perform its duties, and do a good job in weak links, especially the foreign language listening part, which needs strengthened control to reduce interference; they must prepare emergency plans for various situations that are prone to occur during the exam work.

The college entrance exam is regarded as a single-plank bridge; it is like a huge chasm that divides life into two completely different stages.

With the college entrance exam approaching, for many families, this is undoubtedly a crucial life exam. It is not only a challenge faced by children, but also a test that parents must go through.

Those parents who long for their children to become successful are more nervous than the teachers at this moment—they have raised their children with great hardship, and now witnessing the critical moment when their children are about to undergo a transformation, how can they not feel nervous?

The air in the entire Ningyang county seat seemed to be filled with a tense atmosphere, as stuffy as being covered by a quilt, making people feel an indescribable heat.

After work, Lu Fan took a stroll on the street and found that many middle-aged women had spontaneously stopped their square dancing to make way for the college entrance exam.

But when he walked to the stadium, he found that there were still groups continuing as usual, and there were several residential areas nearby.

Lu Fan stepped forward to persuade them: "Grandpa, the college entrance exam is tomorrow, let's stop for a few days!"

Unexpectedly, he was met with the old man's eye-roll, and he retorted: "Mind your own business! The college entrance exam is important, but our exercise is equally important. You can't deprive us of our right to exercise because of the college entrance exam! Besides, the exam is only tomorrow; is it that precious? If they didn't study well usually, Ningyang's education is just this pathetic anyway. Is it because we danced a little square dance that they won't do well?"

They knew they were disturbing the peace, and they knew that others knew they were disturbing the peace, but they had the nerve to pretend that they didn't know and that others didn't know they were disturbing the peace!

It really is relying on their age to act shamelessly. When the college entrance exam happens to your own grandchildren, will you still say that? Whose elders are these? No one is even claiming them!

Lu Fan was speechless; reasoning with them was like playing the lute to a cow, so he directly called the Director of the Urban Management Bureau.

Within a few minutes, the urban management patrol car arrived. Two people in uniform got out, and without a word, moved the sound system onto the car and then drove away, ignoring the curses behind them.

Multi-book-title test, last day, quite important!
