Chapter 537

Zhenping County, with a long-standing and profound jade carving culture, known as the 'Jade Capital of China' and deep cultural heritage, County Party Secretary Wang Muyi was the first to send congratulations to Municipal Party Secretary Lu Fan: 1,450 met the first batch cutoff, 4,652 met the undergraduate cutoff, 371 scored above 600! After five years, Zhenping hopes to realize the 'Peking-Tsinghua dream' again, with two students scoring over 700!

First, the number of students expected to qualify for Peking-Tsinghua is set to reach a historic high: 2 science students above 700, 6 above 690, 12 above 680; among the top 20 students, those who qualify via raw scores or poverty-county policies etc. are all expected to aim for Peking-Tsinghua! Second, the number admitted to the first batch reached a historic high: the school had 2,375 applicants, 1,815 made the first batch cutoff, with the admission rate ranking among the province's best! Third, the high-score cohort reached a historic high: among the province's top 100 science students, we have 4; among the top 200, our school has 8; 80 science students scored above 650, and 460 above 600!

County Party Secretary

At 6 p. m., the Municipal Education Bureau's summary scores came out. Vice Mayor Ma Caihong and Education Bureau Director Ma Yangxing rushed into Secretary Lu Fan's office, excitedly saying: 'Secretary, a major breakthrough! Nanyuan's college entrance exam results are the best in history! We can prove to the world that Nanyuan is the pillar of Huayuan education, undoubtedly number one!'

Lu Fan smiled as he received the summary table, carefully examining: 1. The first batch cutoff numbers are encouraging! Province-wide, 900,000 people took the exam, 150,000 people met the first batch cutoff, a rate of 16.66%; Nanyuan City had 104,600 examinees, 33,100 people met the cutoff, accounting for 22% of the provincial total;

2、Breakthroughs in cultivating excellence and talent! Across the city, 18 science students scored above 700, accounting for 26% of the provincial total (80); the number of Nanyuan students expected to be admitted to Peking-Tsinghua is projected to reach 58; the provincial science top scorer went to Nanyuan! All counties and districts saw quality soar, with first batch cutoff numbers increasing across the board—this is the best performance and greatest growth in years! The first batch cutoff rate exceeds the provincial average by 32 percentage points! Nanyuan City's high-quality education leads the province!

Peking-Tsinghua Dream

Seeing that the college entrance exam results of all counties and districts had met the targets he set, Lu Fan felt deeply moved and said to Vice Mayor Ma Caihong and Director Ma Yang: 'Nanyuan has perfectly fulfilled the goals of a "safe college entrance exam," a "healthy college entrance exam," and a "warm-hearted college entrance exam." 100,000 students have completed their youthful answer sheets, opening a new chapter in life. Thank you for your strong sense of mission, sense of mission, courage to take responsibility, and pragmatic work style, which have created outstanding college entrance exam results—you are the meritorious servants of Nanyuan's people! In this year's annual target responsibility assessment, the education system must achieve an excellent rating, and we must give all teachers year-end bonuses! Director Ma Yang, after the college entrance exam admissions conclude, you shall convene a "victory celebration" to reward those who have made contributions; I will personally present awards to the model workers of Nanyuan's education cause!'

Ma Yang happily said: 'Secretary's support is our greatest motivation and best reward; the Nanyuan education system will surely rally its efforts, press forward, and create even greater brilliance!'

Municipal Education Bureau

The next day, another piece of good news arrived: Peking University sent a congratulatory letter to Xichuan County: 'Spring blossoms, autumn harvest; peach and plum trees fill the air with fragrance. For a long time, your county has upheld an advanced educational philosophy, cultivating virtue and nurturing talent with care, achieving abundant educational outcomes. It has sent batch after batch of outstanding students with lofty vision and both virtue and talent to Peking University… Your county is an excellent source of talent for Peking University. Thank you for your long-standing support and trust! We sincerely look forward to more outstanding Nanyuan students gaining admission to Peking University and fulfilling their dreams at Yan Garden, and we earnestly hope that our two institutions will strengthen exchanges and cooperation, advance hand in hand, and cultivate more top-tier innovative talents for the nation.'

This is absolutely "major" news. Upon seeing the thank-you letter, Secretary Lu Fan demanded that the Propaganda Department increase its publicity efforts, thoroughly promote Nanyuan's education brand, and let the people of Nanyuan feel more confident in their education.

Huayuan Education

Safe College Entrance Exam

The Ministry of Education recently formally approved the establishment of Zhang Zhongjing National Medical University as a public ordinary undergraduate higher education institution, with traditional Chinese medicine as its core discipline. The university covers a total area of over 1600 mu, currently employs over 400 full- and part-time faculty, and will have Academician Zhang Bolii of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a national master of TCM and holder of the 'People's Hero' honor, as its inaugural president. Enrollment will begin in 2024, with the first batch planning to admit 1500 students.

The school's initial plan sets up six undergraduate majors: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture and Tuina, Orthopedics and Traumatology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Clinical Medicine of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Pharmaceutical Preparation of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The school adopts the motto 'Diligence, Broad Learning, Precision, and Service to Society,' aiming to cultivate medical, pharmaceutical, nursing, and food applied talents with high medical ethics, superb medical skills, and a strong sense of social responsibility as the mission bestowed by the era. Taking the promotion of Zhang Zhongjing's academic thought as its duty, it strives to build a traditional Chinese medicine higher education institution integrating teaching, research, medicine, and industry, and will make new contributions to local socioeconomic development and medical and health undertakings.

Victory Celebration Meeting

The newly established university will inevitably face many doubts, as people are accustomed to scrutinizing new things with a critical eye. However, Nanyuan examinees have shown extraordinary enthusiasm for their local university, with application fervor soaring! Because Nanyuan residents are well aware that Secretary Lu has poured his heart and soul into the university right at their doorstep, sparing no effort—whether in hardware, software, or faculty strength, it holds limitless development potential and is absolutely a university that offers more than its worth! Of course, this applies to examinees near the first batch cutoff; high-scoring students will still apply to 985 and 211 institutions.
