Chapter 365: Reinforcements Arrive at the Cemetery Hill

~7 min read 1,373 words

Night fell, and gusts of yin wind swept over the cemetery hill.

At the foot of the mountain.

Han Bing walked toward the car headlights, his steps firm, but inside he was panicking—his little heart thumped so hard it felt like it would burst his chest.

"Han Bing, why are you the only one coming down the mountain? Where are the others?"

Lu Han stood by the car, his angry gaze fixed on Han Bing as he approached step by step.

The two bodyguards beside him were on high alert, gripping their guns tightly; any slight move by Han Bing would draw immediate fire.

Han Bing swallowed, trying to calm himself.

His usually unused brain kicked into high gear, racing to figure out how to get past tonight's obstacle.

The multi‑million bounty had gone to waste, a huge regret.

But he couldn't lose his life here.

After thinking it over, Han Bing put on a gloomy expression: "Boss Lu, those two brothers… they accidentally exposed their hideout, got wounded while resisting, and have been captured alive by Lin Dongfan and his men."

Saying this, Han Bing turned his head to show the wound on his face.

He then put on a pitiful, wretched look: "I'm hurt too, my gun was taken. I can't handle this, so I had to slip down in the chaos to report to you."

"Damn useless bunch!"

Lu Han cursed furiously, then suddenly asked: "How come I didn't hear you guys fire just now?" His eyes flashed with suspicion.

The longer he mixed in the underworld, the heavier his suspicions grew.

Before he made a name for himself, he lived each day in fear of being caught. Now a big shot in Jianglan Province who can call the wind and summon the rain, he still lives in fear, worried about losing his powerful backer.

This is Lu Han's real life!

He trusts nobody, not even his own younger brother.

Han Bing naturally knew a few words wouldn't fool the suspicious Lu Han, so he hurriedly explained: "Just now the three of us were hiding behind a tombstone, plotting our attack, when Yang Qing and Lin Dongfan suddenly lunged out to ambush us—we never had a chance to fire."

Rather than make up a story, Han Bing chose to tell the truth.

Lu Han spat again: "Damn worthless! Are you three dead? Even if you can't see at night, your ears aren't deaf—how could you not notice someone approaching?"

"It's mainly… we fell for a trick," Han Bing blurted out. "The loudspeaker on the hill has been broadcasting. We thought Lin Dongfan and Yang Qing were over by the speaker, never imagining they'd sneak up on us."

Hearing this, Lu Han felt his anger sink to his dantian, leaving him speechless.

That explanation made sense.

Because he himself had earlier thought Lin Dongfan was by the speaker, even considering turning off the car lights, sneaking up the hill in the dark, locating him by sound, and personally shooting him at the speaker.

Good thing he didn't go up, or he'd have fallen into a trap.

Lu Han bellowed up the hill: "Lin Dongfan, you son of a bitch! You're not that hard to beat, are you? Come down and fight me one‑on‑one—if I can't kill you, I'm your grandson!"

His voice drifted over the desolate cemetery hill, sounding eerie and faint, with a sinister chill.

Lin Dongfan on the hill wasn't in a hurry to reply.

He was feeling his way toward the speaker in the dark.

Lu Han got no answer, so he roared again: "Lin Dongfan! You little bastard! If you've got the guts, stay up on the cemetery hill and don't come down—I'll rally men and storm the peak right now!"

Just as Lu Han pulled out his phone, the hill's looping loudspeaker broadcast suddenly stopped.

Then Lin Dongfan's voice came through the speaker: "Back in Wushi Village I once killed your underling Li Jianmin with a single punch, and just now I knocked out two more of your men—each a one‑punch KO. My record stands at 3‑0, instant knockouts. Old dog Lu, what qualifications do you have to challenge me to a duel?"

"Holy shit!!!"

His rage exploded, and Lu Han lunged down the hill.

The two bodyguards beside him jumped, grabbing Lu Han urgently: "Boss Lu, don't be reckless—that guy's trained; you really can't beat him…"

"Let go!"

Lu Han bellowed in anger, startling the bodyguards into releasing him at once.

Lu Han kept his eyes on the speaker's location on the hill: "Who says I can't beat him? I've been fighting since I dropped out of middle school—I've been in over eight hundred brawls! Do I lack a record?"

The two bodyguards sulked in silence, none speaking up.

Now they saw it: Boss Lu's earlier charge up the hill was pure impulse. Turns out he gets scared too—right now his trash talk is unbeatable, but he dares not take a single step forward.

Han Bing, standing behind, was thinking how to ambush Lu Han, but the difficulty was high—Lu Han's two bodyguards guarded him closely, and any move would mean instant death.

Again from the hill came Lin Dongfan's loudspeaker: "Old dog Lu, I've got my eyes on you—you already chickened out? If you've got the guts, charge up; if not, quit the trash talk."

"If you make it out of here alive tonight, I'll write my name backwards!" Saying this, Lu Han fired three shots toward the source of the voice.

On this lonely, desolate cemetery‑hill night, the gunshots rang loud.

But they were sure to miss their target.

Lin Dongfan lay prone behind a burial mound, loudspeaker in hand, looking down on the people below the hill: "You idiot, did your dad toss you out as a baby and raise a brainless placenta? You know you can't hit anything, yet you keep firing wildly—this is exactly what 'cornered dog jumps over the wall' describes."

"Mother of the Gobi, that Lin bastard's too arrogant!" Lu Han snarled through clenched teeth, "I want him dead—dead right now!!!"

One bodyguard timidly asked: "How about trying a fire attack?"

"You damn smart!"

Lu Han, bursting with anger he had nowhere to vent, backhanded the guard, slapping him so hard his left face went numb and burned like spicy fire.

Lu Han scolded disappointedly: "It just rained hard tonight—even a three‑year‑old knows the hill's plants are soaked. How do you plan to burn it? Come on, show me how you'd do it."

"Boss Lu, sorry—I just had a brain freeze."

The bodyguard lowered his head, trembling, afraid to speak loudly.

Lu Han calmed down and thought it over carefully.

He began a meticulous plan: "Going up the hill to take him out might get us shot halfway. Not going up achieves nothing—they've surely called for reinforcements. First we turn off the car lights to hide, then sneak up the hill quietly and send everyone up there to meet King Yama, leaving none alive!"

"Boss Lu, brilliant!"

The bodyguard thought the plan was solid.

Now the situation is bad—isn't it just because Lin Dongfan and his crew are in the dark while we're in the open? If we all hid in the dark, it would become a pure test of strength.

The car lights switched off, and instantly everything around fell into pitch darkness—you couldn't see your fingers when you stretched out your hand.

Nobody could see anyone else.

Just as Lu Han and the others were preparing to take further action, five police cars came speeding toward them. The blinding high beams almost blinded Lu Han's eyes.

Lu Han raised his arm to block, hastily using his own car as cover, and hid at the front of the vehicle.

Han Bing, who had been waiting for a chance to strike, still waited for an opportunity: "Han Ge, what should we do? Why not let those two lure the police away, while I escort you to retreat via the back road?"

Damn it!

Lu Han seemed not to have heard Han Bing's suggestion.

He muttered to himself: "Although I had long suspected that Lin Dongfan would call in reinforcements, I never imagined these people would arrive so quickly."
