Chapter 462: Night Peeking? Young Master Really Isn

~8 min read 1,585 words

Bang!

The echo of the exploding punching bag seemed to still reverberate in the gym.

Zheng Qingxuan's heart raced from that heavy punch, but what made her feel uneasy was the man's calm demeanor and the faint arrogance in his expression.

Mr. Fan.

She straightened her back, revealing her elegant figure in full.

Despite her effort to stay composed, her voice was surprisingly heavy, showing no fear and even giving off an air of calm composure.

She reached into her tote bag, and with a crisp 'snap',

she slammed a car key emblazoned with a prancing horse emblem onto the nearby equipment rack, the metal-on-paint clash sounding unusually harsh.

"This is my sincerity! I'm putting up my Ferrari as collateral—just hear me out for three minutes!"

The Ferrari's prancing horse emblem seemed to embody her all‑or‑nothing resolve at that moment, refracting a cold, hard gleam under the ceiling lights, as if neighing and pawing silently.

"Lone brave one?"

Lin Dongfan's gaze lingered on the Ferrari key for a moment.

Suddenly I found myself interested in this woman—who would have thought? Beneath her vase‑like exterior lies the willpower of a lone brave one.

Lin Dongfan chuckled: "Miss Zheng, your 'sincerity' is worth over seven million—not bad! But I'd like you to take a good look at me—do I look like someone who's short on cash?"

"I know you're not short on money."

"Exactly. Since I'm not lacking funds, your kind of sincerity holds no appeal for me."

"What kind of sincerity do you want then?"

In the instant their eyes met, Zheng Qingxuan felt a flush rise to her cheeks and her heart race uncontrollably.

"What do men like?"

Nothing more than wealth and power, and beautiful women pleasing to the eye.

Could he be after…

Thinking that she could offer him neither wealth nor power, she realized she had only… Zheng Qingxuan's heartbeat quickened further, even her ears growing hot.

Without waiting for Lin Dongfan's reply,

Zheng Qingxuan glanced aside, embarrassed, and made a reluctant compromise: "If you'll spare my father and give him a way out, I… I…"

After going back and forth, she simply couldn't get the words out, her cheeks flushing like a shy apple.

Lin Dongfan teased, intrigued: "What is it?"

"I…"

When the embarrassment became unbearable, Zheng Qingxuan closed her eyes.

She then turned her gaze to the empty punching‑bag stand and, with a heroic, tragic tone, said: "If you're single, I can marry you and serve you for life. This is both my sincerity and my bottom line. If you're just looking to play around, then sorry—I, Zheng Qingxuan, am not a toy for men to mess with."

"That sincerity sounds… sincere."

Lin Dongfan smiled as he took in Zheng Qingxuan's figure and face, feeling that the heavens had been rather kind to Zheng Canghai that old codger, even giving him such a warm little cotton jacket.

Seeing that Lin Dongfan neither agreed nor refused,

Zheng Qingxuan forced herself past the mortifying embarrassment and pressed on: "Can you give my father a way out? I promise he'll never appear before you again or interfere with your affairs."

"No."

Lin Dongfan let his lighthearted smile fade and shook his head repeatedly in regret.

In an instant, Zheng Qingxuan felt as if her heart had been stabbed hard; she stared at the cold, unfeeling Lin Dongfan, and tears welled up uncontrollably in her eyes.

"Speechless!"

Lin Dongfan said helplessly: "It's not that I refuse to let your father off; it's that society won't let him go—he must face the consequences of his actions."

"But his life or death is now in your hands."

Zheng Qingxuan clearly had no interest in Lin Dongfan's lofty narrative logic.

But her tears did not fall.

Quite the opposite.

She stubbornly held back her tears.

Although her eye sockets were a bit reddened, once she set aside her pride she no longer felt embarrassed.

She locked eyes with Lin Dongfan and countered: "If you insist on treating me as a plaything and forcing me into some compromise, how are you any different from the scum of society?"

"You've misunderstood."

"I wish it were a misunderstanding, but you make me feel this way—you're using a lofty, god‑like attitude to force me to debase myself."

"Come with me; I'll show you the truth."

Lin Dongfan, too lazy to explain further, grabbed the clothes tossed aside and walked off.

Zheng Qingxuan stared, looking at the lone car key slapped onto the rack and then at his resolutely retreating back, a hint of confusion flashing across her face.

But she didn't hesitate long; she quickly snatched the key and gave chase.

The night was as dark as ink.

Zheng Qingxuan didn't take her own car; she got into the Rolls‑Royce with Lin Dongfan.

The car left the bustling downtown, turned into the urban‑fringe residential zone—a relocation settlement for the fishing village. It consisted of temporary single‑story homes, each with its own door, preserving the traditional lifestyle of the seaside fishermen.

Streetlights were sparse, and light and shadow danced over the bumpy road.

Not long after, the car pulled up silently beneath an ancient banyan tree. Not far ahead, it faced the backyard of Chen Shaokang's home.

"Lao Ba, wait for me in your car."

Lin Dongfan opened the door and stepped out; Zheng Qingxuan followed.

Zheng Qingxuan nervously scanned the surroundings; in the darkness only insect chirps and occasional distant dog barks could be heard, and she asked timidly, "Why did you bring me here?"

"To watch the show."

He waved at Zheng Qingxuan, gesturing for her to follow.

The two, under cover of night, arrived at the foot of the wall behind Chen Shaokang's house.

He gently pushed the back door, but it wouldn't open; the door was bolted from inside.

Lin Dongfan looked up at the courtyard wall; fortunately it was only about a head's height. He stepped back a dozen meters, then sprinted, kicked off the wall, and nimbly climbed over.

Lin Dongfan sat on the wall top, extending one hand to Zheng Qingxuan: "Come up."

"Oh."

Having never scaled anyone's wall before, Zheng Qingxuan felt a guilty thief's flush on her face; inwardly she resisted this disgraceful act.

But to find out what show Lin Dongfan intended to bring her to see,

she still slipped her slender jade hand into his right palm, following his pull, exerting effort to climb onto the wall top.

Once atop the wall, the backyard lay fully before her eyes.

Lights were on inside the house.

But the backyard was empty, save for a large tub filled with water.

Zheng Qingxuan puzzledly asked Lin Dongfan: "What exactly are you up to? There's no show here."

"It'll be here soon, don't rush."

Saying that, Lin Dongfan leapt down into the backyard.

Zheng Qingxuan glanced down, face full of worry: "It's so high, how do I get down?" Actually only about two meters, but to her it seemed a height that could break a leg.

Lin Dongfan stretched out his arms beneath the wall: "Jump down."

"Well..."

Zheng Qingxuan still hesitated a bit.

Lin Dongfan urged: "What's this? I've got you, don't be scared."

"Forget it, I'll climb down myself."

Seeing Lin Dongfan's open-armed pose, Zheng Qingxuan imagined jumping into his embrace, her face flushed, ears hot, heart racing.

She preferred to break a leg rather than lose face.

She gripped the wall top with both hands, slowly lowering her legs, trying to touch the ground. In the end she dangled like a fool, her feet unable to reach the ground, afraid to let go.

Desperate, on the verge of tears: "I'm about to lose my grip, quickly find something to prop my feet..."

"Prop your sister, get down!"

Unable to watch further, Lin Dongfan grabbed her long legs and lifted them up; they were quite heavy, he guessed her weight around 110.

Zheng Qingxuan loosened her hands, instinctively wrapping her arms around Lin Dongfan's neck.

The embarrassing thing she had feared finally happened; it was the first time a man held her tightly, and she was so nervous her heart felt like it would leap out.

For a moment she was embarrassed, not knowing what to do.

"You… still not letting me down…"

"Shh!"

Suddenly footsteps came from inside the house; Lin Dongfan set Zheng Qingxuan down, then she hid behind the pile of debris—fishing nets and large foam boxes—in the corner.

Those foam boxes made an excellent concealed observation point.

Lin Dongfan signaled Zheng Qingxuan to crouch low, together they concealed themselves in the darkness, eyes fixed on the backyard: "The show will start soon, stay quiet."

"Mm."

Zheng Qingxuan's heart pounded, her palms slick with cold sweat.

She couldn't fathom what this so-called show was; all she felt was Lin Dongfan's hand pressing on her shoulder, keeping her still.

Time ticked by second by second.

Just as Zheng Qingxuan could barely hold back, a click sounded—someone flipped a switch, the backyard bulb flared to life, casting a dim yellow glow, a mere 15-watt bulb.

There appeared Chen Shaokang's wife—Wu Qin—coming alone into the backyard.

Wu Qin hummed an unknown tune, walked to the tub, stripped off her clothes, stepped in to bathe, feeling as blissful as Yang Guifei at Huaqing Pool, just lacking a few maids.

This sight left Zheng Qingxuan stunned, mouth agape.

Scaling the wall to enter the courtyard!

Just to peek at someone bathing?

In a flash, Zheng Qingxuan wanted to strangle Lin Dongfan, that big lecher!
