Chapter 33: Aid from Two Uncles!
Prada City, Duke Auston's Mansion.
Duke Auston had also received news regarding Baron Carter's large-scale troop mobilization.
In his study, he tapped his fingers lightly on the desk, his brows slightly furrowed.
"Father, Baron Carter's movements this time are not insignificant; it seems he is targeting Roko."
E Lan stood to the side, speaking with some concern.
Li Li An also blinked her large, curious eyes.
"Is that Roko in trouble?"
Duke Auston pondered for a moment.
"That old fellow Carter is pathologically greedy; he must have set his sights on something this time."
"Roko Raymond..."
He recalled the son of the Marquis, who, despite his youth, was unnervingly composed.
And the cat-kin girl with astonishing talent by his side.
"Wait and see."
Duke Auston finally said.
"It is not convenient for us to intervene in the affairs of the Raymond family."
"However, send people to keep a close watch on Carter's movements and report to me at any time."
Two days later, Gold Mine Valley Camp.
Two elite knight squads arrived almost simultaneously.
The fluttering Flame Griffin banners declared their identities.
Baron Leo took the lead, dismounted, laughed heartily, and opened his arms to give Roko a bear hug.
"Good lad! How long have you been in New Wind Province, and you've already caused such a stir!"
Roko was nearly breathless from his seventh uncle's grip, yet a genuine smile appeared on his face.
"Seventh Uncle."
Baron Ban En also walked over, his burly physique providing a strong sense of security.
He merely patted Roko on the shoulder and nodded, though his eyes were filled with concern.
"Twelfth Uncle."
A warm current surged in Roko's heart.
This was the power of family.
Even far away at the border, the ties of blood remained unbreakable.
The knights brought by the two uncles totaled over five hundred, including more than a dozen Great Knights and over thirty regular knights who had reached the Knight realm.
The rest were all Knight Reservists and Knight Attendants.
This force was enough to sweep through an ordinary barony.
"Seventh Uncle, Twelfth Uncle, please, come inside."
Roko welcomed his two uncles into the largest tent.
Fula and Martina also curiously sized up these two suddenly arrived barons.
Baron Leo's gaze swept over Fula and Martina, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
"Tsk tsk, Roko, you have a good eye, lad."
"A cat-kin with heterochromatic eyes and a little girl from the Snow Fox clan—both are top-tier."
His tone was flippant, but deep in his eyes lay a hint of scrutiny.
Clearly, he also saw the extraordinary nature of Fula and Martina.
Baron Ban En merely glanced at them indifferently and said nothing.
Fula felt somewhat nervous under the gaze and subconsciously shrank behind Roko.
Martina, however, puffed out her small chest and stared back at Leo without fear, her snow-white fox ears twitching slightly.
Roko coughed lightly and steered the conversation away.
"Seventh Uncle, Twelfth Uncle, I've really troubled you this time."
"We're family; what trouble are you talking about?"
Leo waved his hand and sat down.
"Tell us, what exactly is going on? Why has that old lizard Carter set his sights on you?"
Roko then detailed the discovery of the gold mine and the conflict with Baron Carter.
Upon hearing the words "small gold mine," even the well-informed Leo and Ban En felt a flash of shock in their eyes.
A gold mine!
Even if it were only a small one, it meant a source of endless wealth!
No wonder Carter was acting so recklessly.
"Good lad, you've got good luck!"
Leo exclaimed, then frowned.
"However, an innocent man is innocent, but holding a treasure is a crime."
"With your current strength, you truly cannot hold onto this gold mine."
Ban En also nodded in agreement.
Roko had already considered this.
He looked at his two uncles and said sincerely.
"Seventh Uncle, Twelfth Uncle, I don't intend to keep this gold mine all to myself."
"I mean for the three of us to split the profits of this mine equally."
Leo and Ban En exchanged a glance, both seeing a hint of relief in the other's eyes.
Roko had not been blinded by immense wealth and knew how to share and leverage the family's power; this was a sign of maturity.
"Splitting it equally is unnecessary," Leo said with a smile. "You discovered this mine; you should take the lion's share."
Ban En also spoke up.
"Helping you guard the mine is our duty; we don't need your reward."
Roko insisted.
"No, Uncles, your coming here is already the greatest help."
"If you weren't here to hold the fort, I wouldn't be able to defend this mine at all."
"The profits must be shared, otherwise, I won't have peace of mind."
His attitude was firm.
Seeing this, the two uncles stopped refusing.
Ultimately, the three agreed that Roko would keep fifty percent of the mine's profits, with the remaining fifty percent split equally between Leo and Ban En.
At the same time, the two uncles would each dispatch a portion of elite knights to be stationed at the gold mine long-term to assist Roko with defense and extraction.
With the biggest hidden danger resolved, the atmosphere in the tent became much more relaxed.
Roko immediately gave orders to prepare a sumptuous dinner to welcome his two uncles.
Roasted beast meat sizzling with oil, strong liquor brewed by dwarves, and several specialty dishes carefully prepared by Martina and the servants.
Baron Leo ate with a beaming smile, calling it a treat, and occasionally teased Martina, who was watching the roast meat with longing eyes.
Baron Ban En was a man of few words, but judging by the speed at which he drank and ate, he was clearly in a good mood.
Fula sat quietly beside Roko, eating small bites and occasionally stealing a glance at him, her heterochromatic eyes filled with peace and attachment.
Martina fully displayed her nature as a foodie, stuffing her small mouth full while not forgetting to secretly hide a few pieces of the best dried meat.
【Favorability: 50】
【Loyalty: 30】
Watching this scene, Roko felt much more settled.
With his two uncles and the powerful knight orders they brought as his backing, he felt much more confident about the upcoming negotiations.
After dinner, Roko discussed some details regarding defense and countermeasures with his two uncles.
When the discussion ended and the night was deep and quiet, Roko finally returned to his tent.
Fula had already made the bed and was sitting on the edge waiting for him.
Seeing Roko enter, she stood up immediately, her silver-gray cat ears twitching lightly.
"Master."
Roko walked over and ruffled her hair.
"Tired, aren't you? Get some rest early!"
Fula shook her head and asked in a low voice, "Master, will the upcoming negotiations... be dangerous?"
"Don't worry, with me here, and with Seventh Uncle and Twelfth Uncle here, nothing will happen."
Roko comforted her.
He could feel the unease in the little cat-kin girl's heart.
Martina was lying on another small bed, clutching her treasured dried meat, already asleep with a satisfied smile on her lips.
Looking at the two vastly different girls, Roko couldn't help but smile and shake his head.
With them by his side, it seemed no difficulty was too hard to face. ===== CHAPTER 34 =====
