Chapter 47: Having a Baby Is Just Right
East Blue, the Organ Islands.
Orange Town.
Buggy was hiding in his secret base, staring at the newspaper he’d just snatched from a news bird, chuckling to himself.
He alternated between throwing his head back in loud laughter, as if daring anyone to hear, and clamping a hand over his mouth to stifle his giggles, terrified of being discovered.
“That idiot Shanks—if he hadn’t changed his mind back then and we’d invited Seven aboard, we might’ve become Emperor ourselves!”
Buggy smoothed out the crumpled newspaper and placed the latest issue alongside the one announcing Seven’s bounty exceeding one billion, and the one from two years ago.
“Seven, I never misjudged you.”
“Becoming an Emperor in two years? No wonder you’re my brother, Buggy! Hohohohoahaha!”
He barely laughed twice before quickly clapping a hand over his mouth.
“Almost forgot—Seven wiped out the Marine’s Shichibukai squad. The World Government and Marines will definitely come after us old-timers.”
“For safety and the treasure map.”
“From now on, I must never reveal: I’m Seven’s good brother, and once a member of Roger’s crew.”
When Seven’s bounty first broke one billion, Buggy had planned to join his brother. Now, it was better not to go.
The Shichibukai squad… just thinking about it sent chills down his spine.
Only a man as bold as Seven would charge forward with just two crewmates.
“Better stay in the East Blue. As long as I don’t run into old Karp, Buggy the Great is the coolest kid in the East Blue—wherever I want to dig for treasure, I’ll go.”
Almost simultaneously.
The bounties of the Morning Star Pirates’ three crewmembers, along with the news that Barzab Seven had become the second Emperor, spread across the entire sea.
New World, Wano Country.
Onigashima.
As the headquarters of the Beasts Pirates, most daily affairs on Onigashima were handled by Kaido’s top commander, Yanzaijin .
As for Kaido, he usually drank while sobbing.
“Kaido-san.”
Jin gently placed the freshly printed newspaper before Kaido: “A remarkable man has emerged on the sea—called the second Emperor.”
“Hmm?” Kaido lifted his head, squinting slightly.
“A seventeen-year-old brat calling himself Emperor? I’ll go drag him back and make him my top commander.”
Kaido stood and took three steps, then turned back: “Why didn’t you stop me, kid?”
Jin said without expression: “Morning Star Pirates’ captain Barzab Seven: bounty thirty billion. Vice-captain Mihawk: twenty billion. Tenghu Yisheng: twenty billion.”
“Kaido-san, their combined bounties exceed our entire crew’s. Their strength has been certified by the Marine’s Shichibukai.”
“And they were both members of Roger’s crew alongside Yutian .”
Kaido sat down, sullen.
“Brat.”
“Once I deal with Yutian and take over Wano, I’ll drag all three back… but how did Barzab Seven change so much?”
Jin grew interested: “You know Barzab Seven?”
Kaido shook his head: “Didn’t the news paper report on him two years ago?”
Sensing his little brother’s shift in mood, Kaido muttered: “He’s white-haired too, but he’s definitely not from the Lunaria clan—he has no wings on his back.”
“Of course, maybe he’s a variant.”
“After I settle Yutian in two years, I’ll go fetch him myself—you’ll see then.”
Jin nodded: “Thanks, Kaido-san.”
Kaido leaned back: “We’re brothers—don’t be so formal. Where’s Yamato?”
“Still throwing a tantrum?”
Jin hesitated, then spoke up:
“Big Brother Kaido, Yamato’s still a child. You can’t hold her to adult standards—she’s just a kid.”
Years ago, if not for Kaido’s rescue, as a Lunaria descendant, Jin might still be being bled like a lab rat by the World Government.
Thus, Jin—Abel—truly saw Kaido as his elder brother, but this elder brother had no clue how to raise a child.
Kaido grumbled: “She’s my daughter—she should be different. When I was her age, I was already on the battlefield.”
Jin sighed silently.
“I’ll get back to work.”
“Go on, kid.”
After Jin left, Kaido picked up the newspaper, his gaze locked on the front-page headline: Barzab Seven’s white hair.
“He might really be one of Abel’s kin. If so, I must bring him back.”
While Kaido wanted to drag Seven back as his commander, another pirate—
Big Mom, captain of the Big Mom Pirates, was daydreaming about having children with Barzab Seven.
“Mamamama…”
“Katakuri, send an invitation to Barzab Seven—invite the three Morning Star Pirates to our Whole Cake Island for tea.”
Hearing this, Katakuri’s head throbbed. Having a mother who kept chasing husbands to have babies was truly exasperating.
“Mom, Barzab Seven is only seventeen.”
Big Mom shuddered with laughter: “I gave birth to Perospero at eighteen. A seventeen-year-old boy? Perfect for fathering children.”
“Even if Barzab Seven says no, there’s Joraul Mihawk and Tenghu Yisheng—can all three refuse?”
“Understood.” Katakuri nodded.
The invitation was sent normally—no problem—but whether they’d come was beyond his control. A man like Barzab Seven…
Probably wouldn’t come, right?
If he did come, it could be a disaster for Whole Cake Island—such a lawless man who stormed through the Shichibukai was no ordinary pirate!
The Marine’s bounty notice for the Morning Star Pirates, and the news report on the second Emperor, had massive repercussions.
In subtle ways:
Before, when people mentioned Barzab Seven, whether Marine, pirate, or civilian, they either hadn’t heard of him—or their first thought was “Roger’s crewman.”
After the Ohara Shichibukai incident, when people mentioned Barzab Seven, their first thought was—
The white-haired man who stormed the Shichibukai, the second Emperor of the sea, captain of the Morning Star Pirates, a pirate with a thirty-billion bounty.
In entertainment terms, Seven used to have no fame or notable works.
Now? Certified by the Shichibukai!
The last pirate to shake the sea, the Devil’s descendant Douglas Barret, never passed the Shichibukai certification.
Because Barret was captured by the Shichibukai.
But Barzab Seven not only passed the Shichibukai unscathed—he rescued a little girl from it (the other three scholars were known only to Kuzan).
Sakazuki participated in both Shichibukai operations.
Compare the two—now the value of Shichibukai certification is clear. Anyone seeing Barzab Seven would raise a thumb: That man has guts!
Of course, praise is praise.
Civilians still secretly spat: Damn pirate, don’t you dare come near me!
