Chapter 66

~6 min read 1,062 words

East Sea, Windmill Village.

As the hometown of Marine hero Garp, Windmill Village lies far from the entrance to the Grand Line and major trade routes, rarely invaded by pirates.

Its reputation as the weakest sea indirectly proves the East Sea’s relative safety.

This was also why Seven originally brought Roger’s wife, Luffy’s mother, to Windmill Village.

Under cover of night, Seven slipped quietly into Garp’s ancestral courtyard, confirmed the location, then retrieved a shovel from his system warehouse and began digging.

The Supreme Great Sword Ace, directly sold by the system for ten thousand points, equivalent to exactly ten Immortal Beans.

But given Seven’s reputation as a pirate merchant king, he’d at least mark it up fivefold on the trading platform—never cheat the poor guys, only the rich ones’ points.

Heart pounding, hands trembling.

Yet when he unearthed the wooden chest and opened it, what appeared before his eyes froze Seven in place, his joy instantly solidified into shock.

Inside the chest was no Supreme Great Sword Ace—only a wooden toy knife carved from timber.

“This… how did it turn into wood?”

Sensing movement behind him, Seven turned just as a black barrel emerged from the doorway, and Luffy’s mother’s face flickered between surprise and delight.

“Seven?”

Seeing the shovel in Seven’s hand and the wooden chest on the ground, Luffy’s mother laughed, clutching her belly.

“Garp specifically told me that when you dug this up, I was to tell you: ‘Kid, surprised? Unexpected?’”

Only then did Seven realize Garp had swapped his buried sword for a fake.

“Truly surprising.”

“Saxi bù lǐ dā nà, Luffy’s mother.”

Luffy’s mother put away her long rifle: “Come in and sit a while. I’ll make you some tea.”

The Supreme Great Sword he’d longed for had been swapped for a wooden toy by Garp, leaving Seven drowning in a thick sense of defeat.

That old man is too damn sneaky.

Is Listening to the Voices of All Things really that effective?

This grudge, I’m keeping.

“Luffy’s mother, how did Garp find it? I buried it so deep.”

Two years ago, fearing Garp’s Observation Haki would detect the Supreme Great Sword, Seven buried it extremely deep—never imagining Garp would still find it.

Luffy’s mother’s eyes sparkled with amusement.

“It was an accident.”

“A while back, Garp came back, and little Ace kept going to that spot, digging and digging—until Garp dug it up.”

Hearing this, Seven sighed.

He’d been robbed—lost at least tens of thousands of points.

“Sister, are you comfortable living here?”

“Very comfortable,” Luffy’s mother said, pointing to the baby bed where little Ace slept soundly. “The village elder, Dadan, and others have been very kind to us.”

“I heard Ace is Garp’s grandson—occasionally, Marines from the nearby branch deliver supplies.”

Seven placed a pile of one hundred million Berries on the table. “Sister, this is your uncle’s gift for the little one—pocket money.”

Luffy’s mother didn’t refuse.

Before turning himself in, Roger had specifically told her: they were family—no need to be formal with Seven.

After chatting a while longer, Seven gently pinched little Ace’s chubby cheek, then rose to take his leave.

“Sister, my current status isn’t suitable for lingering here too long. Please be careful with my bounty poster—don’t let little Ace see it.”

“And don’t let him talk about wanting to become a pirate.”

In the original timeline, Ace wanted to become a pirate because he lost his parents young, learned his lineage, believed himself cursed by evil blood, and was raised by the bandit Dadan with no guidance.

Now, Luffy’s mother is alive.

Seven had repeatedly warned Luffy’s mother and Garp not to tell Ace about Captain Roger.

If, despite all this, Ace still became a pirate and joined Whitebeard’s crew, Seven would have nothing more to say.

If he could have chosen, Seven wouldn’t have become a pirate himself—he’d have preferred a formal position.

Luffy’s mother smiled.

“When Ace grows a bit older, Garp plans to train him personally to become a Marine. With you and Garp around, I’m very at ease.”

Watching Luffy’s mother’s hopes for Ace’s future, Seven said nothing more—precisely because Garp was training him that it felt terrifying.

Garp had already trained one Revolutionary Army leader; soon, he’d have a grandson loudly declaring he’d become Pirate King.

“I’m off, sister. If anything happens, contact me anytime—I’ll return quickly.”

Luffy’s mother hurried to say:

“The sword’s still in the yard. Garp buried it in one of the other three corners.”

“Nani?”

Seven strongly suspected Garp was playing tricks again—using Luffy’s mother’s voice to trick him once more with the fake sword.

That old man was utterly despicable.

But he had to try.

What if it was real? After all, it was one of the Twelve Supreme Great Swords—worth Seven digging through Garp’s entire yard himself.

“Didn’t Garp say which corner?”

Luffy’s mother shook her head: “He only said one of the corners—I don’t know which.”

“Alright.” Seven picked up the shovel.

Moments later, in the first corner’s wooden chest, Seven opened the note inside—a grinning, toothy face was drawn on it.

Fuck you, Garp.

I’ve decided—I’ll kidnap the Dragon’s bride. From now on, there will be no Monkey D. Luffy—only Barzab Seven Luffy.

Seven cursed as he filled in the first two pits, then moved to another corner to dig.

Garp, wait for me, old man.

Clang—

The sound at his ear made Seven rush to open the wooden chest—inside lay Captain Roger’s sword: the Supreme Great Sword Ace.

“Huh? It’s real?”

Before digging, Seven had only hoped for luck—he truly believed Garp had taken the sword and hidden it away.

I didn't expect this old man still has a childlike heart.

Good. You kept your grandson safe.

With the sword recovered, Seven’s mood lifted—he decided to dig the last corner too, just to level Garp’s yard for him.

As expected, another wooden chest.

But unexpectedly, inside wasn’t a wooden knife—instead, a book and a note taped to its cover:

【Kid, lucky you found it.】

When Seven opened the book, his curious eyes instantly blazed with heat—the pages were scrawled in messy handwriting:

【Fist Bone · Impact…】

【Undersea · Drop…】

【Infinite · Fist Bone…】

“Goddamn, Garp—what is this?”

No one answered Seven’s questions—only the final line, as if spanning oceans and mountains, spoke directly to him:

【When you master it, make a few changes.】
