Chapter 211: The Selfish God‑Defiler

~6 min read 1,194 words

"Backup?" Lu Mu instantly turned his head, not even minding to complain about Ying Duo, "Where is it? Bring it out quickly!"

His gaze swept over Ying Duo, finally settling on the fluorescent‑green short hair that remained vivid under the dim blue light and even shimmered slightly from the television glow.

A trivial fact: Raven has an instinctive fascination and collecting urge for glittering things.

Lu Mu reached out directly, fiddling with Ying Duo's hair; the motion could not be called gentle.

"Could it possibly be hidden in the hair? How is it hidden? A chip? A micro‑film roll? Your hair color is pretty flashy..."

He even quietly pinched a small tuft and rubbed it between his fingertips; it felt icy and smooth, bearing an unnatural fluorescence.

Wait, something seems off.......

Lu Mu's eyes narrowed slightly; he and Bai Mu Yun are not human. As Aberrant Species, they are especially sensitive to Mutation, yet even so, he only discovered after handling it that Ying Duo's hair was actually a living Mutation Source?

Suddenly, it felt as if this kid truly was… one of their people.

Ying Duo didn't resist, allowing Lu Mu to "tamper" with his hair; as long as he didn't cut it, it was fine.

The golden eyes stared at Bai Mu Yun without blinking and replied.

"I've recorded everything."

"Recorded?" Bai Mu Yun was also a bit doubtful; given Ying Duo's displayed brain condition, how could he be so hard to believe?

"All?"

"Yes." Ying Duo nodded affirmatively.

Lu Mu stopped his hand, looking at him with a strange expression, then glancing at Bai Mu Yun.

That sounded even less reliable.

Bai Mu Yun pondered briefly, then lifted his chin toward the bartender.

"Paper, pen."

The bartender immediately retrieved a notepad and a fountain pen from under the bar and placed them on the counter.

Bai Mu Yun continued to signal Ying Duo.

"Write down everything you remember."

Ying Duo stayed still, merely looking back at him quietly.

"Write it out, and then tell me the mission?"

A faint curve lifted the corner of Bai Mu Yun's mouth.

This kid still knows how to bargain.

"Write first; if there's no problem, we'll consider taking you with us."

Ying Duo seemed to accept Bai Mu Yun's condition.

He walked to the bar edge, picked up the pen, and the tip began to glide smoothly across the paper.

The lines were precise; complex energy nodes and circuits formed rapidly under his pen, and Ying Duo wrote at great speed, like a high‑precision printer, and the shush sound was unusually clear in the quiet bar.

Lu Mu leaned over to look; at first his face still bore contempt, but as Ying Duo's drawings grew deeper and more professional, his expression shifted from scorn to suspicion, and finally he collapsed onto a nearby sofa.

He couldn't help it; he truly couldn't understand these.

Bai Mu Yun watched quietly from beside, his golden horizontal pupils flickering slightly.

He knew far more than Lu Mu in this area, though only superficially; for now, at least the energy circuits he could read were correct.

Soon, several notepads were filled to the brim by Ying Duo.

"Focus on writing where the Energy Core could be constructed."

Bai Mu Yun emphasized the key points for Ying Duo to write; at this rate, Ying Duo might actually be able to transcribe the entire Design Draft from memory.

All his emotions and brainpower are being used on this, right?

Ying Duo obediently swapped to a few fresh notepads, then quickly set the pen down and pushed the sheets toward him.

Bai Mu Yun collected those sheets,

"I'll have someone do a preliminary survey first," Bai Mu Yun said, "After confirming the location, I'll request leave for you directly from Mitra Academy, and then you'll go with us."

That's letting him go.

Ying Duo nodded, and without turning around walked toward the bar exit; he was confident the Design Draft's content was certainly correct.

Lu Mu watched his silhouette vanish outside the door before lowering his voice to Bai Mu Yun.

"Is his mind a bit… twisted…?"

"That's why we need a 'professional'..."

Bai Mu Yun lifted the other glass of water the bartender had silently handed over, took a sip, and his gaze was deep.

"If that design diagram checks out, the plan can be advanced."

In the eyes of the Supervision Bureau, this draft never fell into their hands from start to finish; thus, the earlier they act, the more they can catch them off guard.

Min Tianyou lounged relaxed on the sofa, having changed into pajamas after washing, while beside him stood a nearly full‑height mobile full‑body mirror.

Min Xingyao also sat on the sofa within the mirror, leaning back leisurely.

In the center of the living room floated a semi‑transparent light‑blue holographic projection screen, its sound processed mechanically.

"So the Design Draft didn't fall into Co‑Absorption's hands?"

Min Tianyou gave a slight nod, "There was a bit of an accident........ but it inadvertently confirmed the Fate Oracle's identity—Shen Zexi—but he seems completely unaware of his own identity."

"That 'Child of Fate'?" the synthetic voice paused, "I recall the Dome's 'Artificial Divine Oracle' program was discontinued long ago."

Min Xingyao in the mirror let out a light laugh, the smile tinged with a hint of mockery.

"Yes, it was scrapped because I successfully disguised myself as the Fate Oracle they wanted, was killed by them, and they thought the mission was complete, not realizing the real Fate Oracle had already slipped onto the Church's chassis."

She paused, her tone subtle.

"Fate... really does love to toy with people."

Sister said it like that.

Min Tianyou repeated Min Xingyao's words in full, and at the end added this sentence, since the person on the other side of the screen couldn't hear sister's voice.

The mechanical voice gave no response to Min Xingyao's remark, and instead continued.

"I've already seen the preliminary inspection report of the Black Stone Mountain Range; it seems our operation is indeed effective, at least the Mutation has further begun to run rampant."

Min Tianyou's brows unconsciously knit, "I've heard some fringe towns have already been attacked by Aberrant Species?"

"Just necessary sacrifices," the mechanical voice said flatly, "The Supervision Bureau's people have already been arranging for them to relocate to the Core town."

"Also, have you ever crossed paths with that Flame City Cannon?"

Min Tianyou shook his head, "No, but at that time Bai Mu Yun and Lu Mu arrived after us; according to the operational logic, it could only have been them."

"So," the mechanical voice's pace changed, sounding especially odd, "Before you fell into that abandoned test base, the Flame City Cannon had already been lurking there and had the Explosives installed?"

Min Tianyou keenly caught the main point in the other's words.

"What exactly is that test base? The map intel you provided doesn't even mark its location."

The mechanical voice was silent for a few seconds before sounding again.

"It's the wreckage of a buried laboratory; after a selfish person committed a blasphemous act there, the former Pope sealed it completely."
