Chapter 220: Brainless or Unhappy
....... He spoke too early.
The black car sped along the dedicated lane leading to the industrial zone on the outskirts of Tianmian City; sometimes it could just catch sight of the last Air Train passing by, and the lights of the distant Slum were far and sparse.
Inside the car, the atmosphere was........ rather weird.
Bai Mu Yun drove the vehicle with focus, cleverly using his illusion ability to conceal their trajectory, making it impossible for the Supervision Bureau personnel to detect their whereabouts.
In the passenger seat, Lu Mu was obviously not so 'focused'.
Ever since that fluorescent green party interface appeared, he had been playing around with it; especially after discovering he could temporarily hide or call up that simple status bar and mini-map with his thoughts, his curiosity was thoroughly piqued.
At this moment, he was toying with a dagger whose tip was decorated with Raven-feather patterns, its cold light occasionally flashing in the dim interior of the car.
His gaze, however, was askance at the back seat, where Ying Duo stared out the window in a daze.
"Hey kid," Lu Mu suddenly said, his tone carrying a hint of mischievous eagerness, "You said earlier that your team still has some damage‑free teammates, right? How do you pull that off?"
While he spoke, his arm shot back without warning, the dagger whistling through the air as it stabbed toward Ying Duo's shoulder.
This strike was fast and tricky, the angle vicious, with no hint of holding back or joking.
Yet Ying Duo didn't turn his head, nor move his eyes at all.
At the instant the dagger touched Ying Duo's body, along with his clothing it seemed to turn into a faint phantom.
The dagger passed through that "phantom" without resistance, like stabbing a hologram—it hit nothing solid, and there was none of the resistance or flesh‑piercing sound Lu Mu had expected.
Lu Mu's arm lurched forward slightly from the force, the dagger's cold light slicing through Ying Duo's "body," but Ying Duo himself remained seated, utterly still—not even a hair moved.
"Huh?"
Lu Mu let out a surprised little gasp, withdrew the dagger, leaned in to inspect his blade's tip, then looked at Ying Duo's unharmed shoulder, and his eyes lit up instantly.
"Whoa! What is this? Phasing? Or some other space trick?"
He reached out again, this time not with the dagger but directly with his finger to poke Ying Duo's arm.
This time he didn't pass through Ying Duo's body; instead, he felt skin that was somewhat cold.
"Huh?"
Lu Mu narrowed his eyes; the nail on his hand suddenly elongated, and a second later the same thing happened.
His finger "passed through" Ying Duo's body, and the tactile feedback was nothing but empty air.
"Fun!"
Lu Mu laughed, began experimenting with various moves—quick thrusts, sweeps, even feints followed by a straight strike to the throat.
Each time, Ying Duo's body would turn "ghostly" the instant the attack reached him, perfectly evading.
Ying Duo himself remained expressionless throughout, his golden pupils occasionally shifting slightly with changes in outside light, completely ignoring Lu Mu's "harassment."
Lu Mu was now having a blast, even trying to wrap a bit of energy around the dagger to see if he could break Ying Duo's phasing effect.
Bai Mu Yun happened to glance in the rearview mirror and just caught sight of Lu Mu's dagger nearly scraping the edge of the expensive leather seat cushion in the back.
"Lu Mu."
From the driver's seat came Bai Mu Yun's voice, strained with suppressed anger.
"If you dare damage my car......." Bai Mu Yun glanced at him through the rearview mirror, making the hairs on Lu Mu's back stand on end.
"I'll toss each of your shiny collectibles off the highest tower in Tianmian City, one by one, so you can watch them smash to pieces—understand?"
Lu Mu's body stiffened instantly; he grudgingly withdrew the dagger, muttering something under his breath, but his movements noticeably restrained.
His fingers unconsciously tapped the dagger's hilt, obviously still pondering Ying Duo's amazing "phasing" ability from just moments before.
Ying Duo sat in his seat, dazed, and Yang Yixie and the others were also bored.
He had once given feedback to the officials, and as a result the upgrade added a teleport function—so why can't this be tweaked?
If not, at least give us an adjust‑time option, or a button to speed up loading.
Probably the only fun is the little figure shaking around beside us in the car, and maybe a tiny Easter egg in the dialogue between the two NPCs.
Ah, this game is most amusing just for teasing NPCs.
"Hmm.........."
Come to think of it, why do they have to go blow up the Energy Core instead of just planting explosives on the road they're currently driving on?
Anyway, as long as the train can't keep running, blowing up the middle section would also stop it, right?
Sigh, this is probably just a forced plot device.

The black car glided like a ghost into a secluded alley at the edge of the target area, finally coming to a stop in the shadow of a half‑collapsed warehouse.
The engine shut off; Bai Mu Yun rubbed his temples, feeling that even before the mission had begun, he'd already lost half his mental stamina.
What kind of divine teammates has he brought this time?
Bai Mu Yun would rather this operation be a joint effort with the Field Operations Department.
"Get out; our target area is just eight hundred meters ahead, a short straight line, but there's an abandoned conduit and early defensive barriers in between."
Bai Mu Yun was the first to push open the door and step out, warily scanning the surroundings.
"We'll sneak in slowly; there might be surveillance devices set up by the Church around here—old, but still operational."
This place has been abandoned for years; he casually pulled out the car keys, gazing at this high‑performance black sedan whose interior he had meticulously designed, his brows slightly furrowed.
If I'd known I should have swapped cars before coming........
A thought suddenly flashed through his mind.
Bai Mu Yun looked toward Ying Duo, who was slowly crawling out of the back seat.
"Can your backpack still hold anything else? Like this car?"
That sounded like pure fantasy, but thinking of Ying Duo's blatantly irrational "Space Law" ability, Bai Mu Yun still gave it a hopeful try.
Upon hearing that, Ying Duo, Yang Yixie immediately pulled up his own 【Backpack】 interface to check the remaining weight capacity and grid space.
{Item Slot: 117/120 (normal load)}
He tried placing his hand on the small cart, and the next second another slot was filled in the item bar, but the green 'Normal Load' indicator at the back didn't turn yellow or even red.
Not bad; it looks like the strength attribute points weren't wasted.
"It fits."
After stuffing the vehicle into his backpack, Ying Duo slowly nodded.
The ability to store and retrieve large vehicles on demand has great utility for infiltration, exfiltration, and material transport; perhaps after returning, one could consider stashing a tactical off‑road vehicle in Ying Duo's backpack for standby use?
