Chapter 26: He's About to Die (Revised)

~7 min read 1,217 words

Shen Zexi was about to step forward, preparing to use a gentler method to first pull Ying Duo away.

Anyway, let's first leave this terrible environment before talking about anything else.

But before Shen Zexi could grab him, Ying Duo moved first.

He did not lunge toward the trash can as Qi Hengyu had guarded against; instead, he walked toward that wall.

His fingers lightly brushed the wall, he glanced up at the moss on the nearby wall corner, which should have spread upward along the wall but instead abruptly stopped at the corner.

Under the astonished gazes of Shen Zexi and Qi Hengyu, Ying Duo stopped a step away from the wall and raised his right arm.

In his eyes, the world was another scene.

A light blue ribbon, as if cut by something invisible, truly penetrated into this wall.

The Reconnaissance skill continued to take effect, rapidly integrating and calculating the fragmentary information that meant nothing to ordinary people via some powerful logic.

Finally, several fluorescent green lines appeared in his field of view, focusing on a point in the corner that seemed unremarkable.

It's just a pity that this game didn't give him a hoe; he'll make one himself when he has time.

In the eyes of Shen Zexi and Qi Hengyu, Ying Duo seemed to have suddenly gone mad, making a gesture in the air, then clenching his right fist, pulling back his arm, and slamming a heavy punch into that brick wall.

"Bang!"

A muffled thud.

The wall violently shuddered, shedding dust and debris; the impact site showed a shallow dent and several cracks, but the wall was thick enough not to be pierced through directly.

"You brat, suddenly going crazy again!"

Qi Hengyu jumped in fright, instinctively stepping half a step sideways to avoid the flying brick fragments.

He could not at all understand Ying Duo's sudden self-harming behavior.

Shen Zexi saw Ying Duo's right fist a bloody mess, his pupils constricted, and he stepped forward to stop Ying Duo's action.

"Stop! You'll get hurt like this!"

Ying Duo turned a deaf ear to their shouts and pleas.

But that blow indeed caused his Blood Bar to fluctuate, and some red pixel blocks appeared on his right fist.

After all, he had allocated his skill points only to Strength, never to Constitution.

Force acts mutually; such a bare‑handed attack naturally injures himself as well.

Since that's the case, let's find a handy weapon.

So he raised his hand again.

Something even stranger happened.

Only saw Ying Duo's hand make a grasping motion in midair, and a heavy, cold‑metal‑glint Energy Pistol materialized in his hand out of thin air.

"Is this that kid's Aberrant Arts?!"

Qi Hengyu furrowed his brows; he had earlier guessed Ying Duo's Aberrant Arts might relate to speed enhancement, but in fact it had nothing to do with his guess.

He had seen all kinds of strange Aberrant Arts before, but this ability to conjure objects out of nowhere was still something he'd never witnessed.

No, it doesn't seem like conjuring out of thin air; could it be... Space‑type?

Shen Zexi also looked surprised, but he kept his eyes fixed on Ying Duo's gun, his body tensed, just in case.

If Ying Duo made any dangerous move, he could still stop him immediately.

However, Ying Duo's next action once again exceeded their comprehension.

He drew the gun not to aim and shoot at anyone, but gripped the barrel with both hands and lifted the energy weapon high over his head.

Like swinging an iron hammer, Ying Duo brought down the hard gun‑handle with all his might, smashing it hard onto the crack where his fist had struck earlier.

"Clang!!!"

A sound even louder than before, the metallic clash with brick, echoed in the alley.

More dust and brick fragments fell; the dent in the wall deepened noticeably, and the cracks spread like a spiderweb.

"Madman! Really a madman!"

Qi Hengyu kept cursing, no longer knowing how to evaluate Ying Duo's behavior.

Shen Zexi also finally snapped out of his shock; his mind held only one thought—he couldn't let Ying Duo keep destroying public property like this.

In the previous fight, though he and Qi Hengyu had clashed fiercely, neither dared to make a big commotion, fearing it would attract the Academy's instructors.

He and Qi Hengyu almost simultaneously rushed forward, one on the left, one on the right, trying to grab Ying Duo's arms and forcibly drag him away from the wall.

"Do you even know what you're doing!" Shen Zexi shouted loudly.

Just then, a soft "crack" sounded.

After Ying Duo smashed the wall again with reckless abandon, he finally punched a fist‑sized hole in it.

Ying Duo slipped free like a loach, ignoring the flying dust, while Yang Yixie pressed the Observation Key; Ying Duo brought his face close to the breach and peered inside.

"Damn it!" Qi Hengyu couldn't help swearing, stepped forward and grabbed Ying Duo's collar, trying to pull him back: "You're still looking! What could there be..."

He couldn't finish his sentence.

Because Ying Duo, who had maintained a blank expression, after looking into the hole for about two seconds suddenly turned his head and, in that flat tone, uttered four words that made one's blood run cold.

"He's about to die."

"Die, died?" Qi Hengyu didn't grasp the meaning at once, his grip on Ying Duo's collar loosening.

Shen Zexi, however, felt his heart sink; he darted to the wall's side, not minding the rough edges of the hole, and peered through the small opening to see inside clearly.

Deep in the alley the light was dim, and the wall hole was pitch black.

Shen Zexi struggled to adapt to the darkness inside; when he finally could see, his heart almost stopped beating.

There turned out to be an interlayer in the middle of the wall!

Between the two thick walls lay an extremely narrow gap; using the faint light filtering in from above, he faintly saw a white figure curled up inside.

If not for the obvious glint of the white hair, Shen Zexi might not have noticed it at all.

Rather than saying he was hiding inside, this person seemed more like someone who had been killed and his corpse hidden there; what made Shen Zexi's scalp go numb was that he faintly saw on Luo Jinyou's exposed neck and arm skin, a dark red pattern like a spider web appearing.

His body was still twitching unnaturally, he looked extremely painful, his forehead pressed against the cold wall.

At least he was still alive.

"Someone's inside! He's still alive!"

Shen Zexi's voice was trembling; he immediately turned around, his face turning extremely grim, obviously realizing the seriousness of the problem.

"He's already lost consciousness, and his condition is terrible; it might be a faint caused by excessively high Mutation Value."

"What?!"

Qi Hengyu was also stunned upon hearing that; they had just found a corner to spar, how could it almost turn into a fatal incident?

He didn't even have time to attend to Ying Duo, he moved closer and tried to see the situation inside; although he couldn't see clearly, he could still tell that there was indeed a person lying there, and the situation was not optimistic.
