Chapter 19: Four Days Ago (End)

~7 min read 1,317 words

Lu Ming rummaged two bags of bread from his backpack, confirming his altered body could still eat normal food, tore open the packaging and took a bite; luckily, though the taste was odd, it was still acceptable.

Holding the bread in his mouth, he kept searching, finding several textbooks, then a phone, and also a diary.

Lu Ming set his backpack aside and spread the diary open.

The diary recorded the Original Owner's experiences from the first time arriving at the island school; it mentioned Yang Xin many times, showing a very good relationship with Ling Chang'an.

Lu Ming flipped straight to the last page and learned that last night the Original Owner's close friend Liang Shu had gone out together to look for monsters.

Just as he was about to look at his phone, the door sounded, and his awareness sharpened.

"Who?" Lu Ming called from the doorway.

The voice replied immediately: "A guest, the Inn's proprietress."

Lu Ming raised his gun, opened the door a crack, exposing half his face: "What is it?"

The girl from the reception desk was standing behind the proprietress.

The proprietress gave an apologetic smile: "Sorry, my daughter was careless; the Registration Form is already usable, we took a new one, so you'll have to fill it out again."

Lu Ming glanced at the girl, who hummed and turned her head away.

"Child, what's going on today? Such rudeness?" the proprietress pulled the girl and pushed her toward Lu Ming.

The girl fidgeted, then reluctantly took the Registration Form: "Really sorry."

Sorry...

It should be safe; Lu Ming opened the door, took the Registration Form and began to write.

"Hey." The proprietress suddenly leaned in: "Are you okay?"

Lu Ming's writing hand paused, his face flashed a hint of confusion, but he quickly concealed it.

"Long time no see, remember Bai Aunt?" the proprietress, ignoring the Registration Form, examined Lu Ming: "Why haven't you visited Yang Xin's home?"

She seemed to know that the Original Owner had already been back for a while.

Lu Ming quickly replied: "Just arrived at the Dock, Yang Xin hasn't had time yet; the luggage is a lot, so I'll rest first."

The proprietress glanced behind Lu Ming: "Where did you put the luggage? Need help?"

"Left it at the Dock, sorry for the trouble," Lu Ming said.

Now that the area is safe, he must move elsewhere, because the other side can easily contact Yang Xin.

The proprietress said "Alright" and took the Registration Form from Lu Ming's hand: "All yours, no need to be polite."

After the two disappeared down the hallway, Lu Ming immediately closed the door, when suddenly a hand reached in.

"Wait!"

Lu Ming turned his head; the girl turned back again.

"What is it?" Lu Ming asked coldly.

"Liar!" Even though startled, the girl still raised her head obediently: "I didn't bring much luggage anyway, right, player?"

Lu Ming was too lazy to argue, ignored the girl, turned around and began tidying the clutter on the bed.

"What's the name, Yilin Ka?" the girl peeked from behind.

Lu Ming didn't pay attention, packed the bread and some useful items into his backpack, hesitated a moment, and also took the diary.

"Hey!"

Yilin Ka grabbed Lu Ming's sleeve, angry at the man who showed no gentlemanly bearing, but the response was a dark gun barrel.

The Live Broadcast Room was instantly flooded with messages from eliminated players and those without dungeons.

666!

"Who dared to point a gun at Yilin Ka?"

"Really rough, feeling sorry for the sister."

"Probably new, want to get to know each other?"

"Gun jammed, no bullets (dog head. jpg)."

The bullet comments flashed quickly, the Live Broadcast Room's tension rose sharply, and it was rumored that the Analyst Emperor had a gun pressed to his head, prompting some to gloat.

Yilin Ka was momentarily stunned; even though her skill controls gravity, at such close range she wasn't confident she could protect herself. If the situation persisted, she could only earn a participation reward, and the month would still be in the dungeon.

"... Calm down..." Yilin raised both hands, indicating she meant no harm: "A new player, right? Where?"

Having gone through many dungeons, she had seen all kinds of players, and could only pray that the male players on the front line wouldn't hunt others for points.

"The first batch of players?"

Yilin Ka nodded: "Yes, pointing a gun at someone is very polite."

Seeing no malice, Lu Ming holstered his gun, turned and left the room.

"Stay and don't run away first," Yilin Ka's voice came from behind: "Do you hear?"

Yilin Ka ran to Lu Ming: "Wait, let's discuss!"

"Discuss what?" Lu Ming lowered his gaze, looking at the girl who was almost half his height.

"What? Shall we go?"

The rookie seemed trustworthy, albeit a bit clumsy; although I'm a veteran player, I'm competent in combat. If I could pose as a bodyguard and follow the main storyline, I could amass points.

Yilin Ka thought to herself.

"Experience will definitely help," she added, fearing rejection.

If that were the case, Lu Ming would surely refuse, but the other, being an old player, mentioned a negative buff: "Do you know the Amnesia Buff?"

"Amnesia..." Yilin Ka thought: "I know, it appears in dungeons."

"Is there a way to solve it?" Lu Ming showed interest; if so, he would even consider spending points to buy antidote.

Yilin Ka's mouth curled into a sly grin: "If you agree, I'll tell you; it costs ten points, and if you agree I'll tell you."

Lu Ming raised an eyebrow; the other party still wanted to make a deal with him. Fine, ten points are clearly cheaper than buying medicine, and you can only exchange back in the Main God Space, also fearing a scam.

"Alright."

"Straightforward!" Yilin Ka was about to pat Lu Ming's shoulder, but recalling the earlier move, she pulled back: "Add as a friend, it's easier to locate you."

Open the panel and initiate a face‑to‑face friend request.

Lu Ming hesitated briefly, then clicked Accept.

"Okay…" Yilin Ka examined the Friend Panel, her expression suddenly changed.

Next to Lu Ming's ID, the golden S Mark stood out.

【Participated in Game: 1】

The barrage of scrolling comments suddenly stopped, after a long pause, until a question mark appeared.

【Whoa? One S Rating?!】

【S Player!】

【Bro, don't just stare, share the Live Broadcast Room!】

【New King, had I known it was a dungeon.】

【If it's the face, we can definitely have S Players Grouped Together, right?】

【Who just criticized the S Player, gets hit (dog head. jpg)】

【Streamer luck so good?!】

………………

The Live Broadcast Room's Popularity Surging instantly reached one hundred thousand heat.

"…Just New King?" Yilin Ka shifted her gaze to Lu Ming, the S Player was right in front of her!

"What does that mean?" Lu Ming realized where he had exposed his identity.

Yilin Ka pointed at the Friend Panel.

Lu Ming only then discovered the S Mark beside his ID, what it meant.

"Quickly tell me how to lift the Amnesia Buff," Lu Ming, irritated, scratched his hair.

Yilin Ka slowly nodded: "Hmm…"

After a while, Lu Ming handed a written sheet to Yilin Ka: "That should be enough, right?"

"Right." Yilin Ka looked puzzled, but still took the paper: "What's it for? Keep it yourself?"

The Amnesia Buff can only be dispelled after it becomes active, and carrying it would be discovered by Yang Xin, so just wait for Yilin Ka to send a message.

"If I get the paper, I can restore my memory, right?"

"Speaking of that..."

Lu Ming walked from his side: "Follow? We'll look later."

After leaving the Inn, the medicine's effect lasted only ten minutes, his head began to feel dizzy, Lu Ming walked along the ring road, heading toward the direction of the Original Owner's memory.
