Chapter 597: Ye Qingran Takes Action!

"Find a Beast Tamer, control the Azure Dragon inside, help it resist Dead Qi, and also assist it in breaking through the light barrier!"

Ye Qingran calmly stated her solution.

The words came out, and everyone looked at her with extraordinary surprise.

"I think this method works!" Wu Shushan agreed.

"It can be tried!" Gu Elder also agreed.

Li Daoyun nodded, "Everyone, stand down."

After the others withdrew their Mysterious Force, Li Daoyun finally stood down.

"Beast Tamer? Where can we find a Beast Tamer?"

Someone asked.

"Duan Yu! Isn't Duan Yu here?!"

The moment Duan Yu was mentioned, everyone's eyes lit up, searching the crowd for her whereabouts.

Only Wu Shushan, however, was looking at Ye Qingran.

They knew that Ye Qingran was also a Beast Tamer, stronger than Duan Yu's Beast Taming ability.

However, at this moment everyone in the Academy had placed their hope on Duan Yu, and since Ye Qingran said nothing, they could only keep silent.

Fine, if Duan Yu can't do it, they'll ask Ye Qingran for help later.

That way, everyone can also see Ye Qingran's Beast Taming skill, and tell everyone that Duan Yu's fainting that day actually had nothing to do with Ye Qingran!

"Duan Yu, are you willing to act?" Li Daoyun's gaze scanned the crowd and soon found Duan Yu.

She wore red, her temperament outstanding; even among the Academy's prodigious disciples, she stood out like a crane among chickens.

Duan Yu nodded; on her heroic face there was little startled flattery, her reaction was cool, "I'll give it a try."

The moment that voice sounded, everyone finally locked onto Duan Yu's position.

Everyone's gaze fixed on her, their eyes full of expectation.

Duan Yu is Beimingzhou's best Beast Tamer; whether the oasis can continue depends on whether Duan Yu can control this Azure Dragon!

All hope rests on Duan Yu!

If successful, Duan Yu will become a hero of the Academy, recorded in the annals!

Duan Yu marched with determined steps toward the Azure Dragon, her gaze constantly fixed on the Azure Dragon within the light beam.

In her mind, she unexpectedly recalled that scene outside the capital of the Xuan Yuan Wang Chao in the Central Region years ago.

A veil‑clad stunning woman, with a single qin melody that shocked the world, tamed a massive beast effortlessly.

That poise, that temperament, left a deep imprint in her heart; she will never forget it in this life.

It was also that mysterious extraordinary woman who changed her, making her no longer lost, and clearer about what she wanted.

These years, she has worked hard to improve herself, hoping one day to stand shoulder to shoulder with her.

Today is a great test of her ability.

"If you were also here, how wonderful that would be."

Duan Yu whispered softly; no one caught what she said.

Duan Yu stood on a high slope, confronting the Azure Dragon from afar.

She took out her long flute, inhaled deeply, and her entire demeanor changed instantly.

Countless gazes were fixed on her.

The melodious strains of the Soul Capturing Song floated, intoxicating everyone.

The moment the Azure Dragon in the light beam heard the Soul Capturing Song, its eyes widened a bit, and the whole dragon grew irritable.

The massive dragon body twisted within the light beam!

This was the Azure Dragon's first movement; before it had been still.

The moving Azure Dragon now possessed the dignity and dominance befitting its kind.

"Is this... taking effect?"

Seeing the Azure Dragon stir, everyone's inner expectation grew even stronger.

"Duan Yu truly is our Beimingzhou's number one Beast Tamer; this time she will surely tame the Azure Dragon!"

"I think so too!"

The Academy crowd was full of expectation for Duan Yu.

However, they did not know how arduous it was for Duan Yu at this moment.

Before deciding to take the task, she had already prepared herself mentally; after all, it's a Divine Beast bloodline, and although this Azure Dragon seemed insubstantial, its bloodline was there, making it very hard to tame.

As the taming process progressed, she felt increasingly strained.

The Soul Capturing Song consists of five movements; she could master the first three proficiently, and the fourth was also well grasped.

As for the fifth movement, it was on a completely different level from the first four.

She currently lacked the ability to reach it.

The only time she heard the fifth movement of the Soul Capturing Song was that year outside the capital of the Xuan Yuan Wang Chao in the Central Region.

Now she has played up to the fourth movement, but the Azure Dragon's spiritual power remains strong, showing no sign of being affected.

Her complexion grew pale, a thin sheen of sweat formed on her forehead, and a sense of helplessness rose in her heart.

The Azure Dragon's will far exceeded her expectations.

Or perhaps her ability still hadn't reached that realm!

Indeed, such an ancient bloodline Divine Beast could only be tamed by a master, right?

As for her, she was still far away.

For a moment, Duan Yu thought of giving up, but the Azure Dragon's will penetrated everything, seized that chance, and tried to turn the tables!

Duan Yu's mind and spirit jolted, she hastily went on the defensive, but she horrifiedly discovered that the opponent's will had already permeated her, like countless tendrils entwining her mental power, trying to drain and strip it all away.

Not good!

Duan Yu panicked!

The process by which a Beast Tamer tames a Spirit Beast is actually one of using mental power to communicate, even struggle desperately, with the opponent.

Some Spirit Beasts with high intelligence will first show weakness, waiting for you to lower your guard, then strike when you're unprepared.

Many Beast Tamers have fallen victim to this, lightly suffering severe injuries, heavily resulting in death.

She has tamed beasts for many years, not that she has never encountered such a situation.

But the previous dangers were far less than this one.

Duan Yu exerted all her strength to try to reclaim her mental power, and the tune of the Soul-Severing Melody visibly changed.

It turned into an eerie style.

If any other Beast Tamer were present, they would surely recognize this as the reverse blow of the Soul Capturing Song.

Forward blowing tames beasts, reverse blowing saves oneself.

This is a principle understood by all Beast Tamers.

However, the reverse blow greatly affects those nearby, feeling especially piercing, as if their eardrums would be punctured!

However, no matter how Duan Yu struggled, the will of the Azure Dragon, or rather the will of the Azure Dragon under the control of Dead Qi, almost wanted to control her!

At the critical moment, a voice transmitted into her mind.

Voice transmission into the secret.

"Embrace the primordial and guard the unity, steady the mind and spirit."

Duan Yu's pupils constricted.

This is...

Ye Qingran!

Why would Ye Qingran help her?

On what basis does she help her?

However, she now has no spare energy to worry about much else.

"The first chapter of the reverse blow, proceed step by step."

"Assist with the Soul-Slaying Melody, sever the opponent's will!"

Although Duan Yu initially had some resistance, after hearing these words, she was greatly shocked in her heart,

Ye Qingran is clearly not a Beast Tamer, so how could she know so much?

She suppressed the shock in her heart, focused wholeheartedly, and completely followed Ye Qingran's instructions.

Gradually...

She shockingly discovered that the Azure Dragon's control over her mental power gradually weakened, and she regained the initiative!

She was saved!

The inner shock excited her more than escaping death.

Duan Yu stopped playing the Soul Capturing Song, her gaze fixed tightly on Ye Qingran, and the doubt in her heart grew stronger.

The piercing sound finally disappeared.

The pain on everyone's faces had not yet faded; they looked at Duan Yu in bewilderment, not knowing why she had stopped.

Looking again at the Azure Dragon, there seemed to be no change at all.

"What exactly just happened? Could it be that Duan Yu failed?"
