Chapter 93: Diancie VS Super Big Mouth Baby!

~9 min read 1,750 words

The battle began,

Keerni and Lucario immediately Mega Evolved, but due to the Mega Evolution causing their aura to surge too much, they still couldn't hold out long before losing control.

In the end, they were easily swept away by a single Fairy Wind from Super Big Mouth Baby.

The information revealed was truly shocking.

You should know that Big Mouth Frog is originally a physical attacker, and after Mega Evolution its Ability becomes Strongman, doubling its Attack, with all stat increases going to Attack.

Yet the battle unfolded without any type advantage, as Super Big Mouth Baby used a non‑STAB move—a Fairy‑type attack with only 40 power—to KO Lucario in one hit.

The gap in their strength is easy to imagine.

This scene, seen through Keerni's eyes—who often faced Mega Evolution opponents arranged by her grandfather and had previously battled Super Big Mouth Baby—

brought an especially huge shock, leaving Keerni stunned to the point of petrifying on the spot.

……

Seeing the battle end, while Big Mouth Baby had not cancelled its Mega Evolution, Ash voiced his idea.

"Grandma, can I battle my Diancie?"

"Eh? Ash..."

Diancie looked at Ash doubtfully,

Although I didn't expect this, we had originally agreed to accompany Ash on his travels and challenge the tournament.

Naturally unafraid, she stepped up beside the fallen Lucario.

Meanwhile, Big Mouth Baby, recalling Meipulu's praise of Diancie, grew jealous and burned with fighting spirit.

"Mouth blow~ mouth blow~"

Seeing this, Meipulu was also pleased,

"Well then, I'm also looking forward to facing the Legendary Duke."

As they talked, Diancie had already walked onto the field.

Recovering from the shock of Lucario's KO, Keerni recalled Lucario, moved him to a safe spot, then sent him out again.

Clemont helped spray on some medicine.

During this, Keerni worriedly glanced at Ash, knowing full well that Big Mouth Baby excels at physical attacks, yet it had used a special attack to KO Lucario.

……

【Pokémon】: Diancie (♀)

【Type】: Fairy+Rock

【Ability】: Eternal Pure Body (will not have its stats lowered by the opponent's moves or Abilities)

【Level】: 102

【Held Item】: Diancie Evolution Stone

【IVs】: 6v

【Base Stats】: Total 600, HP 50, Attack 100, Defense 150, Sp. Atk 100, Sp. Def 150, Speed 50,

Level 102, just entered Tier‑2 God,

Compared to a level‑90 Elite Four peak, just seeing this level difference is enough to make one feel reassured.

At the same time, 102 is a number quite familiar to Ash,

so familiar that an image of a certain ground‑type dragon that can't Dragon Dance unconsciously pops into his mind.

Getting back to Diancie, its base stats are also an interesting point,

After Mega Evolution its base stats increase by 100, reaching 700,

but at the same time its base‑stat distribution gets completely reshuffled,

Unlike its normal form's sluggish 50 Speed, 100 dual‑offense, 150 dual‑defense tank setup,

After Mega Evolution Diancie's base stats undergo a huge change,

giving it 160 explosive dual offense, 110 excellent dual defense and Speed, turning Diancie into a violent sweeper in an instant.

Apart from its low HP being a drawback, it's a very interesting template.

Moreover, after Mega Evolution Diancie's Ability changes from Eternal Pure Body to Magic Mirror.

Ash is very eager to see the concrete effects of these two strengthened Abilities.

Considering the situation is ultimately in his favor, Ash didn't play the sixth wheel and bully the elderly,

Before acting, he didn't forget to give a reminder.

"Grandma, be careful—also, Diancie is a Fairy‑Rock Pokémon!"

"Fairy‑Rock? Thanks for the info—I won't hold back then, Big Mouth Baby, use Iron Head!"

Iron Head, a Steel‑type physical move with 80 power, combined with Strongman's doubled 210 Attack, plus the 1.5× same‑type bonus; furthermore, Steel is quadruply effective against Fairy‑Rock.

One could say……

This attack, even against a same‑level or slightly higher Champion‑tier Fairy‑Rock Pokémon, would definitely cause it to explode.

Although it's somewhat puzzling that Ash would reveal this crucial info just to avoid an undeserved win,

but the seasoned Meipulu won't hold back because of that.

She knows full well that the more this happens, the more she must go all out, since it often signifies the opponent's high moral character and their desire for a completely even, crushing victory.

Keerni was straight‑up astonished,

voluntarily exposing her weakness to the opponent, still being hit with quadruple effectiveness, and facing a Strongman‑powered Super Big Mouth Baby—this is… too… noble.

"Ash..."

Just as Keerni was worrying about Ash,

out of the corner of her eye she saw the unfazed Seimei, Yurie, and Clemont.

Why?

The typing is completely at a huge disadvantage; shouldn't we be worried for Ash?

But the scene that appeared before their eyes next left Keerni frozen on the spot.

Super Big Mouth Frog leapt straight into Diancie's arms; Diancie offered no resistance and calmly took the hit, merely furrowing her brow.

"This... is fake, right?"

Super Big Mouth Baby was equally baffled; normally, let alone facing an opponent with a four-times weakness,

even a Steel-resistant Pokémon couldn't just stand there motionless!

Meipulu also looked astonished; could it be... that Ash is deceiving himself, and Diancie isn't actually Fairy+Rock type at all?

Keerni likewise had a similar thought.

Can't blame her for not trusting Ash,

Indeed, the scene before them was too ahead of its time—being able to OHKO Mega Lucario with a special attack, yet a four-times weakness dealing no damage at all—is this really reasonable?

On the contrary, Serena and Clemont, who had witnessed Mega Diancie resisting Y God's attack, showed the expression they ought to have.

On the field,

Meipulu and the incredulous Super Big Mouth Baby attacked again,

This time the attack was changed to Fairy-type Play Rough.

Even the four-times-effective Steel-type attack had no effect, let alone a normally-effective Fairy-type attack,

Play Rough hitting her felt just like a tickle.

Next came the Dark-type Crunch; even four-times-effective and normally-effective damage failed, let alone a resisted Dark-type move.

"Mouth blow mouth blow~" Hard, too hard!

Biting into Diancie's body,

The Super Big Mouth Baby, feeling as if its teeth were about to shatter, was practically in tears.

How can there be such a hard opponent!

Having gauged Diancie's normal defense from the Super Big Mouth Baby's attacks, Ash finally took action.

"That's about enough, Diancie, mega evolve!!!"

In the dazzling seven-colored light, Diancie completed its mega evolution, its body becoming taller, gaining a dress-like flare that made it look like a celestial maiden descended to the world.

The gorgeous pink diamond figure made Serena, seeing her again, stare fixedly, silently swallowing her saliva.

Seeing her again, she was still that beautiful.

"Diamond Storm!"

Diamond Storm, just from the name you know it's a Rock-type move.

But Super Big Mouth Baby, being a Steel+Fairy-type Pokémon that resists Rock, how could you deal damage?

But soon,

Witnessing Diancie rub her hands to produce a huge pink diamond, one strike knocked out Super Big Mouth Baby,

easily creating a huge depression on the ground,

moving it aside, they saw the forced retreat from mega evolution, the Big Mouth Baby now unable to battle.

Moving it aside, they saw the forced retreat from mega evolution, the Big Mouth Baby now unable to battle.

Meipulu fell silent,

The old lady's gaze toward Ash was full of resentment.

If she still couldn't see the huge power gap between the two Pokémon now, her eyes must really be failing.

If you're that strong, just say so—why bully an eighty-year-old like me?

At the same time,

Ash also heard a prompt that his stage‑strengthening task was completed.
