Chapter 101: Huo La vs Natsume (Part 1)
Boom—!
The moment the words fell, the invisible telekinetic force that had been shrouding the Gym violently quivered, the surrounding wall lamps trembling with it, the light and shadow flickering.
Natsume, who had been sitting upright, subconsciously leaned forward a bit, the doll in her arms nearly slipping from her grasp; her violet eyes shed their usual coldness for the first time, flashing with genuine shock and urgency.
Huo La realized—indeed, Natsume was the key figure Sakaki had cultivated to control Mewtwo.
"How do you know about Mewtwo!" Natsume's voice remained low, but with a barely perceptible tension; Yongjila floated beside her, the spoon in its hand faintly glowing, clearly on alert.
"Don't tell me you don't know who I am." Huo La lifted his chin, his tone carrying a hint of confidence, "You should have seen the Super Ancient Pokemon research paper I published recently, right? My name, Huo La, is in the author list."
"Super Ancient Pokemon..." Natsume repeated softly, her brows furrowing, "Mewtwo is a man‑made Pokemon, unrelated to Super Ancient species."
"But Mew is," Huo La replied immediately, his gaze locked on Natsume's eyes, "Mewtwo's genes originate from Mew, and Mew's existence dates back to roughly the same era as the Super Ancient civilization."
"Mew..." Natsume fell into contemplation, her fingertips unconsciously tugging at the doll's fabric.
She had long tried countless ways to dominate Mewtwo, yet could never breach its mental barrier; Huo La's words undeniably gave her new hope.
A moment later, she snapped her gaze up, the violet eyes regaining their coldness, now edged with resolve: "Fine. I accept your challenge."
Her voice echoed through the entire hall: "The rules stay the same, one‑on‑one. Win, and the Badge and the person are yours; lose, and you must teach me how to control Mewtwo—if you dare deceive me, even with Ghost Aura protecting you, I have a way to make your life worse than death."
Huo La smiled faintly, reaching to press the Pokeball at his waist: "Don't worry, I never speak empty words."
"Go, Beedrill!" Huo La flicked his fingertip, the Pokeball arcing through the air; the moment the red light hit the ground, Beedrill flapped its wings and emerged.
"Beedrill..." Natsume's gaze fixed on the Beedrill, red light suddenly flashing in her eyes, the doll in her arms trembling slightly, clearly not surprised by the appearance of this Bug-type Pokemon.
She made no extra move, merely lifting her chin; Yongjila, which had been floating beside her, rose slowly, the silver Psychic Spoon in its hand gently swaying, landing steadily at the center of the arena.
"Sure enough, it's Yongjila," Huo La murmured low, his eyes sharp as a hawk.
From the moment he stepped into the Gym, his gaze never left this Psychic-type Pokemon; the system panel had already displayed its data clearly:

The only Bug-type Pokemon he has that can counter Psychic Type are Flying Mantis and Beedrill.
Flying Mantis is Bug/Flying, and Flying Type is precisely countered by Psychic.
Beedrill is Bug/Poison, and although Poison Type is also countered by Psychic, Poison can still affect Psychic.
"Beedrill, attack! Use Sludge Bomb!"
As soon as Huo La's command fell, Beedrill's twin stingers crossed wildly, a clump of foul‑smelling purple sludge instantly coalescing, and with its swing it hurled straight toward Yongjila.
Natsume remained expressionless, only the red light in her eyes growing deeper; she didn't even speak, and Yongjila's spoon suddenly trembled—a smooth, mirror‑like transparent wall materialized out of thin air, perfectly blocking the Sludge Bomb's path.
"Boom!" The Sludge Bomb slammed heavily onto the Reflect wall, instantly bursting into a cloud of purple slime, yet leaving not a single crack; it then slowly slid down, corroding tiny pits into the ground.
At the moment the attack was blocked, Yongjila's spoon swung again, black Shadow Energy rapidly condensing at the tip, instantly forming a rotating Shadow Ball that whizzed forward with a sharp whoosh, charging straight at Beedrill.
"Beedrill, ascend and dodge! Use Poison Needle Barrage! I don't believe its Reflect can protect from all angles!" Huo La spoke at breakneck speed; Beedrill instantly flapped higher, deftly evading the Shadow Ball's blast, then began spiraling rapidly around Yongjila.
Poison needles from its tail fired like a machine gun, a fine rain of purple darts showering Yongjila from multiple angles.
But the next second, Huo La's brows knit tightly—Yongjila hovered in place, its spoon flickering at a speed invisible to the naked eye, one Reflect wall after another materializing out of nowhere, shifting around it like shields, blocking every poison needle.
Those transparent walls appeared and vanished swiftly, their precision seeming to anticipate the poison needles' trajectories.
"Tsk..." Huo La snapped his teeth, full of envy.
Is this the telepathic link between a Psychic‑type trainer and Pokemon? No spoken commands are needed; the trainer's thought forms in the mind, and the Pokemon instantly synchronizes to act. This "Mind Unity" efficiency is something ordinary trainers cannot achieve even after thousands of trainings.
"Beedrill, don't stop! Circle behind it! Use Cross Scissor Assault!" Huo La immediately adjusted his strategy; since ranged attacks were ineffective, he would try a melee strike to find a blind spot in the Reflect defense.
Beedrill instantly understood, the frequency of its wing beats spiking, its form becoming a blurred afterimage, dashing fiercely toward Yongjila's back.
But just as its twin stingers were about to touch Yongjila, a Reflect wall suddenly materialized behind it, a crisp "clang" ringing, and Beedrill was violently rebounded, nearly losing its balance.
"Useless. Within my telekinesis range, there are no blind spots," Natsume's voice, laced with a cold smile, came from the platform.
The doll in her arms oddly turned its head slightly, the shadow beneath the brim forming a mocking curve, highlighting Huo La's futility.
Before the words finished, Yongjila's spoon gave a light flick, a twisted colored beam materializing out of thin air—an Illusion Beam—charging straight at Beedrill.
"Dodge quickly!" Huo La shouted urgently.
But he was half a beat too slow—the Illusion Beam brushed Beedrill's wing, the purple aura scorching the wing membrane; Beedrill lurched violently, its wingbeat frequency thrown into chaos, nearly plummeting straight down.
Cold sweat seeped from Huo La's forehead, his back already damp.
Yongjila's move chain had no gaps, and Natsume's telekinesis prediction was terrifyingly precise; each attack hit the exact evasion blind spot of Beedrill. Continuing like this, defeat was only a matter of time.
