Chapter 240: Wang Luo
This rare Pokémon, which carries unstable genetic material and has eight possible evolutions, was discovered by him deep in the trees of Dazhi Slope after he had caught a bunch of ordinary Pokémon.
At the time it was being besieged by a few small Geodudes, its nature was gentle but not timid; with agile positioning it barely held its ground, and in an instant it sparked Huo La's desire to capture it.
"Eevee, this will be your new home from now on," Huo La said softly, reaching out to pat its head.
Eevee recoiled cautiously, its big eyes full of wariness, until it saw the friendly Cyndaquil nearby nudging its shoulder with its head; then it relaxed a bit, tentatively touching the Cyndaquil's cheek with its nose.
The two youngsters quickly became acquainted; Cyndaquil led Eevee to dart around the bed, sometimes leaping to the fire to watch the flames, other times circling Huo La's backpack, occasionally emitting cheerful cries, and the little cabin instantly became much livelier.
Huo La leaned against the headboard, watching their play, and a smile involuntarily tugged at his lips.
He summoned the system interface, and Eevee's detailed stats immediately appeared before his eyes:
Pokemon: Eevee
Gender: Female
Level: Lv12
Su Xing: A

Type: Normal
Ability: Adaptability (moves of the same type as itself have increased power)

Weight: 6.5kg

Moves: Tackle (Proficiency 5%), Shake Tail (Proficiency 3%), Help (Proficiency 1%), Cry (Proficiency 1%), Electric Flash (Proficiency 1%)
Improvement Count: 1
Seeing the "Su Xing A" on the panel, Huo La felt a surge of delight.
A gentle nature means Eevee is easy to raise, and the Adaptability ability can strengthen Normal-type moves, allowing him to avoid many risks in both battles and field investigations.
More importantly, Eevee's unstable genetic code lets it evolve into Pokémon of different types depending on the environment and conditions.
Fire, Water, Electric, Ice, Grass, Psychic, Dark, Fairy… eight evolution forms, signifying limitless possibilities.
In Hisui, this ancient Time and Space, having such a limitless‑potential partner is undoubtedly like adding wings to a tiger.
"What a treasure I've found," Huo La muttered, his gaze landing on Eevee's fluffy tail.
He recalled the remaining Pokécoins in his backpack and thought, "Tomorrow I'll take Eevee to Aunt Bei to learn new moves. Tackle and Shake Tail are too basic; I need to first teach it practical skills like Protect or Throw Mud, then gradually develop its synergy with Cyndaquil."
At that moment, Eevee seemed to notice his gaze, stopped playing with Cyndaquil, trotted with its short legs to the bedside, gently nudged the back of his hand with its head, let out a soft, muffled chirp, and the wariness in its eyes vanished, replaced by dependence.
A warmth rose in Huo La's heart, and he reached out to gently stroke its soft fur: "From now on I'm counting on you, Eevee. We'll survive together in this world and find the way home together."
After leaving Aunt Bei's house, Huo La's sighs and mutters never ceased.
The Pokécoins in his pocket were halved, and his heart ached as he grimaced—just to teach Eevee "Protect" and "Throw Mud", and to give Cyndaquil an extra "Flame Vortex", his reserves shrank by half in an instant.
"Learning these moves is way too expensive…" he rubbed his forehead, his tone full of helplessness, "At this rate, the next time I want to learn a new move, I'll be drinking the north‑west wind. Looks like I need to find a money‑making job quickly, or I won't even keep up with training my partners."
Just as Huo La lowered his head, pondering whether to ask Dr. Laben if the Galaxy Team had any high‑pay investigation missions, a yellow‑and‑blue hat suddenly entered his view, barely shading the sun overhead.
A shock rose in Huo La's chest; instinctively he stepped back half a step, his right hand instantly pressing the Pokeball at his waist, his whole nervous system tensing.
When he finally saw the newcomer, Huo La's pupils suddenly contracted, and the shock in his heart surged like a tide—under the yellow‑blue hat was a dazzling head of blond hair, strands falling to cover his left eye; on his back he carried a bulging sack, its top piled with luggage and bedding, looking like a traveler from a long trek.
"Hm?" the blond youth noticed his reaction, raised an eyebrow, lifted his hand to his chin, and said with a hint of playfulness, "Looking at you, it seems you know me?"
Huo La forced the raging turmoil in his chest down, took a deep breath, and steadied himself.
He shook his head, his fingertips trembling slightly, yet he kept his tone steady: "No, I don't know you."
The youth raised an eyebrow, seeming a bit surprised by the answer.
Huo La paused, his gaze landing on the other's jacket, and added word for word: "But I recognize the clothing you're wearing, Ginkgo Guild!"
The blond man looked down at his own clothes, his fingertips lightly tracing the fabric pattern, and replied calmly, "Is that so?"
He withdrew his hand, stood upright again, his playful expression fading a bit, gaining a businessman's smoothness: "Let me introduce myself, I'm Wang Luo of the Ginkgo Guild."
Huo La hesitated a moment, then reached out and shook his hand, his fingertips briefly touching before quickly withdrawing: "Huo La."
He only gave his name, saying nothing more.
"Huo La…" Wang Luo repeated the name softly, "You must be with the Galaxy Team, right?"
Huo La didn't deny it, merely nodded.
"Perfect," Wang Luo pulled a wooden plaque engraved with a Ginkgo pattern from the side pocket of his backpack and handed it over. "Lately I've been staying near Zhùqìng Village to buy and sell goods. Whether it's Pokémon you've captured, rare herbs you've gathered, or anything you wish to purchase, you can come to me. Since you're a Galaxy Team member, I'll give you a special discount."
Huo La glanced at the plaque; it bore a simple "Ginkgo Guild" inscription and nothing else noteworthy.
He didn't take it, just nodded again: "Got it."
"Sorry, the Star Moon Squad Leader has business with me, I have to go," Huo La said, dropping the line, and without waiting for Wang Luo's response, he sidestepped past him, hurriedly sprinting toward the Galaxy Team Building.
Wang Luo stood where he was, offering no resistance, merely watching Huo La's swift retreat, a knowing smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
He lifted his hand to his chin, murmuring softly, his voice so faint only he could hear: "Interesting… the scent of a Time and Space rift, a person not belonging to this era yet pretending to be 'amnesiac'… Arceus…"
