Chapter 243: Deoxys
"System, don't tell me you need me to press my hand directly onto it for you to absorb energy, right?" Huo La tugged at his cloak, heated to a scorching temperature by the heat wave, his voice full of dread.
The meteor's temperature was frighteningly high; if he actually pressed his hand onto it, his hand would probably be ruined outright.
"Beep— detection shows strong Life Energy fluctuations from the target; the Host's distance to the meteor has shortened to within ten meters, the system can autonomously absorb… no direct contact required."
"Ten meters…" Huo La immediately squinted, using the thick smoke as cover, quickly gauging the distance between himself and the meteor at the center of the blaze.
It seemed to be about twelve or thirteen meters away, just a little short.
He clenched his teeth, steeled his heart, hunched his back and lunged forward a few more steps.
The scorching air choked his throat with pain, his exposed skin blistered with heat, and even his breath carried a burnt, acrid scent.
He stared intently at the dark‑red meteor, feeling his hair nearly singed, then halted, trembling as he raised his hand.
The moment he lifted his hand, the system's alert tone sounded again, a faint electric hiss: "Absorbing… Cosmic Life Energy… encountering unknown Pokemon Life Energy resistance… system enforcing suppression… energy recovery progress: 2%… 5%… 8%…"
Huo La held his hand aloft, not daring to move; sweat streamed down his forehead, droplets hitting the scorching ground and instantly vaporizing into White Fog.
His mind raced— a meteor that fell from the Universe and contained such dense Life Energy could not be ordinary.
In the Pokemon World he knew, beings linked to "Cosmic Life" were few enough to count on one hand.
"A Little Meteor? Or Deoxys?" his heart lurched, a bolder thought flashing: "Could it be… Rayquaza?"
The thought surfaced, only to be snuffed out by himself.
While Huo La's mind raced, a chaotic clatter of footsteps and shouts suddenly came from below Shan Gang, drawing nearer.
"Bad! Reinforcements incoming!" Huo La's heart leapt to his throat.
Were they from the Security Corps? Or the Diamond Team, the Pearl Team's field leaders? Whoever they were, being caught skulking by the meteor would be impossible to explain!
His forehead veins pulsed with anxiety as he lowered his voice and shouted at the system, "System! How much longer? They're almost on top of us!"
"Beep— energy resistance exceeds estimates… suppression efficiency dropping… current energy recovery progress: 15%…"
The system's alert continued to beep urgently, and the meteor before Huo La began to shake violently, its dark‑red sheen flickering, the tremor quickening, even the surrounding ground trembling faintly.
More oddly, the air that had been searing with heat suddenly turned chilling; the scorching temperature vanished in an instant, replaced by a bone‑cold chill as if the meteor had sucked all surrounding heat away.
"Detection of internal lifeform movement within the meteor; energy resistance surpasses critical threshold… system suppression failed… Warning! Warning! Host, withdraw immediately, withdraw immediately!"
"Damn it!" Huo La cursed, turning to flee outward.
Before he could step, the half‑human‑height meteor cracked with a "crack" sound, a massive fissure splitting its middle; dazzling teal light surged from the gap, and immediately a teal face etched with fine patterns emerged, its nose tip nearly touching Huo La's forehead!
Huo La froze, his footing gave way, and with a "thud" he plopped onto the ground, his rear striking the charred stone, pain making him grit his teeth, yet he dared not move.
The teal face bore a deep violet stripe running from forehead to chin; its body remained embedded in meteor fragments, surrounded by a faint aura of energy!
"De—Deoxys!" he screamed, his voice trembling.
This was the legendary Universe‑origin Pokemon, capable of multiple forms and unfathomable power—how could it appear in the Hisui Region this way?!
At the moment he fell, a rapid hoofbeat echoed from afar.
From the corner of his eye, Huo La saw a massive Mysterious Horn Deer carrying a woman in a dark‑blue uniform, charging here at breakneck speed; her long hair streamed in the wind, her gaze sharp as a blade.
At the forest edge on the other side, a brown‑furred Ivory Boar with two long tusks charged likewise, a man in a pointed hat and white‑purple uniform perched on its back, his gaze fixed on the meteor, expression solemn.
"Ju Yi! What's happening here?" the woman in the dark‑blue uniform halted the Mysterious Horn Deer at the fire's perimeter, shouting loudly at the man, her tone urgent.
She was Ami, the Diamond Team's field leader for the Obsidian Fieldlands.
The man called Ju Yi, the Pearl Team's field leader for the Obsidian Fieldlands, gently patted the Ivory Boar's head beneath him, shook his head: "I just arrived too; looks like a meteor fell. But …"
He raised his hand toward Huo La in front of the meteor, "There's someone there."
Ami followed his gaze, instantly spotting the pale‑faced Huo La seated on the ground, then noticing the cracked meteor and the teal figure emerging from it; her pupils narrowed sharply: "Seems it's not just him… Bad! Something's trying to emerge from the meteor!"
Before the words finished, Ami spurred the Mysterious Horn Deer, charging recklessly toward the blaze's center: "Hey! Are you okay? Get out of there quickly!"
"Ami, danger!" Ju Yi shouted, then immediately ordered, "Ivory Boar, use Blizzard! Cool the surroundings, suppress the flames!"
The Ivory Boar let out a low growl, snapped its jaws open, and exhaled a blast of frigid icy air.
The icy air spread swiftly, turning into a swirling snowstorm that fell onto the burning vegetation, producing a "sizzle‑sizzle" sound; the raging flames were markedly suppressed, and the ambient temperature dropped sharply again.
Deoxys hovered silently in midair, its "eyes" fixed directly on the collapsed Huo La.
The Cosmic Energy encircling its body rippled faintly, as if assessing the tiny human before it.
The next second, its gaze shifted to the rapidly approaching Ami and Mysterious Horn Deer, then swept over Ju Yi and the Ivory Boar stirring the snowstorm on the other side. Two silhouettes, each bearing Pokemon aura, converged here, subtly forming a suppressive formation.
Deoxys's form paused briefly, and slender, vine‑like tentacles unfurled from its sides.
Before Huo La could react, the cold yet supple tentacles coiled around his waist and abdomen, their force modest but binding inexorably.
Huo La felt a strange force envelop him, his body instantly becoming weightless.
He barely had time to gasp before the scene before him warped violently— the burning blaze, the charging pair of riders and their mounts, the cracked meteor—all blurred into light and shadow racing backward.
"Swish—"
Accompanied by a faint spatial ripple, Deoxys's figure, together with the tentacle‑bound Huo La, vanished from the spot.
After a few breaths, Ami, riding the Mysterious Horn Deer, surged to the meteor's side, stepping over the smoking charred ground, kicking up sparks.
She looked around, her expression darkening instantly: "Where's the person? The meteor split, that thing and the kid just now are gone!"
Ju Yi also arrived on the Ivory Boar, raised his hand to disperse the snow, his gaze scanning the empty blaze center, brow furrowed: "It's Instant Teleportation."
"Psychic…" Ami muttered softly, stepping to the cracked meteor's edge, touching a fragment; a faint chill brushed her fingertip.
Ju Yi nodded, his tone grave: "A Psychic user, and their Power of Space is extremely strong, even the Ivory Boar's Blizzard didn't disrupt it."
The two exchanged a glance, each seeing surprise and doubt in the other's eyes.
The Hisui Region had never seen such a mysterious Universe‑origin Pokemon, let alone one that abducted a human.
"That kid who was taken…"
"Regardless of who he is, the priority now is to report this," Ju Yi said gravely, "Send word immediately to the Pearl Team and Diamond Team leaders, and to Ma Jia Mu of the Galaxy Team. Meteor fall, unknown Pokemon entity, missing human… none of this may be omitted."
He paused, adding, "As for the abducted person, let the Galaxy Team investigate. Our immediate task is to seal off this area, checking whether residual meteor energy might affect nearby Pokemon."
Ami sighed, gazing at the meteor fragments, shaking her head helplessly: "That's all we can do. Hope the kid gets good fortune… being taken by such a mysterious Pokemon, his fate is uncertain."
