Chapter 245: Survival of the Fittest, Deoxys
"You know I'm Cosmic Bacteria… but it seems you don't know my birth."
Deoxys's conscious voice reverberated in Huo La's mind, without emotional fluctuation, yet carrying an undeniable certainty.
"Hmm?" Huo La startled sharply, his pupils narrowing slightly. He swiftly searched his mind for all memories of Deoxys.
In the records of his past life, it only noted that it was a Pokemon from the Universe, possessing multiple forms and formidable strength, but never mentioned its origin of birth.
This information completely exceeded his comprehension.
"I am the product formed at the moment of Arceus's creation, when droplets of sweat merged with Cosmic Primordial Energy."
Deoxys spoke slowly, its blue‑green face glowing faintly in the moonlight, "Strictly speaking, I am not the same in essence as the Pokemon naturally born in this world. I belong to this world, yet I also drift beyond it."
Huo La furrowed his brows, his mind full of doubt. Why did Deoxys suddenly tell him all this?
Was it merely an informational notice, or did it have another purpose? He could not fathom the thoughts of this Legendary Pokemon.
"You are curious now, wondering why I chose to tell you this," Deoxys's consciousness sounded again, precisely striking Huo La's thoughts.
A chill rose in Huo La's heart: "Are you… reading my mind?"
"Within the range of my Psychic perception, you have no secrets," Deoxys's angular eye narrowed slightly, "And also, do not attempt to capture me."
Huo La's complexion instantly darkened. When he saw Deoxys in a weakened state earlier, a subconscious thought flashed through his mind—if a Master Ball could be used, could he try to capture it?
He suppressed that thought deeply, deliberately masking any emotional ripple, yet Deoxys still detected it.
The Super Ability-type Legendary Pokemon's mind‑sensing is indeed terrifying.
"What does it mean that you tell me all this?" Huo La forced down his inner panic and asked in a low voice.
He could feel Deoxys's attitude seemed to be slowly changing, and the surrounding Cosmic Energy grew increasingly cold.
"You… are not a person of this world," Deoxys's voice paused, as if confirming something, "It was Arceus who brought you to this world… it did so......"
"W‑what?!" Huo La felt as if struck by lightning, leapt back a step, the rocky debris beneath his feet emitting a light "crack," "Are you saying my appearance was Arceus's choice?"
"Choice… should be," Deoxys's figure drifted slightly closer, its eerie blue‑green face also bearing a hint of confusion, "You didn't know this?"
"I can only say I had guessed," Huo La let out a heavy sigh.
After death, arriving in this world with a system present, the only thing one can accomplish here is a llama.
Deoxys's angular eye stared fixedly at Huo La, moonlight flowing over its body, outlining a cold silhouette.
The surrounding air seemed to solidify, a dangerous aura silently spreading.
A moment later, its conscious voice sounded again, but this time its tone added an unmasked chill that made Huo La's hair stand on end: "It's fine."
"When I devour you and absorb the energy within your body, I will naturally go ask it on your behalf."
Before the words finished, Deoxys's vine‑like tentacles suddenly surged, bearing a biting cold, and coiled toward Huo La's neck!
The tentacles sliced through the air, emitting a faint whoosh, the speed so fast Huo La couldn't react at all!
In just a moment, Huo La was tightly wrapped by Deoxys's tentacles around his waist and abdomen, his whole body dragged into mid‑air.
The icy sensation spread along his skin, constricting him so he could barely breathe, his limbs struggling futilely, yet he could not break free of the supple yet powerful bind.
"You… aren't you afraid of Arceus dealing with you?!" Huo La's voice was hoarse with suffocation, he stared fixedly at the blue‑green figure before him, trying to intimidate it with the name of the Creator God.
Deoxys's angular eye remained unruffled, the voice in its consciousness cold as ice: "If you let whatever inside you devour my energy, I can naturally devour yours. In your human terms, that's called 'survival of the fittest.'"
As soon as the words fell, a sharp system alarm sounded at Huo La's ear: "Warning! Warning! External force detected forcibly extracting System Core Energy! Energy loss rate accelerating! Host, respond immediately!"
"Respond? Hell no!" Huo La shouted while struggling in midair, his face flushed bright red, "Damned broken system, if I had a way to respond, would I still be hanging here?!"
He could clearly feel that not only System Energy was rapidly draining inside him, but his life force was also continuously ebbing.
The values on the panel kept flickering lower: "System Energy remaining 14%… 12%… 9%…"
Just as Huo La despaired, a figure suddenly leapt high from the ground, its tiny body wrapped in raging flames, opening its mouth to bite fiercely at one of Deoxys's tentacles— it was Cyndaquil!
Flame Fang's scorching heat burned the tentacle's surface, but before the flames could spread, the Cosmic Energy surrounding Deoxys instantly extinguished them.
Cyndaquil, however, did not relent; its sharp teeth stayed lodged in the tentacle, its little paws clinging tightly, refusing to let go despite the tentacle's thrashing.
"Eevee!" another urgent shout rang out, Huo La struggled to look down—only to see Eevee arched its body, its tiny head repeatedly smashing into Deoxys's leg.
Each impact, it was flipped onto the ground by the tentacle's recoil, rolling far away, yet it always managed to scramble up instantly, shaking its disheveled fur, and charge forward again.
Its fluffy cream‑colored fur was now coated with dust and gravel, and in its once‑gentle eyes burned an unyielding stubbornness.
"Cyndaquil… Eevee…" Huo La watched the two little ones burst out of their Pokeballs, reckless, his throat tightening, his struggling strength waning, his voice carrying an unmistakable weakness and helplessness.
He had only spent a few days with them, yet these two Pokemon were willing to fight this nearly invincible Legendary Pokemon for him.
"Obstructive little creature," Deoxys's consciousness finally showed a hint of impatience.
It was even too lazy to act; with a mere thought, an invisible Psychic force instantly swept across the entire temple ruins.
Cyndaquil, hanging on the tentacle, seemed struck by an invisible giant hand, its tiny body flung violently, crashing heavily into a stone pillar, letting out a faint whimper, then softly sliding down, lying motionless on the ground.
Eevee, still striking fiercely, was also hurled by that Psychic force, slammed into another stone pillar, landing without even a grunt, completely motionless.
"No—!" Huo La roared, his eyes tearing, his voice a guttural scream.
"Deoxys! Fuck your mother! If you have the ability, charge at me!"
Watching the uncertain fate of Cyndaquil and Eevee on the ground, Huo La's heart felt as if squeezed by an invisible giant hand, the pain nearly taking his breath away.
The system alarm at his ear grew ever fainter, the numbers still dropping: "System Energy remaining 5%… 4%… entering Forced Sleep State soon…"
