Chapter 26: V2 (2)
Kojiro seized the opening and ordered the GasBomb, "GasBomb, rise! Envelop the entire hall with Poison Gas! Make them unable to breathe!"
The GasBomb immediately burst through its own Smokescreen, its body swelling like a balloon, spewing a massive black smoke— the smoke spread through the air and quickly covered most of the Pokemon Center, the acrid Poison Gas made Trainers and Nurse Joy clutch their mouths and noses, coughs rising and falling.
"Everyone stay calm! Cover your mouths and noses with a wet cloth!" Nurse Joy soothed the crowd while searching for a spare air purifier.
"Bulbasaur, use Razor Leaf into the sky!" Huo La's voice cut through the chaos, reaching Bulbasaur's ears clearly.
Bulbasaur instantly adjusted its stance, the seed on its back flashing green, countless sharp leaves shot upward like darts—Razor Leaf struck the still‑smoking GasBomb precisely, "Gas!" the GasBomb let out a painful howl, its body shuddered, its floating slowed noticeably, and the Poison Gas jet lost momentum.
Musashi, seeing the GasBomb wounded, immediately changed tactics: "Uncle Snake, charge into the Smokescreen! Bind Bulbasaur with Binding!"
Uncle Snake moved nimbly, using the Smokescreen as cover, darting like lightning behind Bulbasaur, its body coiling around it—"Bulba!" Bulbasaur cried out in pain, and the Razor Leaf attack halted instantly.
"Beedrill, fly up! Use Multi Slash on the GasBomb!" Huo La decided on the spot, to finish the wounded GasBomb first, then turn back to rescue Bulbasaur.
Beedrill flapped its wings and rose, its double needles glinting coldly, slashing down on the injured GasBomb—"Bang bang bang" a few times, the GasBomb was hit by Multi Slash, crashing heavily to the ground, scattering the surrounding Smokescreen a bit.
In that brief gap, Huo La saw the situation inside the Smokescreen: Uncle Snake tightly coiled around Bulbasaur, Bulbasaur's body strained, its face full of pain.
"Bulbasaur, use Leech Seed!" Huo La ordered immediately.
Bulbasaur gritted its teeth against the pain, the seed pod on its back spitting out a green seed—the seed landed precisely on Uncle Snake's scales, instantly turning into emerald vines that tightly wrapped Uncle Snake's body.
As the green light flickered, the vines began siphoning Uncle Snake's strength, "Suck~!" Uncle Snake let out a painful hiss, the grip of the vines visibly loosened.
At the same time, Bulbasaur's expression eased considerably—Leech Seed not only attacks the enemy but also feeds the absorbed strength back to the user, relieving the pain from the Binding.
Musashi and Kojiro watched the wounded GasBomb and Uncle Snake tangled in Leech Seed, their faces turning completely grim.
"Damn! That brat actually suppressed us!" Musashi gritted his teeth, unable to think of a better response—Uncle Snake was being drained by Leech Seed, the GasBomb had lost combat ability, pressing on would only lead to a worse defeat.
Just as Uncle Snake wailed in pain from the Leech Seed and the GasBomb lay crippled on the ground, a rapid police siren rose from afar, piercing the chaos in the Pokemon Center.
Then, a crisp yet authoritative female voice boomed through the loudspeaker, echoing through the hall: "Rocket Team inside, listen! You are surrounded by police! I, ChiefOfTokiwashiPoliceDepartment, order you to immediately recall your Pokemon, raise your hands, and surrender!"
It's Officer Jenny!
Kojiro panicked instantly, clutching his hair and looking anxiously at Musashi: "Musashi! Officer Jenny's here! What do we do? If we don't leave now, it'll be too late!"
Musashi stared hard at Huo La, his eyes full of resentment; today they could have taken the Pokemon smoothly, but this brat ruined everything, and now even escaping is a problem.
She clenched her teeth and barked, "Retreat! Little brat, you got lucky today! We'll settle the score another day!"
"Meow Meow, use a Smokescreen!" Musashi shouted toward the corner.
A figure darted out, it was the Meow Meow that had been watching from an unknown spot after the fight began— it somehow produced two round SmokeBombs and slammed them onto the ground!
"Boom boom" twice, thick black smoke erupted instantly, the air already clouded by the GasBomb's Poison Gas now plunged into pitch darkness where you couldn't see your hand, making even breathing difficult.
"Open the doors for air! If we stay any longer we'll suffocate!" someone in the crowd shouted.
Then the Pokemon Center's doors were yanked open, fresh air rushing in as panicked Trainers and citizens surged toward the exit, each covering mouth and nose, coughing while running out, and the hall instantly descended into chaos.
Huo La didn't join the crowd, but took advantage of the chaos, silently pulling out Pokeballs and recalling Bulbasaur and Beedrill into them.
He leaned against the corner wall, watching the bustling crowd outside, a faint smile tugging at his mouth.
"Enter immediately and search! Ensure citizen safety, don't let the Rocket Team escape!" Officer Jenny's voice carried undeniable authority, echoing outside the Pokemon Center.
The officers sprang into action, brandishing batons as they rushed into the hall, beginning a thorough search for any Rocket Team traces.
Huo La followed the last few citizens out of the Pokemon Center, his gaze instinctively scanning the distant alley—three figures darted by quickly, Musashi, Kojiro, and Meow Meow.
He didn't chase immediately; the system had already placed a marker on the three of them.
Soon the Pokemon Center's power was restored—the hall's lights flickered back on, the emergency broadcast ceased, the once‑chaotic scene gradually calmed, leaving only a few officers taking notes and comforting shaken Trainers.
Huo La walked to the service desk, handing the Pokeballs containing Bulbasaur and Beedrill to Nurse Joy, saying gently, "Nurse Joy, could you check them? They might have sustained minor injuries in the fight."
Nurse Joy took the Pokeballs with both hands, her face full of gratitude: "Of course. If you hadn't intervened in time, dragging the Rocket Team until I reached Officer Jenny, at least half the Pokemon in the Center would have fallen to the Rocket Team's poison."
"Just a trivial favor," Huo La smiled, then his tone shifted slightly with curiosity, "But I have a question: why does a place as important as the Pokemon Center lack dedicated security? After all, it houses many injured Pokemon and is an easy target for villainous groups."
As his words ended, an authoritative voice rang from behind: "It's not that no one is on duty; under normal circumstances, no one would have ill intentions toward the Pokemon Center."
