Chapter 387: At the Beginning, There Was No World in This Universe, No Living Beings, and No Pokemon
Then, Deoxys's weak yet resolute voice sounded again in Huo La's Heart Lake, carrying a barely perceptible sense of relief: "Final strike!"
Huo La watched Regidrago, felled by the Ultimate Impact, and then glanced at Deoxys's slightly trembling tentacles; a pain rose in his heart, and he gritted his teeth, roaring: "Destruction Beam!"
As Huo La's voice fell, Deoxys, already gravely wounded from unleashing the Ultimate Impact, exhausted the last of its internal energy, and a dazzling, raging beam of energy gradually coalesced before its chest; that beam contained world‑shattering destructive power, emitted a sharp whistling sound, and surged violently toward the already teetering Regidrago.
"Boom—!" Another deafening, fierce explosion rang out; the Destruction Beam struck Regidrago with pinpoint accuracy, the massive impact hurling it violently backward, slamming it hard against the rock wall of the Snow Peak Temple, the wall instantly cracking as shards of stone rained down.
Immediately after, the lingering force of the Destruction Beam remained undiminished, sending Regidrago straight into the Snow Peak Deep, where it vanished completely.
As for Deoxys, after delivering that strike, its internal energy was utterly spent, the Superpower Aura around it vanished instantly, its body went limp, collapsing on its back in the snow; its breath grew faint to the extreme, and its four tentacles drooped weakly.
Huo La's heart tightened; unable to attend to anything else, he hurried forward at once, carefully cradling Deoxys's icy body.
Deoxys slowly opened its eyes, and in those usually expressionless orbs, Huo La could distinctly see at this moment a trace of ineffable sorrow, a faint sadness that nonetheless pierced the heart.
Xiao Zhao and the others hurried forward as well, the group still not fully recovered from the harrowing battle moments ago, when Regigigas's ancient, weighty voice began to echo from deep within the Temple: "You have passed the trial. Come in, I will tell you everything I know."
Huo La gave a gentle nod, first taking out a Master Ball, and carefully pocketed the barely breathing Deoxys inside it.
Then he looked toward the spot where Regidrago had been blasted into the Snow Peak Deep, raised his hand and tossed a Heavy Ball; a flash of white light, and he captured that final Giant as well.
The party stepped once more into the depths of the Snow Peak Temple.
Regigigas still maintained that timeless, unmoving posture, its massive body standing still like a mountain.
But Huo La clearly sensed that the six colored gems on its chest were flashing at a noticeably faster rate, revealing an unmistakable excitement and solemnity.
"Release my five children," Regigigas said.
Huo La paused in silence, and as instructed, opened the five Heavy Balls together.
Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki and Regidrago's figures successively materialized; they had all awakened from unconsciousness, though their breaths were feeble and their bodies bore the battle's lingering wounds.
Regigigas quietly gazed at its five offspring, its voice low and resonant: "I didn't expect you to be so decisive. Most of my five children's power had yet to be unleashed, yet you have defeated them one by one."
As the words faded, a gentle yet immensely weighty energy radiated from its body, softly enveloping the five Pokemon. The severe injuries from the recent battle healed at a visibly rapid pace, and their waning breaths quickly recovered.
A sudden gleam lit Huo La's eyes, and he hurried forward a step: "Regigigas, you can heal injuries? Then… Deoxys's wounds…?"
"I'm sorry, I cannot." Regigigas calmly declined, "Those five are creations I personally forged, sharing the same origin as me, so my power can naturally repair them. But Deoxys… was not created by me; I am powerless regarding it."
The light in Huo La's eyes dimmed instantly, the hand hanging at his side tightened slightly, and he said nothing further.
Regigigas's ancient, weighty voice sounded again, breaking the silence within the hall: "Deoxys's choice is his own will. Rather than entangle yourselves in his injuries, first discern why he made such a choice."
Huo La lowered his gaze, silent for a moment, suppressing his worry and helplessness, and slowly nodded.
Seeing Huo La had calmed, Regigigas's massive body shifted slightly, the six colored gems' glimmer softened a bit, its gaze slowly swept over Huo La, Xiao Zhao and the others, as if confirming their spirits; after a moment, it spoke slowly, its voice bearing an age‑spanning melancholy.
As its words echoed, the five Legendary Giants—Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki and Regidrago—standing side by side moved in unison; the gems on their bodies lit up simultaneously, five beams of differing colors rose slowly, intertwining and converging before the onlookers, gradually outlining a clear image, like a floating light screen.
Xiao Zhao, Shan Kui and Bin Lian widened their eyes, their faces filled with shock—this sight of gems forming a light screen to display an image was a miracle they had never witnessed.
In contrast, Huo La, though also somewhat surprised, appeared much calmer; after all, in his original world, televisions and projectors that display images were commonplace, so he was not overly stunned.
"You should have all heard the story of Arceus's creation," Regigigas's voice came slowly, echoing the scene on the light screen.
As soon as the words fell, Arceus's figure materialized within the light screen.
It was surrounded by a holy, majestic radiance, its head held high, standing in a vast, desolate Universe; beneath its feet floated countless shards of stars, the surroundings empty and silent, apart from the cold starlight there was no other life, as if the entire Universe held only it, solitary.
"At the very beginning, there was no world in this Universe, no living beings, and no Pokemon, only Arceus, alone, born in this chaos," Regigigas's voice carried a hint of compassion, "At first, it did not feel lonely, merely drifting day after day, year after year through the Universe, watching stars be born and die; over time, that bone‑deep loneliness eventually engulfed it."
As it spoke, the images on the light screen gradually shifted; Arceus's solitary figure grew increasingly forlorn, the surrounding star shards seemed even colder, intensifying the ancient loneliness.
