Chapter 625: Maxed out
Mt. Moon, where legend says a meteor once fell.
If Su Hao remembered correctly, the so-called meteorite was actually a massive Moon Stone, a treasure of the Clefairy clan.
The Clefairy clan are a very interesting species of Pokémon. They first appeared as Normal-type Pokémon, but were reclassified as Fairy-type after the Fairy attribute was discovered.
There is an urban legend that explains the origins of Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable.
【Alien Pokémon that crashed onto this planet in a spaceship shaped like a Moon Stone.】
Other urban legends link Clefable and Gengar together.
Clefable and Gengar look very similar. The average weight of a Clefable is 40kg, while Gastly and Haunter average 0.1kg, yet upon evolving into Gengar, their weight balloons to 40.5kg.
Some say Gengar is Clefable's shadow; others say Gengar swallowed a Clefable.
As for the truth, Su Hao doesn't know either.
Su Hao set off in the morning and arrived at the foot of Mt. Moon by noon.
There are only two ways to cross Mt. Moon with minimal effort.
It is difficult to climb over Mt. Moon by foot alone, so these two methods evolved.
First, pass through the mountain by traversing the crisscrossing caves within it.
Second, ride a Flying-type Pokémon with enough stamina to fly over the peaks directly.
Su Hao opened his navigator to check the map.
Heading south leads to Cerulean City; heading east leads to the highest peak of Mt. Moon, the Mt. Moon Square, where that giant Moon Stone resides.
Su Hao's destination, Auros City on Rota Street, requires crossing Mt. Moon and heading toward the northern ridges.
Heading in that direction, he would likely see quite a few tunnels excavated for mining ores and fossils.
"Maybe I'll even run into a Hiker, a Backpacker, or a Rock enthusiast," Su Hao joked to himself, then looked down at his feet and teased, "Right, Riolu?"
"Rio?" (?????)
Riolu tilted its puppy head, completely failing to understand the joke Su Hao was making.
Su Hao didn't feel awkward at all; instead, he curled his lips and gestured for Riolu to follow.
"Let's go. Today, we'll fight some wild Pokémon to grind some levels."
There was at least a month left before the festival in Auros City began. Rather than just flying over on his Hisuian Braviary, he wanted to see more of the local customs and culture of this anime world.
Aside from keeping the general direction, Su Hao randomly chose a mountain path overgrown with vegetation and set off.
His physique was barely better than an average person's, but he didn't need a hiking stick to steady himself; the rugged mountain path was like flat ground to him, effortless.
From time to time, Geodude would hide behind the rocks scattered everywhere, waiting for an opportunity to attack him and Riolu.
Whenever that happened, Su Hao would command Riolu to unleash a Wing Chun combo, landing a couple of solid "bang-bang" punches with Bullet Punch, which was harder than the rocks themselves.
After walking for a while and clearing out quite a few small fries, a "boss" that could barely be considered an elite monster blocked the middle of the mountain path.
