After the light of Mega Evolution faded, Mega Gengar made its appearance.

Bai Jing nodded. "I don't mind telling you — my other Pokémon is Charmeleon. If you can beat Aegislash, you really do have a pretty good chance of winning this match!"

Li Gui was overjoyed. "That's great!"

"But the question is — can you?"

"We'll see!"

The referee waved his flag. "Match, continue!"

"Sword Flight!"

After the Gravity ring was removed, Aegislash's speed skyrocketed; in the blink of an eye it was above Gengar, and its shadow on the ground moved at the same time.

Though shocked by its speed, Li Gui still gave no command, watching helplessly as the double attack bore down on Mega Gengar.

But to everyone's surprise, a crater was carved into the ground — and Mega Gengar was gone!

Bai Jing's face changed. "Get airborne, now!"

"Too late!"

Mega Gengar emerged from Aegislash's shadow, eye to eye, and a red light shot forth!

It's Hypnosis!

Aegislash fell asleep!

So earlier, Mega Gengar had burrowed underground to dodge the attack, then quickly slipped into Aegislash's shadow to hide.

This is its specialty — Gengar is a Shadow Pokémon.

Li Gui laughed triumphantly. "I've had it up to here with your Aegislash! I'm going to avenge everyone it's beaten!"

"Mega Gengar, use Nightmare!"

The sleeping Aegislash immediately showed a look of agony… well, it doesn't actually have a face, so.

"Now use Dream Eater!"

Hypnosis + Nightmare + Dream Eater — the classic combo Ghost-type trainers love most. Against a squishy Pokémon, it's an instant one-shot wipeout!

Dream Eater snapped Aegislash awake; with one sword strike it forced Mega Gengar back, then returned to the air.

And Mega Gengar, the sly thing, slipped back into Aegislash's shadow and refused to come out!

Li Gui gloated, "I'm not coming out — what are you gonna do about it?"
