Chapter 116: The Dragonite Coming to Settle Scores

~10 min read 1,969 words

And Mi Li Long's partner is named Chi Hou Ba, a creature of massive size that looks just like a giant European catfish.

Chi Hou Ba isn't very bright; it respects Mi Li Long as its leader and follows the commands of the petite Mi Li Long to hunt cooperatively.

Luo Mu remembered that when he played the Zhu Zi game, he often used these two Pokémon for double battles; after Mi Li Long hid inside Chi Hou Ba's mouth, the Terastallized Chi Hou Ba became like a Wall of Lamentations, and the strategy of holding Leftovers nauseated a large number of people in the early stages.

After passing no fewer than ten combinations of Mi Li Long and Chi Hou Ba, the small island in the lake from Luo Mu's memories finally appeared in his field of vision.

He was able to identify the small island in the lake thanks to the very conspicuous pink Dragonair leisurely lying on it; today his luck was quite good, as he happened to encounter the Dragonair leaving the water to land on the small island in the lake to bask in the sun.

Although Dragonair mostly inhabit the lake water, as Dragon-type Pokémon, they still need to bathe in sunlight regularly, otherwise they face the danger of decreased movement agility.

This is also the reason why Dragonite likes to float in the sky for their afternoon naps; in the sky, they can more fully contact sunlight and warm up their bodies.

Seeing the Dragonair on the small island in the lake acting so contentedly, Luo Mu couldn't help but smile, seeming that they had been doing very well during this period, though he didn't know where the other two Dragonair had gone.

Luo Mu patted the Dragonite's back, pointed at the small island in the lake and the Dragonair, and said, "Found it, let's land there!"

The Dragonite's flying speed gradually slowed, its dragon eyes curiously looking down at the small island in the lake, its throat emitting a soft sound.

"Bo-wu?"

Is this the small island where it stayed when it was still a Pokémon Egg? Then, is that pink Dragonair one of the three godmothers that took care of it?

And the Dragonair seemed to sense something as well; its closed, black-bright eyes suddenly opened, lifting its head to meet the Dragonite's curious gaze squarely.

The Dragonair first froze, but upon seeing Luo Mu on the Dragonite's back, its memories returned, and a look of surprise flashed in its black-bright dragon eyes.

The wing-like fins on both sides of the Dragonair's head rapidly expanded; after expanding, the fins were approximately two meters in length, already worthy of being called pure white wings.

Powered by these wings, the Dragonair swiftly ascended, reaching Luo Mu and the Dragonite, who were gradually descending in flight altitude, within a few breaths.

"Lu?"

The Dragonair looked the Dragonite up and down, its face full of surprise; it even dared not connect the Dragonite with the Pokémon Egg.

After all, in the Dragonair's impression, the Pokémon Egg had only been entrusted to Luo Mu by them not long ago; how could it have completed hatching so quickly, and even surpassed them to evolve into a cute Dragonite Princess?

In its understanding, the Pokémon Egg should have just hatched into a small and cute Dratini by now, at most having molted three or four times, and would even find fighting somewhat difficult.

But the Dragonite carrying Luo Mu—judging solely by its aura, the Dragonair felt that its strength would not be weaker than the missing Dragonite leader, and might even be slightly stronger.

Unaware of the Dragonair's inner thoughts, Luo Mu smiled and waved, greeting it: "Long time no see, Dragonair; according to our agreement, I've brought the Dragonite to visit you."

Only when Luo Mu spoke to greet the Dragonair did it confirm that the Dragonite was indeed that Pokémon Egg; because the change was simply too great, even though it could sense a familiar aura from the Dragonite, it hadn't dared to confirm it.

"Lu~"

"Bo-wu."

The Dragonair cautiously approached the Dragonite, its eyes overflowing with tenderness and relief; the Dragonite also seemed to sense this, allowing the Dragonair to come close and making contact with the small horn on its head, as if conveying emotions.

Luo Mu sat on the Dragonite's back without making a sound; this was a hard-won reunion, so who could bear to interrupt such a heartwarming scene?

A moment later, the Dragonair actively ended its affectionate moment with the Dragonite; by now, it had understood from the Dragonite's reactions that it was living a very fulfilling and happy life.

It even made the Dragonair unable to speak the words to persuade the Dragonite to stay.

The Dragonite also felt the overflowing love from the Dragonair; that was maternal love, and even though their bloodlines were not connected, this love would not change.

At this point, Luo Mu finally spoke up to ask, "Where did the other Dragonair go?"

"Lu-wu~"

Hearing this, the Dragonair turned its flight direction and flew down toward the small island in the lake; halfway, it stopped and looked at Luo Mu and the Dragonite, signaling them to follow, and only after confirming that the Dragonite was also flying downward did the Dragonair continue its descent.

After stepping firmly onto the land, Luo Mu flipped off the Dragonite's back and looked around; he found that the environment of the small island in the lake had basically not changed, still featuring a few scattered berry trees and vegetation that wasn't very dense.

As for the Dragonite, it curiously gazed at the surrounding environment; to it, everything around was novel, yet this novelty carried a faint trace of familiarity, causing it to immerse itself in this feeling for a long time, unable to extricate itself.

"Lu-wu."

The Dragonair spoke again, pointing the tip of its tail toward the water inside the lake.

"You mean they are still at the bottom of the lake, and you will go call them up?"

The Dragonair nodded; Luo Mu correctly understood its meaning. Just as the Dragonair intended to dive into the water, the Dragonite suddenly spoke out, stopping the Dragonair's action of entering the water.

Then, the Dragonite looked at Luo Mu, wanting to obtain Luo Mu's permission.

"Bo-wu~"

Luo Mu understood clearly that the Dragonite was expressing its desire to follow the Dragonair into the water together; although the Dragonite looked like it no longer lived in the water as it did during its Dragonair stage after evolving, its swimming ability had actually not degenerated.

Whether climbing waterfalls or diving, most Dragonite can easily accomplish both.

Without too much obstruction, Luo Mu nodded, agreeing to the Dragonite's request.

Accompanied by two sounds of entering water, the Dragonite's orange-yellow figure and the Dragonair's pink figure jumped into the water, quickly disappearing from Luo Mu's field of vision.

Luo Mu withdrew his gaze, surveyed the surrounding environment, and murmured, "It should still be a while before they return; there will probably be rain or a thunderstorm tomorrow, so we will definitely sleep here tonight; better set up a tent first."

The Dragonair's small island in the lake was truly not large; a few Pecha Berry trees of a certain age occupied a lot of space, so Luo Mu didn't call out his other Pokémon.

First, the activity space was too small to move around freely; second, he often camped outdoors during his travels, so his skill in setting up tents was extremely proficient, and he could pitch a tent alone.

About twenty minutes after Luo Mu finished pitching the tent, the calm lake surface began to ripple, as if something underwater was about to float up.

Four black shadows rapidly ascended from underwater, breaking the water's surface in the blink of an eye, and slowly floated in mid-air.

Prepared in advance, Luo Mu opened his portable umbrella, elegantly blocking the splashes brought by the four Dragon-type Pokémon emerging from the water, and then looked up into mid-air.

Apart from the Dragonite and the pink Dragonair, two other Dragonair, slightly smaller in size than the pink Dragonair, appeared in his field of vision.

These were the Dragonair of normal coloration.

A Dragonair's appearance resembles a long snake; its body is slender, covered entirely in scales shining with sapphire luster, while its belly is bright white.

The small white horn on its forehead and the petite wing-like fins on both sides of its head further enhance their attractiveness, while the blue crystal beads on its neck and tail, resembling dragon pearls, harbor the power to control the weather.

The Dragonite had obviously communicated with the Dragonair underwater, as every move and action exuded a sense of closeness.

This stirred another idea in Luo Mu's heart.

He was confident that the Dragonite would not stay in this Big Pot Lake for the sake of the Dragonair, even though their relationship was so close.

But, although he had failed to lure the Dragonair the first time, now that he held the trump card of the Dragonite, and the Dragonite leader had yet to appear... perhaps he had a chance to lure the Dragonair to the Thunder Lake on his farm?

As long as he lured them back, with these Dragonair possessing even greater weather-control abilities, the farm's weather system would be thoroughly perfected, able to provide the most suitable weather for the crops...

Before Luo Mu could even greet the other two Dragonair, a furious roar suddenly erupted from not far off the small island in the lake; the sound's penetrating power was so extreme it sent ripples across the lake's surface, causing weaker Water-type Pokémon to hide beneath the waves and Flying-type Pokémon to flee the waters.

Alongside Dragonite and the Dragonair, Luo Mu narrowed his eyes, gazing toward the lake surface not far away.

There, six Gyarados held their dragon heads high, roaring in this direction.

Luo Mu furrowed his brows and murmured, "Are they here to cause trouble again?"

However, matters did not seem as simple as Luo Mu imagined.

Instead, those six Gyarados were actually on guard against their own companions; after spacing themselves apart, each began using moves on the water's surface, diving deep before leaping out in a single burst to hover slowly in the sky, while others twisted their long bodies directly upon the lake.

"Are they courting?"

Luo Mu was dumbfounded; he had thought the Gyarados hadn't yet been sufficiently cowed by Luxray and the others, returning after several months to once again contest territory with the Dragonair.

As it turned out, the damn things had started courting!?

The Dragonair seemed utterly accustomed to this situation; they calmly landed, coiled themselves beside Luo Mu, and basked in the sun, completely ignoring those Gyarados.

These Gyarados had somehow, on some unknown day, gone mad and taken a fancy to them, then began performing their daily Dragon Dance courtship ritual.

But the Dragonair remembered how those Gyarados had nearly inflicted irreparable harm upon the Pokémon Egg; not blasting them with a Dragon Rage was already generous enough.

Courting?

Not a chance in hell!

Dragonite narrowed his eyes, sizing up those Gyarados performing their bizarre Dragon Dances; were these the ones that had bullied the Dragonair before?

No way; this score had to be settled today!

Dragonite quickly looked at Luo Mu and cried out, "Boo-wu!"

As the one who had raised Dragonite from infancy, Luo Mu knew perfectly well whether Dragonite was opening his mouth to yawn or to beg for food; waving his hand helplessly, he agreed, "Go quickly and return quickly; I need to prepare dinner, so don't be late for the meal."

What appears to be two chapters is actually the content of three.
