Chapter 15: The Power of Terastallization
“Terastallize, Quagsire!”
As he spoke, Luo Mu gripped the Terastal Pearl in his hand; the once pitch-black pearl suddenly glowed with blue light—the mysterious energy known as “Terastal Energy.”
Luo Mu hurled the radiant pearl upward toward Quagsire’s head, forming a perfect parabola.
Quagsire stared fixedly at the Terastal Pearl above it, and as if in response, the pearl instantly burst forth with a dazzling, gemlike brilliance.
The light rained down from midair, forming a crystalline aura suffused with a mesmerizing halo that enveloped Quagsire’s entire body. The next moment, a crisp shattering sound, like glass breaking, echoed as the crystal shattered.
Amid the scattering shards and sparkling fragments, Quagsire’s transformed body appeared before Luo Mu, Pape, and Aojiaofu .
At this moment, Quagsire’s body surface seemed coated in gems, radiating dazzling light.
On its head, a crown-like Terastal gem had appeared, and atop the gem rested an object resembling a cross-section of the Earth.
This object was composed purely of Terastal Energy, brimming with diverse elements.
Oceans, plains, mountain peaks, inner core, outer core, mantle, crust...
It looked wildly bizarre and surreal.
Luo Mu murmured: “Terastal... Ground.”
Pape was even more excited than Luo Mu, the one who had triggered Terastallization; he hugged Aojiaofu tightly, his face flushed with delight, his feet tapping rapidly against the ground.
“It’s Terastallization! So cool, so awesome, so epic!!”
Pape gazed dreamily—when would he ever get Aojiaofu to Terastallize?
Luo Mu frowned in confusion—was Pape really that worked up?
Compared to Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax, Terastallization’s aesthetic was decidedly out of place.
Yet as one of the four major systems, Terastallization’s potential was undeniable.
Luo Mu curled his finger; Quagsire, sensing the strange new energy within, trudged slowly to his side and crouched down.
Luo Mu poked the Terastal Crown on its head, his expression odd: “It’s solid... I wonder how hard it is...”
Due to Luo Mu’s action, Quagsire noticed the strange object atop its head and frowned in distaste.
It had wondered why walking felt so top-heavy—turns out it was lugging around this burden. Though not particularly heavy, it disrupted balance and precision of movement; in high-level battles, even such minor imbalances could decide victory or defeat.
Luo Mu saw Quagsire’s distaste for the Terastal Crown and smiled: “Get used to it—it’s a great boost to your power...”
“Mud...”
Quagsire raised its arms to touch the Terastal Crown and grumbled in resignation.
Watching Quagsire’s motion, Luo Mu suddenly recalled several special uses for the Terastal Crown—but he shook his head, banishing the thoughts.
He’d already retired—why was he still thinking about battle tactics?
After clearing away these inappropriate thoughts, Luo Mu said to Pape: “Come with me—I’ll show you something big!”
“Yeah!”
Pape nodded vigorously and followed Luo Mu and Quagsire, who was adjusting to its new Terastallized form, with Aojiaofu in tow.
Moments later, they arrived at a farmland overgrown with weeds and littered with broken stones.
Pape blinked, staring at the scene in disbelief.
Though young, he often read books due to his parents’ influence.
Thus, he immediately recognized that Luo Mu’s so-called “farmland” was land too barren to even grow potatoes!
Turning wasteland into arable soil required massive manpower and resources—perhaps Pokémon power could accelerate the process... accelerate?
Pape suddenly turned to look at Terastallized Quagsire, realizing something.
Luo Mu and Quagsire exchanged a silent glance; without a word, Quagsire took stance and began channeling Ground-type energy.
As it channeled, Quagsire was startled.
It felt its vast Ground-type energy infused with the same shimmering radiance as its Terastallization; as the move unleashed, both Quagsire and Luo Mu fell into stunned silence.
Quagsire slammed its foot hard into the ground, like a subterranean dragon turning over; layers of glittering, earth-toned waves surged outward in a tidal wave.
Ground-type move: “Heavy Slam!”
The wave swept over everything—any stone or weed was overturned, pulverized into dust; weeds were ripped from their roots, and even the solid ground became loose, upturned soil.
Before planning the area, Luo Mu had ordered Kingdra to use its high-level Pokémon pressure to drive the Pokémon living beneath this wasteland into nearby forests.
Thus, this massive effort caused no unexpected casualties.
Quagsire widened its eyes, dumbfounded, touching the Terastal Crown on its head, then looking at its own feet.
It had thought it hadn’t used much energy for Heavy Slam, expecting only to lift a small patch of soil. But under the mysterious Terastal Energy’s boost, Heavy Slam—aside from lacking the violent tremors of Earthquake—was nearly as powerful as Earthquake!
If Heavy Slam was this strong, what would Earthquake be like?
At this moment, Quagsire deeply understood why Luo Mu had said those words—this strange Terastallization simply and directly amplified its power.
If it had had this back then... perhaps it could have achieved a better result against that Ice Rock Pokémon?
Quagsire fell into thought.
Pape hugged Aojiaofu , his pale face flushed with either awe or excitement; he murmured: “So strong... is this the power of a Champion-level Trainer’s Pokémon?”
Luo Mu snapped out of his shock; though he’d known Terastallization would boost power, witnessing it firsthand still startled him.
No wonder it’s ranked alongside Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax!
Luo Mu estimated that once Quagsire mastered Terastallization, it could dominate its battle against Electivire through type advantage.
Next, Luo Mu had Quagsire completely overhaul the farmland and pasture zones—all the once “bodies-strewn” rocks turned to dust, all weeds uprooted and awaiting removal.
When finished, Quagsire ended its Terastallization, savoring the lingering sensation of immense power, its gaze burning toward the Terastal Pearl in Luo Mu’s hand.
Sensing Quagsire’s stare, Luo Mu looked at his now dull, black Terastal Pearl and muttered: “A system that needs recharging after one use? That’s a broken civilization!”
