Chapter 199: A Feng Su Gou with Wind-Like Speed, Catching the Poisoner

~7 min read 1,321 words

Patter.

Luo Mu gently closed the ward door and walked out into the corridor.

He let out a soft sigh; it seemed there truly were no other clues to be found.

Glancing at the sky outside, although he still wished to visit the other two families who had been poisoned, time did not permit Luo Mu to continue, and the ordered chicks had likely already been delivered to the farm.

He could only temporarily give up, waiting for nightfall to catch the poisoner first.

Upon returning to the farm, Luo Mu happened to encounter a small truck slowly driving toward the farm.

Beep-beep-beep~~

The truck's loud horn blared, and a man sucking on a lollipop stuck his head out, shouting at Luo Mu, "Are you the farm owner, Luo Mu? Your goods have arrived!"

The man's appearance was quite rough; with a lollipop in his mouth, he looked for all the world like a triad big brother smoking a cigarette.

Luo Mu's mouth twitched; to an outsider, it would seem as though they were transacting some sort of "goods."

Luo Mu nodded slightly: "I am."

Because of the lollipop in his mouth, the man spoke somewhat indistinctly: "Mmh, since Li also bought quite a lot of chicken feed, which is pretty heavy, do you want me to drive it directly to the silo in the chicken coop or to the warehouse where the feed is stored?"

"No need." Luo Mu shook his head, declining the man's kindness. "I have Pokémon here that can carry it; just unload it at the entrance."

The man did not insist; being able to do less work naturally pleased him. He chuckled, then swiftly and deftly unloaded the chicken feed and the chicks, which were packed in sealed cages, at the farm entrance.

Since the money had already been paid in advance at the ranch, Luo Mu signed the delivery receipt, and the small truck drove off shakily toward other places.

"Wululu~" "Oli~"

Notified by Luxray, Wen Xiang Jun and Omanyte, having heard the news, hurriedly ran over.

They gathered around the cages, curiously observing the chicks inside with their visibly soft downy feathers, as happy as children who had received their favorite toys.

However, for Omanyte and Wen Xiang Jun, these chicks were not their toys but subjects they would need to care for later, a realization that made them feel incredibly novel.

Luo Mu smiled and instructed, "There are twelve female chicks and two male chicks; since they are still small, be extremely careful not to let them get hurt, as they are very fragile right now."

Omanyte and Wen Xiang Jun nodded vigorously.

Seeing them so serious, Luo Mu squatted down again to teach them quite a bit of basic knowledge about raising chickens, preparing to personally demonstrate the care routine for the chicken coop afterward, including precautions for feeding feed and water.

During this time, Swampert, summoned by Luxray, silently began transporting the heavily piled chicken feed.

Swampert's strength usually allowed it to carry over ten bags of rice at once, so chicken feed was effortless.

Thus, as Luo Mu and his Pokémon busied themselves, the sun gradually set.

Late night.

Not just the farm, but seemingly the entire world had fallen into silence; even the few Pokémon with nocturnal habits tried their best not to make a sound, creating a scene of absolute stillness.

A black figure visited this place once again; its movements were extremely agile, making not a single sound even when stepping through the grass, a feat owed largely to its innate physical talent for flexibility and speed, so that even after evolving to a size nearing half a human's height, its actions remained nimble.

The occasional rustling sounds from the grass sounded more like wind blowing, a concealment technique that Sneasler took great pride in.

Sneasler gazed at the windows of that building within the farm; having observed from distant trees over the past few days, it noticed that the lights here turned on and off with unwavering punctuality, a discovery that left Sneasler deeply puzzled.

Clearly, it had already smeared those berries with plant toxins, so why had the owner here suffered no ill effects whatsoever?

Could it be that the other party had not yet eaten those berries?

Hiding in the grass, Sneasler began to agonize over this.

The Pokémon on this farm were formidable; during the day, it dared not loiter anywhere near here, only daring to peek secretly under the cover of night, and the previous poisoning attempt had merely been a stroke of luck, happening just as that Luxray went to rest.

Such a dangerous place should not have been visited a second time, but Sneasler was still unwilling to let go; at the very least, it had to confirm whether those berries had been eaten, and only then could it proceed to the next location it had selected for poisoning.

Its revenge was far from over.

Everything related to the person who had abandoned it had to be avenged.

Sneasler stayed until deep into the night, until that Luxray, just like on that night, walked indoors while yawning, obviously intending to sleep.

Only then did Sneasler finally make up its mind; since the first attempt had succeeded, the second time, being familiar with the route, would surely work too!

After waiting vigilantly for a long while longer, Sneasler moved out once again.

However, it failed to notice that the breathing of the Pokémon resting inside the farm had become steady to a deliberately artificial degree.

Arriving outside the warehouse without making a single sound along the way, Sneasler discovered a large and a small canine Pokémon sleeping at the entrance; it had never seen the larger one before—could it have evolved?

But now was not the time to dwell on such things; gazing at the tightly closed windows, Sneasler immediately planned to climb over and open one, its movements becoming even more cautious due to the presence of Feng Su Gou and Growlithe.

Just then, suddenly, a sneeze echoed through the night sky.

Sneasler's movements froze, and then it locked eyes for an instant with that Pokémon which looked just like a loaf of baked bread.

In that instant, Sneasler seemed to understand something and, without hesitation, turned and fled.

Feng Su Gou, who had been feigning sleep, leaped up instantly, looking at Growlithe with an expression of frustration over its stupidity, noting the snot hanging from its nose and its utterly embarrassed face.

After calculating everything in a thousand ways, no one had accounted for this fellow catching a slight cold from the night breeze.

But that did not matter, because it had already memorized the scent of that poisoner.

Feng Su Gou looked at the black lemur fleeing under the cover of night; the flame energy within its body began to churn, and the red fur on its surface glowed so brightly it was frightening.

The next instant, Feng Su Gou tensed every muscle in its body, its gaze sharp as torchlight, activating one of the moves it had comprehended after evolving.

"Extreme Speed."

Feng Su Gou shot out like a ball of burning flame, leaving behind a fiery red afterimage, and instantly caught up to the fleeing Sneasler.

Feeling the high-temperature object rapidly approaching, Sneasler merely glanced back, and the entire Pokémon fell into a state of shock.

Feng Su Gou was looking at it with a mocking expression, wearing a face that said, "Go ahead and run a hundred meters; I, your grandpa, can still catch up."

Again like this, again like this, again like this!

Overcome with sorrow, Sneasler condensed its Poison-type energy, intending to fight Feng Su Gou to the death.

However, the speed at which Feng Su Gou's front paw descended was far too fast for Sneasler.

Everything went black before Sneasler's eyes, and just like that, it was slapped unconscious.
