Chapter 96: Capu Moomoo: Not Playable at All
A phantom sword formed from Normal-type energy, and surrounded by red light, Mimikyu’s attack power surged; meanwhile, Capu Moomoo’s wooden mallet descended from the sky, slamming Mimikyu hard into the ground and leaving a massive crater.
Kukui murmured, “Capu Moomoo’s going all out.”
Kukui understood perfectly why Capu Moomoo had chosen to unleash its full power—because Luo Mu and Mimikyu weren’t like those Trainers on the Island Challenge; they already possessed real power capable of threatening Capu Moomoo.
Even if Mimikyu’s strength was inferior to Capu Moomoo’s, the fact that Mimikyu could hurt Capu Moomoo wouldn’t change.
Despite taking that terrifying blow, Mimikyu’s condition barely declined; the mysterious energy swirling around the Pikachu doll vanished, and the doll slumped lifelessly to the ground—the Disguise ability activated.
It not only nullified Capu Moomoo’s thunderous strike but also gained a power boost—Disguise is truly divine! (Shouting loudly)
Capu Moomoo, stunned by the unexpected result, hesitated; Luo Mu seized the opening and shouted, “Now, Play Rough!”
Wrapped in Fairy-type light, Mimikyu, after its Sword Dance, saw its attack power skyrocket and slammed straight into Capu Moomoo, sending it crashing into the rock wall.
Shaking off the rubble, Capu Moomoo squinted and let out a faint, pained grunt; though its immense stamina wasn’t significantly damaged, it still hurt.
Yet, nourished by the endless vitality of the Grass Terrain, Capu Moomoo returned to its peak condition.
Luo Mu clicked his tongue—Capu Moomoo was far more stubborn than the angry Magmar at home; it was an ancient Legendary, with a massive HP bar, impossible to wear down.
If they didn’t KO it quickly, Capu Moomoo would recover rapidly under the Grass Terrain’s support; Luo Mu guessed that, with just him and Mimikyu now, defeating Capu Moomoo was nearly impossible—though with Plusle, there might be a chance.
The trial of strength ended; Luo Mu no longer wished to continue fighting Capu Moomoo. He raised his Z-Ring, already embedded with the Mimikyu Z-Crystal, and shouted, “Mimikyu!”
Called by name, Mimikyu instantly grew excited; behind it, Dragonite had already begun its opening pose.
Suddenly, for no clear reason, Luo Mu had a wild idea—he pulled out the Terastal Pearl he’d charged at the Orange Academy and said with a strange expression, “Since there’s no item limit anymore, this should work, right?”
Without hesitation, he decided to try it—failure meant only begging Capu Moomoo for another chance. Luo Mu had a hunch about Mimikyu’s Terastal type; with Kukui astonished and Capu Moomoo puzzled, he hurled the glowing Terastal Pearl toward Mimikyu!
The crisp sound of crystallization made Kingdra, Snorunt, and Cramorant pause; behind them, the other Pokémon’s green eyes shimmered with awe.
So beautiful the crystallization!
With a sharp crack, Mimikyu, bathed in Terastal light, was covered in crystalline armor, crowned with a massive pink heart bearing white wings.
He’d guessed right—Mimikyu’s type was Terastal Fairy!
Knowing this was the decisive moment, Luo Mu unhesitatingly crossed his arms before him; his Z-Ring erupted in blinding light, and his hands, Mimikyu’s Shadow Claw, and Dragonite, reveling in its dance, struck their full-power poses.
The Z-Ring’s radiance and most of his own HP poured entirely into Mimikyu; its Terastal form did not block the energy’s flow—and, to Luo Mu’s delight, the unique Z-Move symbol appeared before Mimikyu!
Suppressing his embarrassment, Luo Mu swore inwardly he’d someday find a way to skip the Z-Move dance, then declared sternly, “Mimikyu, Intimate Crush!”
Dragonite raised both arms and roared, “Boooh~~!!”
The two real eyes on Mimikyu’s doll blazed with brilliant light; its speed skyrocketed as it lunged straight at Capu Moomoo.
Now, it was the hunter—and Capu Moomoo, the prey!
Capu Moomoo’s keen senses sensed an immense danger approaching—undoubtedly, the feeling came from Mimikyu, which had not only used a Z-Move but now appeared as if carved from crystal.
Capu Moomoo chose to flee at full speed; across the grassy field, it and Mimikyu engaged in a chase.
In their pursuit, Mimikyu, in its current state, proved superior; just as it closed in, Mimikyu leapt high, its doll transforming into a vast “capture net” that descended over Capu Moomoo!
Driven by overwhelming danger, Capu Moomoo hastily lowered its shell, assuming the defensive posture all Capu family members could enter, hoping its hardened shell could withstand Mimikyu’s attack.
After “capturing” Capu Moomoo, a thunderous crash echoed, pink smoke surged around Mimikyu, and glittering particles from the Terastal boost scattered like fireflies.
Luo Mu knew Mimikyu’s attacks were now raining down on Capu Moomoo like hail.
This assault lasted a full minute—and coincidentally, Mimikyu had captured Capu Moomoo near the original crater left by the mallet.
But now, that crater had expanded more than several times over.
The attack sounds faded; Mimikyu, visibly weakened, stepped out of the crater, and as Dragonite blew away the pink smoke, Capu Moomoo’s true form was revealed.
“My god…”
Kukui’s eyes widened, as if witnessing something beyond his worldview.
Inside the crater, Capu Moomoo’s shattered shell lay battered and wounded; though the Grass Terrain and its passive absorption of surrounding plant energy were repairing its shell and injuries at a terrifying pace,
Kukui had to accept this reality.
That Luo Mu and Mimikyu had just landed a devastating blow on the Island Guardian, Capu Moomoo—something utterly unimaginable for a native Alolan like him.
Even after challenging the Elite Four of Kanto, Kukui had never imagined he’d fight—and defeat—an Island Guardian.
After roughly ten breaths, Capu Moomoo’s condition had recovered over half its strength; its shattered shell was fully repaired.
It floated up, shaken—had its strength and durability not surpassed Mimikyu’s, it would have been instantly KO’d.
What kind of outsider is this?
Compared to the stunned Kukui and Capu Moomoo, Luo Mu, Mimikyu, and Dragonite lowered their eyes in frustration—was even this not enough to defeat the Island Guardian, Capu Moomoo?
In their view, Capu Moomoo regained mobility within three breaths, while Mimikyu, burdened by both Terastalization and the Z-Move, could not pursue.
If they continued, they would lose.
Capu Moomoo didn’t know their thoughts; it solemnly dismissed the Grass Terrain and looked at Luo Mu and Mimikyu, saying, “Moomoo!”
Your trial—has passed!
After this weekend, updates will return to the usual schedule: two 4K chapters per week; if I have time, I’ll write more and drop extra chapters unpredictably.
