Chapter 180: Riding a Horse! Riding a Cow?

~8 min read 1,490 words

By the time Huo La opened his eyes again, the sky outside the window was already bright, and the soft morning light spilled into the room through the gaps in the curtains, dispelling the darkness of the night.

"Huo La, you finally woke up! You really scared me to death last night!" Brock's voice came first, carrying obvious concern.

Huo La turned his head to look, only to see Brock with a messy head of curly hair, the tips of his hair still carrying a bit of charred black, looking quite funny.

"Your hair is..." Huo La rubbed his head, which was still a bit heavy, and asked curiously.

"It's all because of him!" Bilan's voice sounded from the side; she walked over with a white porcelain bowl steaming with heat, the corners of her mouth carrying an unstoppable smile. "He couldn't move his feet when he saw Miss Fu Zi yesterday, kept leaning over to strike up a conversation, and as a result, he was treated as a bad guy by her Growlithe, and a mouthful of flames sprayed over, and his hair was directly roasted into instant noodle curls!"

Huo La couldn't help but laugh out loud, and the original exhaustion dissipated a lot.

"Stop laughing!" Bilan handed the bowl to Huo La, her tone carrying a bit of reproach. "Drink the medicine while it's hot. Miss Fu Zi looked at your situation and said that your emotions changed too quickly, and you blew the night wind, causing damp and cold air to enter your body, triggering an acute cold."

She paused and added: "Fortunately, Miss Fu Zi has many Fire-type Pokémon there; last night they took turns using flames to help you dispel the cold air, roasting you for a whole night, and now you should be fine."

"Emotions excited, cold air entering the body..." Huo La took the bowl, the warm touch coming from his fingertips. He looked down at the dark brown medicinal juice in the bowl and nodded gently.

Isn't that right.

The night before last, when they raided Team Flare, from the confrontation to the success, his nerves were tight the whole time, not daring to relax at all; after successfully getting the Mega Stones, he couldn't hide his excitement and didn't rest well all night; yesterday morning, he suddenly heard that the plan to go to the Orange Archipelago had to be shelved, and he had to go to the Safari Zone instead, his mentality sank all of a sudden, and the gap was huge.

With various factors superimposed, and blowing the cold wind in the evening, it would be strange if he didn't get sick.

He picked up the bowl and drank the bitter medicinal juice in one gulp. Although the taste was unpleasant, not long after it went into his stomach, a warmth spread from his throat to his whole body, and he felt much more comfortable.

"How is it? Feeling better?" Brock leaned over and asked, with a worried look.

"Much better, thank you both, and thank Miss Fu Zi for me too." Huo La put down the bowl and smiled at the two. "After resting for a night, plus this medicine, it shouldn't affect going to the Safari Zone to find Mr. Kaiser today."

"Are you setting off for the Safari Zone today?" Just then, Fu Zi pushed the door and walked in.

Seeing this, Brock immediately perked up, subconsciously wanting to step forward, but seeing the Growlithe following Fu Zi out of the corner of his eye, the step he had just taken shrank back abruptly, his face still carrying a bit of a sheepish smile.

Huo La looked at Brock's appearance and couldn't help but laugh secretly in his heart—it seems that Fu Zi's Pokémon had caused Brock quite a psychological shadow.

Last night, he was first sprayed with flames by Rapidash, and later he was chased and roasted by Growlithe when he tried to strike up a conversation. Although both Pokémon showed mercy and didn't strike hard, the scorching heat and the embarrassment clearly made him remember the fear.

"Yes, Miss Fu Zi." Huo La nodded in response, his tone full of gratitude. "If it weren't for my sudden illness, we might have already arrived at Mr. Kaiser's place last night. But thank you so much, not only for saving me, but also for letting your Pokémon take care of me for a whole night."

"You're welcome, helping each other is what should be done." Fu Zi waved her hand and changed the subject. "Since you are going to Mr. Kaiser's side, just help me bring some things over."

After speaking, she shouted behind her: "Growlithe."

The Growlithe following her immediately responded, turned and walked out of the room, and not long after, it walked in with a bulging cloth package in its mouth and placed it gently in front of Huo La and the others.

"Inside are the daily necessities my grandmother prepared for Mr. Kaiser." Fu Zi explained. "That person has a dull personality, stays in his own little house in the Safari Zone every day, rarely comes out to shop, and his daily necessities are always just barely enough."

"Are you and Mr. Kaiser very familiar?" Huo La asked curiously.

"Of course." Fu Zi nodded with a smile. "The sanctuary and the Safari Zone are adjacent to each other, and our Laramie clan has been protectors of the sanctuary for generations, so naturally we are very familiar with him. I often ran to his place to play when I was a child."

She paused, her tone carrying a bit more worry: "I heard two days ago that Mr. Kaiser encountered some trouble over there, fortunately it was solved by a passing Trainer. Originally, these things should have been delivered by me personally, and I would have visited him by the way, but I really can't get away from the sanctuary's affairs here, so I can only trouble you."

"Don't worry, Miss Fu Zi! This matter is left to me!" Brock immediately patted his chest to guarantee, and said he couldn't help but want to lean toward Fu Zi.

But just as he moved a step, the Growlithe beside him immediately pricked up its ears, bared its teeth and whimpered, its eyes vigilantly staring at him.

Brock instantly froze on the spot, smiled awkwardly, and could only obediently retreat, not daring to lean forward by even half a step.

The sunlight spilled through the gaps in the forest, making the grass under their feet shine with golden light.

The three of Huo La moved toward the Safari Zone, with small Bug-type Pokémon darting past from time to time, and the chirping of Pokémon coming from afar, full of natural vitality.

"Look, look!" Bilan suddenly stopped, pointing to the groups of Ponyta and Rapidash on the edge of the sanctuary, her eyes shining, her tone full of longing. "I really want to get a Rapidash to ride! Like Miss Fu Zi, galloping on the wilderness, simply heroic and dashing, too cool!"

Huo La looked in the direction she pointed, only to see a few Rapidash neighing with their heads held high, their fiery red manes shining in the sun, truly majestic.

He also felt a hint of envy in his heart, but still shook his head rationally: "Don't think about it, Rapidash and Ponyta can't be ridden casually. This kind of Pokémon has extremely high requirements for the Trainer's trust. If you can't achieve heart-to-heart connection, even if they forcibly suppress their own flames, the rider is very likely to be scalded by the residual heat, and the risk is not small."

He paused and teased deliberately: "If you really want to find a ride, there are many Tauros in the Safari Zone, with sturdy bodies and not slow speed, riding them is just right."

"Ah, peh!" Bilan spat on the spot, glaring at Huo La unceremoniously. "You're the one riding a cow! Riding a Tauros is so rustic, like a country bumpkin, how can it be as cool as riding a horse? No style at all!"

Huo La couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Can style be eaten as a meal? Tauros is stable and safe, always better than being scalded by flames."

"I don't care! I want a Rapidash!" Bilan said stubbornly, turning her head and ignoring him.

Brock followed behind the two, looking at them bickering, shook his head helplessly, and urged with a smile: "Alright, alright, stop arguing, let's hurry up. I'm already a bit impatient to see Mr. Kaiser's Dragonair."

Mentioning Dragonair, Bilan's attention was instantly diverted, and her eyes lit up again: "Oh right! There's also Dragonair! That's a legendary Pokémon, much rarer than Rapidash! Hurry, hurry!"

Saying that, she quickened her pace first and walked toward the core area of the Safari Zone.

Huo La smiled helplessly, looked at Brock, and hurriedly followed. ===== CHAPTER 181 =====
