Chapter 298: I Like That Look—I'm Starting to Appreciate You

~6 min read 1,067 words

At the foot of the Tian Guan Mountain Foothills, weeds grew thick; Wang Luo had a foxtail grass clenched in his mouth, his hands tucked into his robe hem, swaying as he walked forward, his steps lazy yet exuding an inexplicable intimidation.

Strangely, in every area he passed, the wild Pokemon that had been foraging and playing in the grass seemed to sense something, hushed their breath, fled swiftly into the Mi Lin Shen Chu, actively avoiding his edge, not daring to make even a sound.

Suddenly, a flash of brilliance lit Wang Luo's eyes, the foxtail grass in his mouth twitched, his gaze turned to the distance—three ragged figures stumbling wildly toward him, clothes in tatters, dust covering them, the Three Bandit Sisters.

Behind them, a youth could be seen pressing the chase, his aura fierce.

"Hm?" Wang Luo squinted, scrutinizing the figures, a playful curl at his mouth, "So it's the Three Bandit Sisters; the one relentlessly pursuing them, is that Ming Yao?"

He rubbed his chin, paused briefly, his tone lazy yet puzzled: "What misdeed did they commit to be chased so urgently? Could it be the Galaxy Team has them in their sights?"

Before the words finished, Wang Luo had already decided, leisurely pulling a Pokeball from his pocket, flicking it with his fingertip, he said calmly, "Flower Rock Monster, appear, rescue those three."

The Pokeball arced through the air, and with a "Boom—" it burst into dazzling light, a bizarre, entirely dark‑purple, flower‑shaped Pokemon slowly materialized, its petals gently unfurling, surrounded by a faint eerie aura.

Following Wang Luo's gaze, it spotted Ming Yao and the Magic Wall Puppet furiously pursuing the Three Bandit Sisters nearby; without hesitation, its double petals twisted rapidly, and several jet‑black Shadow Balls coalesced instantly, hurling straight at Ming Yao and the Magic Wall Puppet.

Ming Yao, fully focused on the chase, suddenly sensed the incoming fierce energy, his heart tightened, his voice snapping, "Magic Wall Puppet, quickly, use Light Screen for defense!"

The Magic Wall Puppet reacted instantly, halting its forward charge, its hands flashing across its chest, and a transparent Light Screen materialized out of thin air, crystal clear, firmly blocking ahead.

"Bang bang bang" echoed a few muted thuds, the Shadow Balls repeatedly struck the Light Screen, stirring ripples of energy that eventually dissipated completely.

As the dust cleared, Ming Yao frowned, his sharp gaze turning toward the direction the Shadow Balls had come from, but it was empty—only swaying weeds, nothing else.

He spun around abruptly, only to find the Three Bandit Sisters, who had been just within reach, already vanished, leaving a trail of chaotic footprints behind.

On the other side, in a hidden clearing among the trees, Wang Luo leaned against a trunk, watching the Three Bandit Sisters propped against a wall, hunched and gasping heavily, his brow slightly furrowed, his tone tinged with impatience.

A Song paused for a while, barely calming his rapid breathing, then looked at Wang Luo, eyes wary and puzzled, tentatively asking, "Ginkgo Guild?"

Hearing that, Wang Luo lifted his hand, pointing to the Ginkgo emblem embroidered on his collar, a lazy smile curling his mouth, his tone leisurely, "Isn't that obvious?"

A Song clenched his fists, suppressing his inner panic, pressed the question, his tone full of guard, "Why did you rescue us? We shouldn't have any ties with the Ginkgo Guild."

Wang Luo evaded the question, his gaze sweeping over their tattered, dust‑covered forms, letting out a light snort, "Boring, you three... still as ragged as ever."

A Song's keen mind instantly caught the oddity in his words, his eyes narrowing, asking doubtfully, "What? Do you know us?"

Wang Luo spread his hands, his tone still lazy, with a hint of mystery, "Know them, yet not know them."

A Song, A Mei, and A Zhu exchanged a glance, each eyes filled with doubt and caution.

A Song was the first to look away, his tone cold and distant, "No need to elaborate on ambiguous words; anyway, thanks for rescuing us, we're leaving."

Saying that, he gave a signal to his two younger sisters, turned and stepped away.

But after only two steps, a dark silhouette suddenly blocked their path—Wang Luo's Flower Rock Monster, its petals unfurled, the eerie aura around it exuding intimidation, firmly sealing the way.

A Song froze, abruptly turning to glare at Wang Luo, his voice full of warning and anger, his fist clenching involuntarily, "What do you mean? Rescue us then block us—what exactly do you want?"

Wang Luo still smiled brightly, a hint of amusement in his eyes, leisurely saying, "What, just slink away like that? Don't you want revenge?"

"Revenge..." those two words sparked like a spark, instantly igniting A Song's burning fury.

She suddenly raised her left hand, tightly clasping the right hand that had been bitten by A Er, the snarling wound still throbbing faintly, the piercing pain and humiliation intertwining, flooding her mind.

She looked at Wang Luo, her gaze flaring into blazing anger, voice trembling yet resolute, "Do you have a way for us to get revenge?!"

"Big sister!" A Zhu, seeing this, hurriedly tugged at A Song's sleeve, eyes full of worry and admonition—she feared the elder sister might be blinded by revenge and fall into a trap.

Beside them, A Mei also furrowed her brows, her expression solemn as she looked at Wang Luo, clearly sensing something amiss.

Wang Luo's smile gradually faded, his gaze turning scorching, the previously lax aura around him suddenly becoming fierce, his tone deepening a few degrees, "Of course there's a way; otherwise, why would I go to the trouble of rescuing you?"

He spoke slowly, his voice ominous and fully persuasive, "I can boost your Pokemon's power to a level that even the Gangshi Team, the Pearl Shell Team, and even the Galaxy Team would find hard to match."

He paused, then shifted his tone, "But there's no such thing as a free lunch; I need you to do something for me."

A Song stared into Wang Luo's eyes, without any hesitation, declaring each word with conviction, "Fine!" The fire of revenge in his eyes nearly erupted, his resolve unwavering.

Wang Luo's eyes flashed with a hint of approval, his mouth curling into a smile again, his tone tinged with admiration, "Not bad, not bad, very decisive—this look I like—I've come to appreciate you a bit."
