Chapter 308: I Disagree

~6 min read 1,122 words

After a bout of jolting, Huo La and his party finally reached the edge of Yingyue Battlefield.

Huo La inhaled deeply, leapt out of the basket on Great Niu La's back, thought for a moment, then circled to Ming Yao and reached out to help him down.

Beishang looked at the clamor inside the battlefield, sighed lightly, "It seems the commotion caused by the Mischievous Rockets this time is considerable. Let's go, I'll negotiate with Mu Chun."

Huo La nodded and said nothing more.

Beishang agreed to come along, first to let Great Niu La take a shortcut, and second because he could speak with Mu Chun—both are Field Masters of this region and have some dealings with each other.

Noticing their arrival, Mu Chun came out with several Diamond Team members.

But at this moment the group was dirty‑faced and completely lacking the haughty demeanor Huo La had shown at first meeting.

Beishang looked at Mu Chun's appearance, his expression still calm, "Field Master Mu Chun, did the Mischievous Rocket King explode again?"

Mu Chun's gaze swept over Huo La, the three others and Great Niu La King, then returned to Beishang, and he nodded, "Exactly, the whole clan self‑detonated together."

"What happened to the Mischievous Rockets?" Huo La asked hurriedly.

Mu Chun glanced at him and replied honestly, "They're all knocked out."

Huo La had just breathed a sigh of relief when Beishang continued, "If I heard correctly, each incident is bigger than the last. If this keeps up, after a few more times this pack of Mischievous Rockets will probably blow themselves to death."

"Huh?" Xiao Zhao, frightened, covered his mouth, his face full of disbelief, "How could this happen…?"

Mu Chun looked at everyone, his expression weary, and waved his hand, "Come in first, we'll talk once inside."

Inside Yingyue Battlefield, a few small houses that hadn't yet been blown apart by the Mischievous Rockets were barely standing.

The group sat casually, waiting quietly for Mu Chun to speak.

"Field Master Beishang, you're not mistaken. At this rate of self‑detonation, they won't last many more cycles. Even some Thunderclap Electric Balls less than a year old probably won't survive the next round."

Mu Chun let out a heavy sigh, his tone no longer as cold as when they met outside earlier.

"Did you not try separating the Mischievous Rockets, the Thunderclap Electric Balls, and the Mischievous Rocket King?" Huo La asked.

Mu Chun glanced at him, his tone flat, "Useless. Since the Mischievous Rocket King malfunctioned, every Pokemon in the clan clusters around it; you can't drive them apart."

Xiao Zhao suddenly recalled something and whispered, "Then, why not use Pokeballs to capture them?"

Mu Chun glanced at her but said nothing. Ming Yao quickly gave her a gentle tug and shook his head.

Beishang spoke in turn, "You saw Great Niu La King's condition; Huo La helped us resolve it. While the Mischievous Rockets have just self‑detonated and are temporarily stable, let Huo La go handle the Mischievous Rocket King right away."

Mu Chun looked at Huo La, sighed, and nodded lightly, "Alright… then I'll trouble you, Huo La."

"No, I disagree!" a sharp voice rang from the doorway, a young man resembling Mu Chun blocked the entrance, his face full of defiance.

"Brother Mu Chun, just because of this guy, how can we let him get near the Mischievous Rocket King?"

"Mu Xia…" Mu Chun looked at the newcomer, his brows slightly furrowed.

"Field Master Beishang of the Pearl Team! And the random members of the Galaxy Team! You all want to see the great Mischievous Rocket King? You're way too bold!" Mu Xia glared at Beishang, Huo La and the others, his tone heated.

Huo La looked at Mu Chun, then at the suddenly appearing Mu Xia, and for a moment was at a loss for words.

The older brother is proud yet still reasonable; the younger brother is a clueless, headless fool.

Huo La looked at Beishang and saw he was also staring at him, clearly dumping this mess onto him to handle.

Huo La sighed and glanced again at Mu Chun.

Mu Chun's usually proud face was now full of embarrassment; he said to Mu Xia in a low voice, "Mu Xia, stop this. Do you want to watch the Mischievous Rockets explode one by one?"

He pleaded about the safety of the Mischievous Rockets, clearly knowing this younger brother inside out.

Mu Xia indeed froze, a hint of struggle flashing across his face, but he stuck his neck up and said, "No, I just don't agree!"

Mu Chun's face flushed with anger, "Someone, lock him up for me!"

Two Diamond Team members rushed forward, trying to haul Mu Xia away. Mu Xia, however, dodged left and right agilely, refusing to be caught.

"I disagree! No matter what you say, I disagree!"

Huo La said helplessly, "Fine. Since you won't let me handle the Mischievous Rocket King, I'll give you a chance—if you can beat me, we'll leave right now, no lingering."

Mu Xia's eyes lit up, "Really? You'll keep your word?"

"Yes, they all listen to me here," Huo La nodded.

"Alright!" Mu Xia immediately agreed.

"Huo La… this…" Mu Chun was suddenly at a loss.

He usually dotes on this younger brother, but now it concerns the life and death of the Mischievous Rockets, not a time for whimsy. Since Huo La has already agreed, he can't openly object.

"It's fine, it'll be over quickly," Huo La sighed lightly.

The Yingyue Battlefield was a pitted, uneven ground, with Huo La and Mu Xia standing opposite each other.

"My time is limited; one round decides win or loss!" Huo La said.

"Heh, that's something I should be saying to you," Mu Xia sneered, "Stinky Skunk!"

A shout rang out, a Stinky Skunk hurried to his side, and Mu Xia patted its head, "Stinky Skunk, I'm counting on you!"

The Stinky Skunk let out a hiss, full of vigor.

Huo La merely gave a casual glance—B‑rank Aptitude, level 30, weaker than he had expected.

He casually pulled out a Pokeball, thought for a moment and swapped it for another, then gently tossed, "Leaf Eevee, I'm counting on you."

Leaf Eevee sprang lightly from the Pokeball, affectionately rubbing against Huo La's leg.

"Leaf Eevee…" Mu Chun looked at the Pokemon Huo La sent out, slightly startled.

"Hmm, this is a partner trained by Captain Gangshi," Huo La heard his voice and explained softly, "It's also the first official battle since I brought it back, a good chance to test its strength."

"Captain Gangshi trained it, huh… fine, then I'll have a look!" Mu Xia's eyes sharpened, and he immediately ordered, "Stinky Skunk, Surprise Attack!"
