Chapter 327: Taming Soroa
"Fireburst Beast, Flamethrower!"
Huo La's gaze hardened, and he whispered a command.
The Fireburst Beast beside him immediately understood, let out a low hum from its throat, and opened its mouth to spew a plume of purplish‑red flame.
The flame was threaded with faint whorls of Ghost Aura, the Ghost Attribute Jet Flame it had just learned, and it shot toward the petite, delicate fox‑shaped Pokemon before it.
That Pokemon had soft, dark‑red fur, its pointed ears slightly drooping, and a pair of round amber eyes; now they showed a hint of wariness and stubbornness.
It reacted instantly, rolled on the spot, its fluffy body leaving a shallow trace on the pristine snow, neatly evading the scorching flame; the flame landed on the snow mound behind it, instantly melting into a puddle.
As soon as it flipped up, it turned its head, its large eyes fixed on the Fireburst Beast, a sharp glint flashing in its gaze, an invisible Stare Attack launched at the Beast, trying to intimidate it.
"Huo La, be careful!" Xiao Zhao, standing on tiptoes not far away, cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted loudly, her tone urgent and a bit coquettish, "This Soroa is so cute, go easy, don't hurt it!"
Huo La heard that, his mouth twitched involuntarily, a wave of speechlessness—what era is this, the girl still fretting over cuteness.
He didn't turn back to attend to Xiao Zhao; his gaze remained fixed on the Soroa before him.
It must be said, this Soroa was indeed exceptionally endearing—fluffy body, round eyes; even with a wary expression now, its soft‑cute aura was undeniable. Not only Xiao Zhao, whose heart was full of girlish sentiment, but even he, a "man" who had lived two lifetimes, couldn't help feeling fondness.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have wanted to capture this Soroa.
Come to think of it, meeting this Soroa was pure luck.
He and Xiao Zhao had just stepped into the Chunbai Dongtu area when a sudden small‑scale avalanche erupted, snow cascading from the sky; the two strained with all their might to barely escape danger.
While they were catching their breath, they happened upon a small flock of Soroa also fleeing the avalanche in panic—three or four in total, huddled together anxiously; the one before them was the little one that had become separated from its companions.
One could say the little creature was lucky to have met him and Xiao Zhao.
Last night, the two of them and a Pokemon spent the night in a hastily erected snow shelter; Xiao Zhao stayed by the Soroa the whole time, feeding it, keeping it warm, while Huo La used the chance to observe the Soroa's temperament.
It was wary but not irritable, clever yet personable.
So, early this morning, he decided to formally capture it; the battle before him was merely the routine pre‑capture procedure.
While Huo La's thoughts flickered, the Soroa on the other side had already launched an attack.
After finishing its Stare Attack, its four short legs sprinted, its fluffy body like a tiny ball of fur, charging fiercely at the Fireburst Beast; its appearance seemed ferocious, but its force was limited.
The Fireburst Beast stood its ground, neither dodging nor evading, allowing the Soroa to collide with its solid body.
A light "dong" sounded, and the Fireburst Beast merely gave a slight stagger, its footing unmoved.
In contrast, the Soroa was bounced far away by its own impact, crashing heavily onto the snow, rolling, its fluffy body coated in snowflakes, looking both pitiful and adorable.
"Now—Shadow Ball!" Huo La said calmly, seizing the moment to issue another command.
The Fireburst Beast instantly focused, its palm swiftly forming a jet‑black Shadow Ball; a flick of its fingertips sent the ball, accompanied by a faint whoosh, precisely striking the snow before the Soroa.
With a "pung" sound, the Shadow Ball exploded, its massive impact instantly bouncing the still‑reeling Soroa upward; it wobbled in the air, clearly drained of strength.
Huo La spotted the perfect moment, raised his right hand, and flung a Pokeball steadily toward the Soroa.
The Pokeball arced through the air, a flash of Red Light briefly enveloping the Soroa, then landed steadily on the snow, giving a couple of gentle shakes before coming to a complete stop.
The Fireburst Beast instantly twitched excitedly, sprinted over, carefully scooped up the Pokeball with its claws, then hopped back to Huo La's side, nudging his arm with its head and handing the ball to him, its eyes gleaming with a boastful look.
Huo La smiled as he took the Pokeball, tapped its switch lightly; the ball lit up, a flash of Red Light, and the Soroa's figure materialized, still in that soft‑cute form, but now lacking its previous wariness, its gaze showing a hint of docility.
Xiao Zhao, seeing this, hurried over, gently cradling the Soroa, lightly patting its fluffy head, her tone so tender it could drip water: "So cute!"
The Soroa tilted its head slightly, glanced at Xiao Zhao, then at Huo La, gently nudged Xiao Zhao's palm, emitting a soft, mellow Cry.
Huo La watched the heartwarming scene, a faint smile tugging at his mouth; the fatigue and tension of the past hours seemed, at that moment, eased a bit by the tiny Soroa.
"Let's go, Soroa, you hold on first," Huo La said, hand on the shelter, gazing into the white‑out wind and snow ahead, "If I'm not mistaken, ahead lies Kuhan Huangdi, Diamond Team's territory."
He paused, recalling, "I remember the Field Master over there is called Shan Kui."
Xiao Zhao, cradling the soft Soroa, nodded obediently, "That's right, it's Shan Kui. I heard... she's still a child."
"A child?" Huo La blinked, then gently shook his head, "Not in appearance. She just looks like a kid; her actual age should be similar to the Field Master of Zhubei."
"Ah?!" Xiao Zhao's eyes widened instantly, a shocked expression on her face.
"Don't be surprised; you'd know once you see her," Huo La said, saying no more, raising his hand to recall the Fireburst Beast, and stepped toward the depths of Kuhan Huangdi.
Xiao Zhao, still holding the Soroa, hurried to keep pace, the trio's silhouettes gradually fading into the snowstorm of Chunbai Dongtu.
