Chapter 439: I Go to Stop Gilbert
Accompanied by a massive water vortex soaring into the sky, a plaintive yet thunderously angry cry pierced the wind and waves, resonating across the entire sea and shaking people's eardrums— that was the sound of Lugia, low and powerful, harboring displeasure at being disturbed.
It's coming!
Lugia!
On the rooftop of the research base's top floor, Gilbert stood at the edge, his expression so agitated that his whole body trembled slightly, his eyes fixed intently on the sea, filled with greed and fanaticism.
Lugia is coming; unsurprisingly, his Pokemon collection will gain another legendary-grade treasure!
As for the explosions and roars coming from the lower base, to him they are merely irrelevant noise. At this moment his mind and eyes are filled only with the soon-to-appear Lugia; everything else is not worth his attention.
Gilbert slowly drew a completely black Master Ball rimmed with gold from his pocket, his fingertips repeatedly rubbing its surface, his gaze blazing, patiently waiting for Lugia to enter his capture range, ready to strike and bag the legendary sea god.
Meanwhile, inside the lower research base, the atmosphere had already become tense.
Huo La stood upright at the front, behind him Kyurem was surrounded by dense Shadow Energy, and Ivysaur stretched its thick Vine Whip; both stared fiercely at XiLaNu ahead, their imposing presence overwhelming.
Huo La's tone was icy, without a word of waste, he shouted sternly, "Hand over the controller you have!"
XiLaNu's mouth twitched violently, his complexion as pale as paper.
Not to mention the chaos inside the base at this moment, the very presence of the genuine Legendary Pokémon Kyurem behind Huo La, with its crushing aura, was enough to make him stiffen, daring not to move a muscle.
Yet he still clutched tightly the controller for the Three Legendary Birds, his knuckles white, clearly trying to stall for time, awaiting support.
Seeing his refusal to cooperate, Huo La, without any intention of idle talk, lowly shouted, "Ivysaur!"
Before the words left his mouth, two thick, pillar-like Vine Whips shot out from Ivysaur, bearing a fierce gust, striking XiLaNu hard.
Without any restraint, XiLaNu was hit by the Vine Whip, his body instantly flew like a kite with its line cut, crashing heavily into the cold wall, a muffled groan, and he fell into a coma on the spot.
The Vine Whip, following the motion, coiled and firmly seized the controller from XiLaNu's hand, handing it to Huo La.
Huo La took the controller, fiddled with it up and down a couple of times, his gaze sweeping over the assistant who had long been trembling in fear in the corner, and in an icy tone asked, "How to use it? How to lift the control over the Three Legendary Birds?"
The assistant, looking at the fallen, fate-uncertain XiLaNu and glancing at the two imposing Pokemon behind Huo La, spoke with a trembling, stammering voice, "Just… just smash it! Once the controller is broken, the mental control over the Three Legendary Birds will be lifted instantly! As for their mechanical armor, once the mental control is removed, their own strength can easily break free!"
Huo La, hearing this, did not hesitate at all, raised his hand and smashed the controller hard onto the ground.
Clang—!
A crisp shattering sound rang out, the controller instantly smashed into pieces, fragments scattering everywhere, completely losing its function.
"Huo La, it worked!" Bilan, who had been staring intently at the observation glass, immediately exclaimed with excitement in his voice.
Beyond the base, over the sea, at the instant the controller shattered, the bodies of Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno jolted sharply; their previously rigid motions froze, halting their attacks on Chi Hong Ge and Palkia, hovering mid‑air, standing dazed as if suddenly awakened from controlled chaos.
But moments later, a flash of clarity passed through the eyes of the three Legendary Birds, followed by scorching flames, blinding electric light, and fierce icy cold erupting simultaneously upon their bodies; the raging energy swept all around, instantly crushing the heavy mechanical shells encasing them into fragments that flew outward.
Free from control and restraint, the three Legendary Birds raised their heads and let out a soaring cry, their voices full of liberation and anger, their elemental energies intensifying, regaining the majesty and power befitting Legendary Pokémon.
After regaining their senses, the Three Legendary Birds did not leave the battle; instead, as if the recent control and pain had fully enraged them, they launched fierce attacks against each other.
In an instant, the sky over the entire sea turned into a battlefield, savage lightning striking down, scorching flames spewing wildly, bone‑piercing ice and snow swirling through the air; the three forces intertwined and clashed, their ferocity surpassing even the previous controlled onslaught.
Under the violent energy shock, the ground of Shamouti Island shook ever more violently, houses collapsed, debris flew, the entire island fell into utter chaos, filled with roaring sounds and screams.
Bilan stared tightly at the turmoil outside the observation glass, his face pale, his tone full of anxiety as he turned to Huo La, "Huo La, what do we do? If the Three Legendary Birds keep fighting each other, they'll not only destroy the whole island, they might even affect the entire Orange Archipelago."
Huo La furrowed his brows, clenched his teeth, and swiftly turned to Bilan, without hesitation handing over the Pokeball containing Kyurem, rapidly ordering, "Take this, immediately take Kyurem out and coordinate with Chi Hong Ge and Palkia; by any means you must suppress the Three Legendary Birds, you cannot let them continue their internal fight!"
Bilan froze for a moment, then quickly took the Pokeball, asking anxiously, "And you? Where are you going?"
"I have more important matters to attend to," Huo La's gaze passed over Bilan, fixed on the monitor screen beside them, his tone solemn.
On the screen, it was the rooftop of the research base's top level—Gilbert still stood there, his expression fanatical, his hand tightly gripping the Master Ball, his fingertips continuously rubbing.
Within the massive vortex before him, a white silhouette flickered in and out, the outline of its wings gradually sharpening—it was the soon-to-appear Lugia, still struggling in the vortex, clearly already targeted by Gilbert.
Huo La's gaze darkened.
Gilbert had been waiting for this moment from start to finish; regardless of the base's chaos or how the Three Legendary Birds fought each other, his goal has always been to capture Lugia.
"I'm going to stop Gilbert; I can't let him catch Lugia!" Huo La said in a low voice, gripping the Pokeball in his hand tightly, and turned to rush toward the upper levels of the base.
