Chapter 459: I Suggest We Hold Our Positions for Now and Observe a While Longer

~5 min read 975 words

Aether Foundation, Aether Paradise island.

The island's previously cold, orderly technological regime has now been completely shattered.

Shrill alarms rang through the heavens as Zha'aobo stood before the floor‑to‑ceiling window of the command room, his gaze fixed on the ever‑expanding Ultimate Abyss on the distant sea surface.

Around the mouth, swarms of ultimate exotic beasts poured out incessantly, the tentacles of the Void Ide flailed wildly in the air, Buzzwole let out a low roar, Poison Beibi circled in groups overhead, turning the once‑clear sky into an eerie dark‑purple hue.

"Damn it! Damn it!" Zha'aobo slammed a fist into the glass, his knuckles whitening, his tone laced with hysterical fury, "Who can tell me what the hell is happening! How did the Ultimate Abyss open all of a sudden! Did you cause this! Did you!"

He turned and roared at the empty dark corner, veins bulging on his forehead.

"Heh, I said it wasn't me, do you believe it?" The familiar, slightly mocking, eerie voice came again from the darkness, its tone full of schadenfreude.

"Then what the hell is going on!" Zha'aobo's voice trembled, "Our particle conduit is still under testing! How could such a massive Ultimate Abyss appear out of nowhere!"

At that moment, a rapid clatter of high heels approached from afar, breaking the command room's chaos.

Lusamine pushed the door open, ignoring the panicked researchers around her; her eyes immediately fell on the Ultimate Abyss outside the window, instantly flashing with unmistakable excitement and fervor.

"Zha'aobo!" she hurried to his side, voice trembling with excitement, "We did it! The research on the Ultimate Abyss is finally a success!"

"No… it wasn't us," Zha'aobo looked at her, the fury in his eyes fading to a hint of helplessness, "It wasn't our equipment that opened it."

Lusamine's smile vanished abruptly; she slowly turned her head, her gaze returning to the twisted Space-time Rift, her tone instantly turning icy cold: "When can our equipment be activated?"

Zha'aobo met her gaze, his eyes unintentionally softening, a near‑humble tenderness in his voice: "We're only missing the final safety test; the original plan was three days later…"

"No need to wait," Lusamine cut him off, her tone leaving no room for objection, "We'll use the Ultimate Abyss right before us as the test, activate the equipment immediately, amplify it. I'm going in now."

"But Chairperson!" Zha'aobo's expression changed, hastily urging, "The origin of this Ultimate Abyss is unknown, its interior completely uncertain, it's too dangerous! We should at least send a scouting team…"

"There is no 'but.'" Lusamine's voice held no warmth; she stepped toward the window, extended her hand as if to touch the glowing Rift, her eyes filled with a near‑pathological attachment and obsession, "I have waited for this day for far too long."

Zha'aobo watched her slender, resolute silhouette, his lips moving before he clenched his teeth, then abruptly turned and barked at the researchers behind him, "Follow the Chairperson's orders! Activate the equipment immediately, amplify the Ultimate Abyss! Prepare to enter the passage!"

With that command, the entire Aether Foundation instantly mobilized like a high‑speed, precision beast.

In moments, several standard‑model spacecraft lifted off in succession, marching grandly toward the distant Ultimate Abyss.

Along the way, battles erupted continuously; the ultimate exotic beasts entrenched around the mouth were forcefully eradicated, and the gathered beast horde scattered in chaotic flight.

"The Aether Foundation finally took action," Bike gazed at the distant horizon, her tone hiding an unmistakable worry.

As soon as the words fell, a massive energy beam of staggering magnitude shot out from deep within Aether Paradise, striking the Void Rift with pinpoint accuracy.

The Ultimate Abyss, originally only large enough for beasts to pass, rapidly expanded under the thrust of this Sheer Force, its mouth stretching ever wider, while the surrounding warped spatial fluctuations grew increasingly violent and terrifying.

At that moment, a luxuriously designed exclusive spacecraft slowly rose, reaching the front of the Ultimate Abyss in an instant.

Huo La's gaze steadied, clearly seeing the blond woman standing at the bow and the man beside her; he instantly recognized them as Lusamine and Zha'aobo.

He turned his head toward the solemn Bike beside him and asked, "Deputy Director Bike, I've always been puzzled—why is Lusamine so obsessed, insisting on Sheer Force opening and stepping into the Ultimate Abyss?"

Bike's gaze lingered on the magnificent ship suspended in the Void, fixed on the figure at its bow; after a long silence she finally spoke, "She's so recklessly fixated on opening the Ultimate Abyss because of Mo En, the biological father of Gladio and Lillie."

Hearing the name Mo En, Huo La's heart stirred, instantly conjuring the image of a middle‑aged man in his mind.

Doctor Mo En had once been a top authority in the study of Ultra Space and ultimate exotic beasts.

During a high‑risk experiment years ago that linked to the Ultimate Abyss, an accident occurred; Mo En tragically fell into an alternate dimension and was lost forever, leaving behind no word, only a trove of research on the Void Ide and a precious Cosmo Relic.

As Mo En's wife, Lusamine has since been consumed by obsession, determined to enter that unknown otherworld to retrieve her husband; consequently, she seeks to force‑open the passage using the power of the Cosmo Relic, heading for Ultra Space.

"Huo La, the Ultimate Abyss is now fully open…" Bike's words halted midway, the implication obvious; now was the prime moment to intervene.

Huo La instantly grasped her intent, raised his hand and produced three Pokeballs, ready to act at once.

But the instant the three Pokeballs materialized, he was suddenly taken aback, his movement freezing in place.

After a brief thought, he turned to Bike and said calmly, "Deputy Director Bike, I suggest we hold our positions for now and observe a while longer."
