Chapter 493: I Said the Battle Would End in One Turn

Looking at Noivern, Wang Lun thought for a moment and sent out his last Pokémon.

"I'm counting on you, Dewgong!"

Dewgong

Gender: Female

Type: Water, Ice

Ability: Ice Body

Potential: HP (B), Atk (C), Def (C), SpAtk (C), SpDef (B), Spd (C)

Potential Rank: Elite

Strength: Elite (Early)

Bai Jing was utterly mortified—did they really have to target him this hard?

Just as Mantyke was four-times weak to Electric, Noivern was also four-times weak to Ice.

"Come back, Noivern!"

Bai Jing recalled Noivern, then scratched his head in a dilemma—who should he send out?

Togekiss wasn't good against opponents hiding in the water, and Charizard was also at a type disadvantage.

Aegislash, Gallade, and Ralts weren't with him.

Larvitar and Gible weren't suitable either.

Running through the roster like this, wasn't he left with only Slaking, Lucario, and Dragonite—the three heavyweights?

This... wouldn't that be bullying the opponent a bit too much?

"Fine, you're up then, Dragonite!"

Dragonite

Gender: Female

Type: Water, Ice (200%)

Ability: Hydration

Potential: HP (SS), Atk (S), Def (S), SpAtk (S), SpDef (S), Spd (B)

Potential Rank: Champion

Strength: Quasi-Elite Four (Peak)

Affinity: Water (5%), Ice (13%)

Held Items: Snowheart, Ice Plate, Mega Stone

Bai Jing sending out another Pokémon left Wang Lun a little annoyed!

"You don't think I'd just tank a four-times weakness head-on, do you? Do I really look that stupid?"

Wang Lun said coolly, "I've run a Gym long enough to see plenty of trainers, and there are more than a few like you!"

Bai Jing was completely speechless. What kind of people are these? Are they idiots just like Ash?

"The battle continues!"

"It's over!"

"Huh?"

"I said the battle will end in one turn!"

Wang Lun flew into a rage. "Young man, don't you—"

"Dragonite, use Surf!"

The water from the entire pool was drawn over, forming a massive wave that crashed forward!

Wang Lun was dumbfounded, and the Dewgong clinging to the bottom of the pool panicked—before that enormous wave, it looked utterly tiny, trembling in fear!

"Quick, Ice Beam!"

The freezing ray struck the giant wave, and the wave began to freeze over.

"Heh, Water Pulse!"

Dragonite on the wave slapped the water's surface, and a powerful shockwave formed within, shattering the ice completely as the wave crashed down!

With a thunderous boom, even the walls of the pool cracked apart, and Dewgong was in even worse shape—completely embedded into them!

"This is the gap in strength!"

"Dewgong is unable to battle! The challenger wins!"

Wang Lun's mouth twitched. That kid had gone way too far—had he known, he would have sent out his ace too!

Afterwards, Deng Xin and Wang Lun engaged in a fierce clash of Water-types, battling quite intensely.

In the end, Bai Jing could tell Wang Lun was holding back; otherwise, whether Deng Xin could have beaten him was still an unknown.

No one who becomes a Gym Leader is simple, because the position is highly sought-after and the competition is extremely fierce—even Gyms within secret realms are the same!

However, the duty of a Gym Leader is to teach newcomers and guide the younger generation, so they generally don't go all-out; this kind of win or loss is meaningless to them.

After collecting another Water Badge, the two left the Gym.

"Time to head to the next island?"

"Yeah, there's nothing fun left here! As for Aegislash, we'll just go pick it up later!"

"Then let's go!"
