Chapter 543: First Level, Rat!

The so-called Birth Island is not a single island, but a small, independent piece of land extending from the Exploration Island.

The Trainer's Tower stands at the entrance, twelve stories and several hundred meters high; after all, it is built for combat, so it must be spacious.

"It does look quite imposing!"

Bai Jing and Deng Xin were sizing up this tall tower.

"Let's go, let's see what kind of Pokémon the so-called Twelve Zodiacs are, and how strong the trainers guarding the levels are."

The two stepped onto the first floor.

"Welcome to the Trainer's Tower. I am Rat of the Twelve Zodiacs, and also the guardian of the first floor."

Standing opposite them was a young man with a deer-like head and rat-like eyes, looking thoroughly sleazy; one must admit, it was a perfect match!

"Each of the Twelve Zodiacs has a symbolic Pokémon; let me show you my partner!"

"Come out, Rattata!"

Rattata

Gender: Female

Type: Normal

Ability: Guts

Stats: HP (D), Attack (B), Defense (C), Sp. Atk (D), Sp. Def (C), Speed (B)

Potential: Elite

Power: Elite (Early Stage)

A very mediocre Rattata, but having Elite power on the first level suggests the final level won't be far behind!

Bai Jing nodded. "Not bad; among many Pokémon, Rattata does resemble a rat the most."

"Who will challenge first?"

"I will!"

Taking the lead is naturally Bai Jing's job.

"You're my choice, Larvitar!"

Larvitar

Gender: None

Type: Rock, Ground

Ability: Sand Veil

Stats: HP (S), Attack (SS), Defense (SS), Sp. Atk (S), Sp. Def (S), Speed (B)

Potential: Champion

Power: Ordinary (Peak)

Rat exclaimed in surprise: "It's actually a Pseudo-Legendary, but a Pseudo-Legendary that hasn't grown yet isn't that strong!"

The current power may be lacking, but high potential and stats are enough; these also provide bonuses to combat strength.

The referee waved his flag. "Battle begin!"

"Rattata, Quick Attack!"

Rattata turned into a streak of light and crashed forward!

"Rock Tomb!"

Larvitar clapped its hands together, and four stone slabs blocked in front of it.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Rattata smashed through three slabs in succession, but its momentum was spent; it crashed headfirst into the fourth slab with a thud, leaving it feeling dizzy and groggy.

Bai Jing smiled calmly. "Sandstorm!"

Against opponents lacking skills to change the weather, this move is a cheat code.
