Chapter 1526: Exposing Bodhisattva Lingji
In another corner of the manor, Venerable Kasyapa, Bodhisattva Manjusri, and two others
were sitting in a circle.
They began to discuss Tang Seng, Sun Wukong, and the group of five.
Bodhisattva Manjusri spoke first:
"In my view, Tang Seng, Sun Wukong, and the four of them performed extremely well in this test of Zen hearts."
"Even Marshal Tianpeng, whose willpower is the weakest, was able to maintain excellent focus in front of our four stunning beauties."
"It can be said that their Buddhist hearts are firm."
Regarding Bodhisattva Manjusri's words, the other two present, Venerable Kasyapa and Bodhisattva Samantabhadra, nodded in agreement.
However, Bodhisattva Lingji felt extremely unbalanced in his heart.
It was not that Bodhisattva Lingji had any complaints about Tang Seng.
Rather, Bodhisattva Lingji held great resentment toward Sun Wukong and Marshal Tianpeng.
In his view, back at Huangfeng Ridge,
if Sun Wukong and Marshal Tianpeng had not been watching from the sidelines, would he, Bodhisattva Lingji, have been forced to flee in such a sorry state by the Yellow Wind King and Tiger Vanguard?
To the extent that, in order to help them, Bodhisattva Lingji had even sacrificed his own magic treasure, the Wind-Fixing Bead.
But the result was that he gained no benefits at all.
Under these circumstances, if Bodhisattva Lingji did not vent this frustration, he feared that if it continued to develop, it would become his inner demon.
"Bodhisattva Manjusri's words are reasonable, but..."
Saying this, Bodhisattva Lingji deliberately left a cliffhanger.
Venerable Kasyapa looked at Bodhisattva Lingji with some confusion:
"But what?"
Venerable Kasyapa did not yet know what medicine Bodhisattva Lingji was selling in his gourd.
Therefore, he asked directly.
Bodhisattva Lingji did not deliberately stall anymore and stated the script he had prepared:
"Venerable Kasyapa, it is like this."
"We have indeed tested the Buddhist hearts of Tang Seng, Sun Wukong, and the four of them."
"However, this was all based on our main target being Tang Seng."
"Sun Wukong, Marshal Tianpeng, and General Wujing were not tempted much at all."
"Therefore, under these circumstances, if we say their Buddhist hearts are firm, I fear Maitreya Buddha will not believe it."
Venerable Kasyapa understood that although Bodhisattva Lingji's words were ostensibly for Maitreya Buddha's sake,
secretly, he wanted to use this matter to take revenge for his encounter at Huangfeng Ridge.
Regarding this, Venerable Kasyapa did not refute him.
After all, it was just one more test, which in Venerable Kasyapa's view, was not a troublesome matter.
Instead, he could use this matter to do a favor for Bodhisattva Lingji; why not?
It was for this reason that Venerable Kasyapa did not expose Bodhisattva Lingji's intentions.
Instead, he smiled slightly and said:
"Bodhisattva Lingji's words are reasonable."
"However, since that is the case,"
"take advantage of tonight while Tang Seng and his disciples are still here; if you want to test them, do it as soon as possible."
Bodhisattva Lingji nodded excitedly upon hearing this.
Although Bodhisattva Lingji's reason was seamless, in front of Venerable Kasyapa, a Bodhisattva of great wisdom,
Bodhisattva Lingji did not think that Venerable Kasyapa could not see through his intentions.
Yet, although Venerable Kasyapa had seen through his little scheme, he still agreed.
How could Bodhisattva Lingji not feel happy about this? ===== CHAPTER 1528 =====
