Chapter 1903: One person cannot change anything
The monk appeared extremely panicked, looked back, and then saw Tang Sanzang riding on the White Dragon Horse and Fahai standing to the side.
"Are you two also monks? Run quickly! If you don't run, you will lose your lives!"
The monk looked at Tang Sanzang and Fahai, then said quickly.
"This little master, why should we run?"
Tang Sanzang looked at him, doubt arising in his eyes.
Fahai looked at this monk, his thick brows furrowed.
"Alas, you don't know yet, do you? This is the Chechi Kingdom. The Emperor of the Chechi Kingdom reveres Daoism and treats Buddhism as a heresy. Here, the status of us monks is not even as good as a dog; we are either beaten to death or captured to do hard labor."
The monk took a look at his fellow disciples who had already run far ahead, his expression becoming increasingly anxious.
"There is such a thing? Since ancient times, Buddhism has been respected by all countries. Why does this Chechi Kingdom treat it this way?"
Fahai felt a flash of anger in his eyes upon hearing this and said.
"They are coming! They are coming! It's over, we can't run away now!"
Before the monk could finish speaking, he saw dust flying on the road behind, and a troop of soldiers was chasing toward them.
Sun Wukong looked at him and said, "Little master, don't panic. We will solve this."
The monk looked at him, his eyes showing some doubt, and even disdain. "You? It's all because of you! I can't run away now, and now I have to lose my life along with you!"
Just as Sun Wukong was about to say something, he heard the sound of horse hooves approaching. At this moment, a general riding a horse in front roared loudly, "Bold heretics, how dare you escape privately! This time you are dead!"
Upon hearing this, the monk was so scared that his legs went weak. He just looked up at the sky, put his hands together, and said with helplessness in his eyes, "Buddha, what crime has our Buddhism committed to be treated like this?"
"It is fine if I die, but I have never understood: Buddha teaches us to transform the world, why must we all end up like this?"
As the monk spoke, tears flowed from his eyes involuntarily.
On the other side, the general waved an iron chain in his hand. At the end of the chain was an iron ball full of iron spikes. After spinning it around his head a few times, he smashed it fiercely toward the monk.
The monk knelt on the ground, his eyes dazed. At the moment of life and death, he muttered to himself, "If I do not enter hell, who will? Buddha, the disciple has never regretted practicing Zen for a moment, only praying that the fellow disciples of the world can be safe."
Tang Sanzang saw the monk's actions, and his eyes also revealed a moved expression. He sighed long, but turned his gaze toward Sun Wukong and Fahai.
Sun Wukong was already so angry that his teeth were clenched. He said, "Tsk, how dare they treat monks like this! Simply beastly behavior!"
Fahai also said angrily, "It is truly strange. Is the Emperor of the Chechi Kingdom sick in the head? I have never seen such a thing."
The iron-spiked hammer smashed straight toward them. Sun Wukong leaped up and met it, waving his Ruyi Jingu Bang fiercely, knocking the iron-spiked hammer back.
"Clang!"
A crisp sound, exceptionally loud, instantly sent sparks flying. All the common people in the market were stunned by this scene.
The monk had originally knelt on the ground, hands together, in a state of waiting for death. When he saw Sun Wukong block the hammer with his staff, his eyes revealed a look of shock.
"You must not do this. You cannot change anything by yourself."
The monk looked up at Sun Wukong, who was suspended in the air, and said.
Sun Wukong heard him, just lowered his head to look at him, and smiled faintly. ===== CHAPTER 1905 =====
