Chapter 2273
Fahai channeled his mental power; he decided to save Sun Wukong first.
The wooden fish in the ruined temple hung in mid-air, and the wooden mallet began to strike, sending golden rings of light drifting toward Sun Wukong's position.
Just then, Leng Hua's figure streaked through the air, leaving behind a trail of afterimages. With an ice awl in his right hand, he thrust directly at a blue light, aiming straight for Fahai's heart.
Fahai's thick brows furrowed; he dared not be the least bit negligent. He jerked his body to the side, then transformed his palm into a claw, attempting to seize Leng Hua's wrist.
"This wretch, I actually cannot break his defense. I must restrain him first."
Fahai thought to himself.
However, Leng Hua cast a sidelong glance, a cunning light appearing in his eyes. Instead, he hooked his right hand, using the ice spike on his elbow to slash directly at Fahai's palm.
"Ssh!"
Another sound of flesh rubbing against flesh rang out. Fahai had not expected this at all and suddenly felt a sharp pain in his palm.
Blood splattered as Fahai realized his palm had been cut with a deep gash.
He was momentarily flustered and wanted to gather his Qi to leap backward and plot another strategy.
Yet Leng Hua took a sudden step forward, his left-hand ice awl driving straight in, piercing directly into Fahai's right chest.
Blood dripped down along the ice awl, drop by drop.
A cold smile curled the corners of Leng Hua's mouth. Fahai stood frozen in mid-air, his eyes filled with disbelief.
"I told you long ago, neither of you is a match for me!"
Leng Hua's gaze was as cold as frost as he looked at Fahai and spoke.
"I did not want to fight you, but I cannot watch you kill the innocent!"
Blood spilled from the corner of Fahai's mouth as he replied.
"Innocent? Hehehe!"
"If you say that woman is innocent, then what about me?"
Leng Hua's gaze was incredibly gloomy as he let out a burst of wild laughter.
"I do not know, but every cause has its effect."
"Your mother had no other choice."
Fahai stared fixedly at him and said.
"No choice?"
"He was a citizen of the Women's Kingdom of Western Liang. He should have drunk the water from the river of the Women's Kingdom and given birth to a daughter; that way, I would not exist."
"But he insisted on being with a demon, giving birth to me. Giving birth to me would have been one thing, but he also made me suffer for a lifetime. That was his choice."
"Did he not know that things would eventually turn out like this?"
Leng Hua stared fixedly into Fahai's eyes, his tone clearly one of interrogation.
"I do not know. I suspect he might not have known either."
Fahai frowned, blood spilling from his mouth again as he spoke.
"Enough of your nonsense. Once the ice-thorn flower in my hand blooms, I will make you blossom completely into a blood-stained firework."
"Have you ever seen fireworks? Great Monk, that thing is very beautiful."
Leng Hua curled his lips into a cold smile and then said.
As his words fell, frost began to condense on Leng Hua's right arm, and countless snowflakes began to swirl around it.
What was this so-called ice-thorn flower? No one had ever seen it. What exactly was it?
Fahai only felt that he could not persuade this man, and the intense pain in his chest left him with no strength to resist.
"Stop, Leng Hua!"
"Kill me! Kill me, will you? Consider it as your mother owing you! Let these two Tang Dynasty monks go."
Die Lan looked up into the air, eyes filled with tears, and shouted.
Leng Hua paused for a moment and looked back at Die Lan. His eyes narrowed, wondering what he was thinking.
On the ground, Sun Wukong was covered in wounds, his Qi weak and his body exhausted, looking up at everything in the air.
