Chapter 2437: The Sudden Loss of Buddha-Light

~3 min read 597 words

Sun Wukong listened and said indifferently, "So that's how it is."

Subsequently, Tang Seng said, "Shall we go sweep the pagoda now?"

Although Sun Wukong had no great interest in these matters, out of concern for Tang Seng's safety, he said, "Very well, Master."

And so, the two left the room and headed toward the Buddhist pagoda.

The night in Jisaiguo was also brightly lit, with a bustling night market, showing the prosperity of this nation.

Tang Seng walked forward with undivided attention, while Sun Wukong walked quietly by his side.

Looking into the distance, the intense light at the top of the pagoda was like a miniature sun, emitting an incomparably dazzling radiance, so even without a moon, the night in Jisaiguo was not much different from the day.

Sun Wukong suddenly felt curious and asked, "Master, what kind of high monk was it whose Sarira could become so bright after death?"

Tang Seng looked at him and said, "A monk should not speak of death, but of nirvana. Wukong, that master passed away over a thousand years ago. It is said his dharma name was Shi Xinming. He attained enlightenment at twenty, understood the Mahayana Buddhist dharma, and spent his life promoting it. That is why, after his nirvana, he transformed into such a bright Sarira, blessing the entire Jisaiguo."

Sun Wukong thought to himself, "Dead is dead, what difference is there from nirvana?"

But he said aloud, "That is truly remarkable. It seems Master has not yet fully comprehended the Mahayana Buddhist dharma yourself."

Tang Seng turned his head to look at Sun Wukong and said, "Your master has indeed not fully comprehended it yet, which is why I wish to see Master Shi Xinming's Sarira with my own eyes."

Sun Wukong nodded and said, "Oh."

The two walked forward, following the guidance of the light.

Magnificent towers and pavilions passed by on both sides. Sun Wukong watched with full curiosity, while Tang Seng remained focused. Perhaps, to him, these were merely reflections in a mirror or flowers in the water.

Just as they were less than a mile from the pagoda, dark clouds suddenly gathered in the sky.

"Boom!"

A massive clap of thunder exploded against everyone's eardrums.

Pedestrians on the street and vendors by the roadside looked up at the sky one after another.

If it were ordinary thunder, it would not be strange, but today the sky had been clear with ten thousand miles of blue; why, in the evening, did such a thunderclap suddenly sound?

Sun Wukong frowned, looking at the dark clouds in the sky; he seemed to have a bad premonition.

Immediately following, a bolt of lightning illuminated the night sky, tearing through the heavens, looking like a giant dragon baring its fangs and brandishing its claws.

It started to rain!

The sound of pattering rain soon began, and it rained throughout Jisaiguo.

At first, people did not notice anything unusual.

But a vendor under a lamp suddenly cried out in alarm, "What kind of rain is this? Why is it red?"

Subsequently, someone else immediately shouted loudly, "This isn't rain at all, it's blood!"

Everyone on the long street began to touch themselves, and the raindrops that fell, the stickiness on their fingers, were clearly extremely abnormal.

"A strange omen from heaven! Something bizarre must be about to happen!"

"Why would such a situation occur? Doesn't our Jisaiguo have the Kongming Buddhist Pagoda protecting us?"

"This matter is simply too bizarre; it's actually raining blood!"

Everyone began to discuss it one after another. ===== CHAPTER 2439 =====
