Chapter 2451: So-called forbearance
But even though he possessed heaven-defying abilities, he could not escape the shackles of fate; the Tight-Fillet Spell on his head, and the fact that the Buddha was always observing him in the dark.
He had even been annoyed many times, annoyed to the core, annoyed to the core by Tang Seng's rhetoric of compassion above all else. He wanted to take advantage of a night when Tang Seng was fast asleep and beat him to death with one strike of his staff.
Then, he would no longer have to be controlled by the Tight-Fillet Spell, and from then on, he would become a demon, an enemy of heaven and earth.
If the Buddha were to strike again, he would definitely use all his abilities, and even if he died in battle and turned to ashes, he would not accept this humiliation, this control.
But as it happened, fate changed; he met Wu Feng.
Wu Feng taught him a principle, and this principle was perhaps 'forbearance'.
"I was born from the creation of heaven and earth, a spiritual stone left behind by Nuwa when she mended the sky. How could I be controlled by you, Buddha!"
"Buddha, just you wait. One day, I will strike your head with my staff!"
These were Sun Wukong's thoughts; this was his most authentic side.
Tang Seng, while sweeping the pagoda, suddenly said, "Wukong, it's been hard on you all these years."
Sun Wukong was suddenly stunned, not expecting Tang Seng to say such things. He said, "Master, what's wrong with you? Why are you like a different person today?"
"If we're talking about hardship, which one of us disciples hasn't suffered? Junior Brother Sha, Bajie, and even Fahai, including the little white dragon Ao Lie."
Tang Seng turned his head to look down at Sun Wukong, who was standing on the stairs, revealing a gentle smile on his face as he said, "Your master knows that your nature is unrestrained, but you also have a pure and kind heart."
"Although the other disciples have also suffered a lot, I know this, and you might also feel that I am usually too strict with you."
"But what you don't know is that your master actually cares about you the most."
Sun Wukong scratched his head, instantly feeling a bit embarrassed.
What was this? Suddenly being alone together, Tang Seng suddenly said so many heartfelt words, which made him somewhat unable to accept it for a moment.
Before Sun Wukong could say anything, Tang Seng said again, "I don't ask to educate you into becoming a Buddha, but I hope that one day, you can possess your own freedom."
Sun Wukong smiled awkwardly and said, "So Master has thought it through so thoroughly."
"I don't actually have any thoughts; I just feel that since I possess such abilities, and you happen to be going to the Western Heaven to obtain the scriptures, I can't just watch a mortal like you be eaten into a demon's belly."
A gentle smile also appeared on Tang Seng's face as he said, "I know, every time I am captured by a demon, you are the one who is most anxious, and you are the one who puts in the most effort."
Sun Wukong looked at the sincere light in Tang Seng's eyes and said with a smile, "Master, you'd better not talk like that. I feel quite embarrassed and don't know how to answer you."
"This is all something I should do."
Tang Seng nodded, a look of approval appearing in his eyes, and then continued to walk toward the top of the pagoda.
"Bodhi originally has no tree, the bright mirror is also not a stand. Originally there is nothing, where can dust gather?"
This was a passage from the Heart Sutra, which Tang Seng often recited.
For some reason, in such a space, this scripture passage echoed in Sun Wukong's mind.
Was he a follower of Buddhism?
Sun Wukong asked himself. He never felt that he believed in the Buddha; toward the Buddha, he only had two words: "Unconvinced!" ===== CHAPTER 2453 =====
