Chapter 1989: The Yao Emperor
The Wu clan and the Yao clan appeared before the Two Western Saints simultaneously—a matter of great significance in the Honghuang, and all beings of the Honghuang wished to see how the Two Western Saints would choose.
Tian Wu had no intention of wasting words with the Flame Mouse.
Unfortunately, the Flame Mouse was utterly unafraid; though inwardly terrified, his expression showed no sign of it, and he continued as if nothing were amiss, staring intently at Jieyin and Zhunti.
Before leaving the Yao Court, Donghuang Taiyi and Di Jun had given them a sealed pouch, instructing them to present it to the Two Western Saints should they meet them.
The Flame Mouse directly placed the pouch into Jieyin's hands.
"This pouch was entrusted to us by our Yao Emperor, to be delivered to the Two Western Saints."
The Flame Mouse presented the pouch with both hands; after Jieyin received it, he glanced at Zhunti, and together they opened it, their faces turning pale with shock at its contents.
Donghuang Taiyi had written only one sentence: if the Two Western Saints refrained from interfering in the struggle between the Yao and Wu clans, they would assist the two in obtaining what they desired within the Honghuang.
Jieyin did not know what Zhunti needed, but he himself knew exactly what he required.
Zhunti longed to amass countless treasures of gold and silver in the Honghuang and carry them back to his own domain, and he also wished for more beings to revere him.
One could say Zhunti was a false saint!
But Jieyin was not!
Jieyin needed above all to liberate all sentient beings, and he possessed the power to do so; the Yao clan's promise held no appeal whatsoever for him.
Yet seeing Zhunti's expression, Jieyin instantly understood his choice.
But if they could act thus, why then had Donghuang Taiyi and Di Jun been steadily pushed back by Luo Fu?
The root of all this was simply their lack of strength.
The Flame Mouse and the Yellow Wind Demon, these minor demons, had no idea what lay inside the pouch—not even Tian Wu or Weng Zi knew; they merely watched from the side.
Tian Wu was growing impatient.
"Two Saints, may the Wu clan speak a word?"
"Please."
Jieyin glanced at Tian Wu; he understood these two held considerable authority within the Wu clan, so he did not treat them lightly.
Because of this, they might learn even more than before.
Whoever they were, the current events had arisen because of them.
"The Wu clan is also trustworthy; if the Two Saints truly intend to act thus, we two shall assist you in achieving your goals."
"We only ask that the Two Saints not favor the Yao clan."
Tian Wu and Weng Zi could say this because they believed they could deliver on it—and the Twelve Ancestral Wus possessed power no one could easily overcome.
The Two Western Saints leaned toward the Wu clan.
Since Luo Fu emerged, everything for the Wu clan had changed.
From that moment on, the entire Honghuang's destiny shifted, tilting in ways no one had anticipated.
Jieyin and Zhunti exchanged a glance and understood each other's thoughts.
Seeing this, the Flame Mouse felt a sudden dread.
"Two Saints, please reconsider! If you refrain from interference and merely watch from the sidelines, our Yao Emperor will never fail to reward you."
The Yellow Wind Demon and the Book of Heaven Demon dared not speak a word; they knelt on the ground, for if they failed in this, they would have no face to return and seek further aid.
