Chapter 2508: They my lord
Just as Gonggong and Zhurong were about to rush after them, Hongyun and the others encountered Tianwu and Wengzi again.
This fake Tianwu and Wengzi had been trailing closely beside Hongyun and Jin Ling Shengmu, thinking they merely wanted to chat and veer toward the outermost thirty-three heavens.
They never expected they were truly heading to Shengling Mountain!
You cannot go to Shengling Mountain.
Shengling Mountain is the sacred ground of our demon race, and many of our kind are cultivating there; if you enter Shengling Mountain, we won't be able to act freely.
So Tianwu immediately stepped forward to block Hongyun.
"Hongyun Daoist, where exactly are you going? Didn't you say you were heading beyond the thirty-three heavens? Why are you changing course toward Shengling Mountain now?" Tianwu said.
Wengzi stood beside him, watching Hongyun Daoist curiously—he only wanted to clarify.
There was also a hint of delaying tactics; Hongyun and Jin Ling Shengmu exchanged glances and realized their actions were indeed suspicious, and these two had been following them all along.
"You… have been tracking us?" Nanji Xianweng said.
"No no no."
Wengzi immediately explained, "Hongyun Daoist, you've misunderstood—we aren't tracking you. We just happened to encounter a group of demon folk, so we retreated to this side to wait until they passed."
Jin Ling Shengmu: Of course they're lying through their teeth!
Jin Ling Shengmu wasn't good at hiding her expression, but in a life-or-death moment, she dared not lag behind—she forcibly suppressed her gaze.
She stared blankly ahead, refusing to acknowledge anything happening before her.
Tianwu and Wengzi couldn't see Jin Ling Shengmu's expression and felt a pang of regret; before they set out, Guiche had told them Jin Ling Shengmu was brainless—any situation could be judged by reading her face.
"Is that truly so?"
"Truly!"
They chatted a bit more, though neither side had anything meaningful to say, and both wished to part ways.
Wengzi quickly said, "Nanji Xianweng, the place you're heading might be the same one we want to reach. But since we have no specific destination, why not travel together?"
Nanji Xianweng finally let out the breath he'd been holding.
Tianwu and Wengzi would never say such things—they'd spent time with the real Tianwu and Wengzi, and this was clearly fake.
"No need."
Hongyun said, "Our destination lies on a different path from yours. If you insist on coming along, do you have some secret you're hiding?"
"Hongyun Daoist, what kind of talk is that? We only wish to travel together for mutual protection—you're ungrateful for good intentions…"
As Tianwu tried to continue, Wengzi pulled him back—he thought bringing Tianwu along was utterly foolish.
Why didn't Guiche assign him someone with matching intelligence? Why assign such a fool? Even his plan to join Hongyun's group had been ruined.
Hongyun snorted coldly: "You'd best leave quickly. We don't want to travel with anyone. Let me warn you: what's yours is yours; what isn't will never land in your hands."
With that, Hongyun pulled Jin Ling Shengmu away, and Nanji Xianweng followed behind.
The fake Tianwu and Wengzi stamped their feet in fury behind them.
